I don't often write reviews, however following my recent visit to Home Depot, I felt compelled to say something. I was helped from a young man named William over in the tool area, and honestly, he was excellent. Even though he mentioned he had only recently begun working there, you wouldn't have guessed it. He showed great respect, something I rarely encounter these days, and he took into account what I needed instead of pushing me forward quickly. I had gone inside seeking welding supplies, assuming I roughly knew what I was after. But William made the effort to pose questions and ensured I actually had the proper equipment for the job--he knew his stuff. It turns out, I was short on some things I hadn't considered, so he certainly saved me an additional trip or two. That standard of care and genuine customer service leaves a lasting impression. He didn't regard me like just another face in line. He confirmed I got all that I needed before I went. For years, I've been visiting Home Depot, and moments like these serve as a reminder what keeps me coming back. It's beyond just the supplies--you enjoy service and assistance from individuals who genuinely care. William, though a young guy, he is certainly a valuable member of the team. read more

I have shopped there many times. I find the people there helpful if they know and they point me to someone if they don't know themselves. The tellers are supper friendly and have always been able to get me someone to help load the heavy stuff. I also find that even when I have a big heavy order like concrete bags, they still have a smile and good conversations while loading my truck. I do not recall ever, where the store did not have what I wanted or a better replacement for what I needed and to be honest I do not in any way see how anyone could only give them a two star rating. These people work hard and have always had a smile for me and always tried their hardest to help in any way possible. read more

I ordered 5 doors that were supposed to arrive in 10-15 days. I call weekly after the 15 days and They gave me multiple new estimated arrival dates each time. The doors dropped in price $40 each while I was waiting for them to come in. I was told I ordered them over a month ago so wouldn't honour new price (over 30 days yes but they hadn't eve come in yet) It was only after threatening to cancel my order and take my business somewhere else that they dropped my bill to the new price. They finally showed up 2 1/2 months later. They were beat up and poorly built. The lady at customer service said take them or leave them like she could care less either way. I took them and will fix them myself because I can't wait another 2 1/2 months for different ones. The in store service has been good to excellent at the Nanaimo location. I have no complaints there. Their phone center customer service is just shameful. I ordered a $1,400.00 fridge. First they had to do a price adjustment as Best Buy had it cheaper. (Always watch the ads). But they charged me the full price, then refunded me the difference. Fair enough. Then they scheduled a delivery date, and said they would notify me the day before for a delivery time. I got a few emails regarding that. So, I unplug and clean out the old fridge as they will haul it off. Comes the day of, and no call, I checked the delivery site, and there was no time there either, so I call. A cheerful customer service rep tells me, it's on backorder! So, I emptied out and unplugged and moved the fridge for no reason? Thanks for nothing Home Depot! So, I cancel, and request a refund as I had already paid off the card in advance. After a few calls, and a few weeks, I get to a person who credits my account (as opposed to sending me a refund) and charges a restocking fee! One furious call and that went away QUICK (I was miffed). So, now I am sitting with zero debt and a credit balance of $1,400.00 on my card. Hey, I shop at Home Depot, but not "that" much, nor "that" frequently. I still want my money back. So I call again, and am assured that in 7 days I will get a check. He said it, and I wrote it in my calendar. Then 5 business days later, I still have the credit balance on my account, so I call rather miffed again. Now, I hear it's 3 weeks, and in some cases up to 45 days! WTH? "Gimme a supervisor (again).". After verbally wrestling with them, for 20 minutes we go up to 45 days, to 21 days, to 7-10 days, to "We are cutting you a check today!" and they will "allegedly" send it via courier on Monday. Seriously, Home Depot? Their service and credit departments must be run by not so reformed pickpockets, and confidence men/women. If I treated people like that I could be arrested for fraud, theft or conversion, or the like. If Home Depot does it, it's "Business as usual", "Our policy". Caveat Emptor! read more

Ordered a clothes washer and dryer in September 2021 from Nanaimo Home Depot. They delivered and set up washer but didn't hook up dryer as they said I needed a hvac person lol. Completely incompetent contractor and then the washer flooded the house and basement suite on the first wash. Home Depot blamed it on the delivery company who they use as their contractor to set up the machines. B & N Delivery. I made an insurance claim and gave them the remediation bill. Home Depot gave it to their contractor to pay. Today the guy illegally entered my property and was harassing both sets of my tenants asking them questions. Do not buy any appliances from Home Depot if you need set up - this can happen to you as they only use one contractor, B & N. Go elsewhere like the Brick, Trail, Rona, Coast or Costco. read more

Called in to ask about some building supplies we needed and prices. Was told they did not have it in stock but I had a chance to go in later that day and found the item on my own. I had to ask someone at the counter for help with something else and was told someone was on their way over the help. I asked again after waiting 5 minutes and they paged someone else again and asked me to wait. I understand they are busy but I eventually just left and paid a little more for the things I needed somewhere else where they had the staff available to answer my questions. I would gladly pay a little extra for advice from someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't feel like it's a burden to help their customers. read more

Purchased $1400 worth of privacy blinds for home. They had to cut four to length. of the four three were cut too long by 1/4 of a inch!! Phoned the store, on hold waiting ten minutes. Spoke with supervisor, who just put it gown to human error. That is quite a error - 75% cut wrong! Now have to drive 100 mile round trip to correct their error. Absolutely the most dismal on-line service ever! - Purchased a repair kit ($200) - Promised to delivery to my home in 14 - 21 days - On-line confirmation site stays static throughout the 21 days with "order confirmed" - Repeat calls to their "Customer Service Center" always got referred to their "Escalation Center" which promised to investigate and will call back after looking into it - Never will address the problem when called, always promised to call back - Three calls, three promises, not one call back - Asked to talk to supervisor was rolled into one of those "Will call back but never do" category - After 24 days (21 days delivery), and the third call resulting in yet another promise to call back but didn't, I called for the 4th time and canceled the order - Still have my money, not process yet - Overall, their on-line service seemed to be set up by some serious amateur on their first try - Run by a bunch of incompetent people who have absolutely no clue on what they are doing, don't care, and make promise that they KNEW that will not be kept - None of the on-line "Customer Service Representative" had ever heard of "Problem Solving", nor "Follow Up" - I am absolutely positive that the "Delightful" representatives that I had encountered all scored an "A+" on their mandatory "Pass the Buck" training - Home Depot on-line order set-up, the way it is right now, will make an exceptional case study for any Business School on HOW NOT TO RUN AN ON-LINE OPERATION - The "Vice President" responsible for this disgrace should be asked to take early retirement Conclusion: NEVER ORDER ON-LINE FROM HOME DEPOT, NOTHING BUT FRUSTRATION, DELAYS AND NON-PERFORMANCE. I recently purchased fence post solar lights. On the web site it stated (2 per package) I ordered 2 sets. Only 1 set arrived. I phoned and was told that 2 more solar lights would be coming. Today I was phoned again and was told that there was an error on the web site and the (2 per package) had been removed from their web site. Instead they would send me a $10.00 gift certificate towards another purchase. Sorry Home Depot but "burnt once, twice shy" There are other stores in our town. read more

This Business started of well years ago but now it's a laughing stock. It has a problem that is so stupid. In the blind area sits a machine for trimming blinds, it broke,has been for a number of weeks the remedy.fix it, excuses are numerous,reality is no one is capable of jumping over this and getting into real management. Over the last couple of years I personally have seen a decline in customer service, it's a shame, this store needs retraining U S A side , the difference going over the border is competition is noticible so people stay on the ball. bought a great weber BBQ but what a messed up process! Had it put together and held for me... then they couldn't find it, then it was all scratched, then it couldn't fit in our SUV, then they gave me the wrong BBQ cover... 4 trips... surely they owe me a gift certificate!!!! In June of 2014 I went to Home Depot and ordered flooring. They sent out GORDON ELLIS who offered to do the work for 1000.00 less than the quote which I never actually saw I "trusted" he was being truthful. After giving him a cheque for 3400.00 he called the next day and wanted the installation fee in advance due to a hold on my cheque. I immediately went online and saw it was cashed and told him. When he eventually showed up to do the flooring , he offered to do the baseboards on the side for 1200.00. 900.00 for product and 300.00 for labour. This was on the 29th of June 2014. He booked me for July 26th and never showed up. After more messages and pleading to just give me the baseboard he said he was going to drop it off , I asked when. Never got a reply this was on sept. 25. I again attempted to get my baseboard after 4 more texts that he ignored , several telephone messages , and finally I emailed him. This was his reply " Perhaps you should stay off drugs and alcohol" really Home Depot? You employ scammers? I won't buy anything from you again. I realize you had no control over this, but thought you should know about the kind of people you employ. read more

Got super service from Gil in appliances when we purchased them. Had a problem with one of the appliances which was not their fault and dealt with the assistant manager Lisa who provided phenomenal service in getting the problem resolved She stepped up when the manufacurer would not. She made arrangements directly and followed up with us to make sure everything got resolved. Thank you. read more

worst online service that I have ever had! placed an order online, 1\2 hour later realized that the info they gave was wrong ,I cancelled the order . 5 weeks later have not received my money back, they give one excuse after another. with Lowes coming into Canada you would think they would step up the service .I an now a Lowes customer! read more
