Not terribly impressed…read more The staff person managing the gate to limit people inside because of the pandemic was helpful, but once inside, NO ONE was available to help with questions about this or that plant. The selection of plants is so-so. We just moved here from the Lower Mainland. I'm used to much bigger garden centers. Worse, at the checkout, the staff were rude and disrespectful to an elderly woman in front of me who was having difficulty understanding the COVID-19 protocols. Even catty little remarks after she had passed through. I was disgusted. We have a new house here in Nanaimo with front and back yard to redesign. Unlikely I'll return to Green Thumb.

I (of course) cursed the supplier time and again while doing so. Then there was the residual debris of small branch pieces and many, many stones in every shovelful of their product. Find another place to buy your soil - this is not what you're looking for. And if I knew how to attach photos (I'm old and decrepit and semi-computer-literate at best), you'd be at least both appalled and dismayed, if not also vexed and miffed. (lol!)

I was helped from a young man named William over in the tool area, and honestly, he was excellent. Even though he mentioned he had only recently begun working there, you wouldn't have guessed it. He showed great respect, something I rarely encounter these days, and he took into account what I needed instead of pushing me forward quickly. I had gone inside seeking welding supplies, assuming I roughly knew what I was after. But William made the effort to pose questions and ensured I actually had the proper equipment for the job--he knew his stuff. It turns out, I was short on some things I hadn't considered, so he certainly saved me an additional trip or two. That standard of care and genuine customer service leaves a lasting impression. He didn't regard me like just another face in line. He confirmed I got all that I needed before I went. For years, I've been visiting Home Depot, and moments like these serve as a reminder what keeps me coming back. It's beyond just the supplies--you enjoy service and assistance from individuals who genuinely care. William, though a young guy, he is certainly a valuable member of the team.

The tellers are supper friendly and have always been able to get me someone to help load the heavy stuff. I also find that even when I have a big heavy order like concrete bags, they still have a smile and good conversations while loading my truck. I do not recall ever, where the store did not have what I wanted or a better replacement for what I needed and to be honest I do not in any way see how anyone could only give them a two star rating. These people work hard and have always had a smile for me and always tried their hardest to help in any way possible.

These guys treated me really well, until my Harley developed a parasitic power drain, that resulted…read morein my battery being dead overnight if I didn't disconnect it. They told me I had to do part of the diagnosis at home, and showed me how.....which I happily handled. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, when my turn arrived to bring my bike in, they told me that they couldn't do this repair until the fall. And some of my wiring has begun to blister, indicating that there is a risk of a fire if I keep riding it as is..... I have used this shop several times, and I was pretty happy with the service and work done to this point. But why the hell would you show me how to take care of diagnosing it, only to tell me that you aren't going to do the work as promised. No one even apologized for misleading me, or even seemed to give a shit about me, as someone that has spent several thousand dollars on service there. I will NEVER endorse this shop again. All I expected was the job to be done that I was promised....now I have to find someone to fix this wiring issue before something bad happens. What a joke. Way to be professional, Tuff City. And good job showing me I don't matter, and that you have no integrity when it comes to honouring your commitments.
