Been looking for a kid-friendly place in the neighborhood and lucky me, Sharkey's opened! They do take appointments but our visit was a walk in and we just waited a few minutes. Our hair stylist, Trish, was friendly, patient and quick - everything you want from the person cutting your child's hair! Our almost two year old played musical "vehicles" since instead of chairs, they have fun cars for the kids to sit in. Once he finally settled on the fire truck, she asked us if TV would work so we turned on his favorite show. I really appreciated how she walked not only the parents through what she was doing, but also my son so he was never surprised. "I'm the comb with water now" and letting him feel the buzz before she worked on his neck. At the end he got a balloon and was so happy. He didn't cry once, if he started to fidget, she just worked faster while maintaining her on quality check. She has no problems with us combing through and asking that a few missed pieces be touched up. Great experience overall. So glad Sharkey's opened here! read more

Rudest and worst experience! Took my son for his first haircut. I said trim his bangs just above his eyebrow..full on bowl cut. Yelled at our nanny when she said it was too short and said she knows best it's out of his eyes 0/10 do not go here!! read more

I made an appointment online to get my kids haircut. I arrived early the day of and the doors were locked and the place was dark. We waited around till the appointment time and still no one showed. It would have been nice to know if they were canceling our appointment rather than have us show up to a closed store. Our phone number is on file so there's really no excuse. I do not recommend this business. read more

The service is super rude. The one running the register not the hair stylist. They associate just seem super lazy and obviously don't care. I don't the owners have any clue their employees act like this They had a sign saying they were out for 2hrs but were inside on their phones inside. My child cried when we left and said "those ladies were so mean" Lots of places in the hood to make your kid smile where the employee are respectful to customers. Avoid this one read more

I went to this place thinking my friend could get a haircut and they said you couldn't get a haircut without a parent I looked this up and their was no law that says that then they kicked us out. I will never come back. The little car my daughter picked was full of hair from the previous kid, and there was a comb on the floor of the car. I mentioned it and our hair dresser quickly swept it with her hand. She massacred my daughter's curly hair and cut it in thick chunks. I was speechless. Her hair is now so dry and tangled. The 2 ladies working were nice and our hair dresser was very sweet to my 3 year old. Not everyone knows how to handle curly hair. This place is probably ok for boys and straight hair kids. read more

We found our girls Trish & A'vangela!!!! We were former clients of Cookie Cutters, but when these two left we had to go, stylist there gave the most horrible cuts ever!!! So now that we know they're here we're for sure staying. read more

I don't know who owns this place but it's understaff long waiting and not clean. One persone doing everything and definitely I don't think there was time to sanitize any of the equipment in between cuts. To pay I had to wait because the machines weren't working. read more

When I called to leave a message letting them know that there's an issue with the scheduling software the voice mailbox was full. I won't be attempting another time. We followed Avangela from Cookie Cutters when we moved to Dallas and she moved to this salon. She has been cutting my daughter's hair for a year and has always done a great job. She is knowledgeable about kids' hair and I remember she comforted me and reassured me my daughter's 3yr old curls would still be there when the haircut was done, and they were :) She does the sweetest braids and she is fast and efficient. While we love our hair stylist, I wish the kids cuts were more simple and reasonably priced. A kids cut here is $25 and includes nail polish, wash and blow dry. I don't mind the occasional nail polish, but I don't normally paint my 4yr olds nails and I don't feel it is age appropriate or necessary. The cut also included a wash and blow dry and my daughter didn't seem to enjoy the hair wash as much, although it was her first experience doing so. I would prefer for these to be optional add ons. A week before our family photos, and two weeks before his 2yo birthday party, my son got a HORRIBLE cut from another salon. It was bad, you guys. Imagine a medieval monk's haircut but, like, on only half of the head. I was in shock. And then I was in tears. I found Sharkey's here on Yelp and called them up. I told them what had happened and asked if they could fix it--that day. They could and they did and it was amazing. I'm in shock again--that they could make it so cute. Avangela was so sweet and helpful, approachable, kind, totally not bothered by my sons screaming the whole time--and a genius stylist!!! It was honestly amazing. I am so thankful and relieved and will definitely be back. read more

So I really wanted to like the place, it looks great but I can't anymore. The first time we tried to get a haircut they had a 330pm opening online but I didn't book because I knew we couldn't get there until 340pm so I thought we'd stop by and see if they had an opening. Well we arrive at 340pm, absolutely not a soul in this place. The stylist comes from the back ask if we have an appointment I politely say no and I knew the next online opening was at 430pm. The stylist tells me she likes a full 30 minutes for appointments and so she couldn't get to a toddler boys trim until 430. So we left and I thought I'd try one more time. So today we make an appointment at 400pm, we arrive and I try to checkin and (a different) stylist tells me to not bother signing in because it doesn't really work and she will sign us in. Okay. Well another customer was kindly waiting, so of course I'm thinking no way are we going to get service at our appointment time. So as expected the stylist takes the customer waiting , doesn't acknowledge we are sitting there nor checks us in, so I ask if our appointment is going to be honored and she tells me she's running late and will get to us after the current customer. Won't be back - waste of time. I appreciate the stylist working ....however management needs to improve management of service. read more
