I was on the hunt for a blowout the Wed afternoon before Thanksgiving. It turns out all of Dallas was getting one because I called every blowout salon I could find on Yelp with no luck. I did try to book an appt at all the Drybars thru their app with no luck, but then decided to call just to see if there happened to be a last minute opening. And score- while I was on the phone with them something opened up at 4pm! There are advantages and disadvantages to this Northpark (amazing mall!) location! Parking is a bit of a nightmare, but once you find a spot you can get your hair done AND get some shopping done! They also have an entrance that you can access from outside the mall (between Macys and Dillards) so you don't need to actually walk thru the mall to get there. I can't remember the name of my lovely stylist, but she did a good job with my crazy curls. She took a little longer than my stylists at my favorite blowout salon do back home in Chicago, but my hair was new to her....and I was out of there in about 40 minutes. I left happy with the results, although my husband mentioned he didn't notice any difference in my hair. I'll take that as my hair always looks good! ;) read more

WARNING TO ALL COSMETOLOGISTS LOOKING TO WORK HERE! - Management is terrible and treat their employees like fast food workers. You might as well have a big number on your shirt, like you're auditioning for a musical. They tell you from day one that they don't wanna hear any, "They said, I said." nonsense, or any sort of "negativity" because your well-being and personal experiences with the clients don't matter to them. They just want as much business and money as possible. - Training is only 3 DAYS! Their employees only get 3 days to learn EVERYTHING, including services, products, add ons, sale tactics, etc. They don't give you enough time to fully absorb everything and practice. They throw you onto the floor the day after training, with NO HELP, and expect you to at least "try". If you mess up, it's automatically your fault. - They give exactly 45 MINUTES to do the ENTIRE service, including the shampoo, blowout, and hot tool styling, as well as any add ons/treatments. If you go a single minute or two over that 45 minutes, they fire you on the spot. - Employees have to ASK for a lunch BEFOREHAND. The managers provide snacks and think that's enough to hold their employees over for 5-8 hours. - 99% of the clients that come in are entitled and stuck up. If you make a single mistake, no matter how little it is, they WILL complain about it. The managers read all those bad online reviews from them, and confront their employees about it, so they can "learn" from it. - Employees don't get their own clients, it's all first come first serve, unless someone requests you. - They expect all their employees to look like they serve a 5 star restaurant. It's literally just a place that shampoos and styles your hair, I would barely even consider them a salon. They get onto you if you wear comfortable athletic shoes, it doesn't matter if you're on your feet all day. I WOULDN'T EVEN WISH FOR MY WORST ENEMY TO WORK AT THIS CIRCUS. read more

I prefer Wetbar, obviously. But this place is good too. I've never had my hair done at a Drybar and I think it's mostly for people to get blowouts and that is what a lot of people come here for. Barbie has used this one on one occasion after she saw what great results they were having on everybody else's hair. I paid for it, encouraged it, and helped decide what she wanted, so I'm perfectly qualified to review it. I thought it looked absolutely amazing after she came out. It's not cheap but then they do a great job so if you want to look like a glamorous movie star for the rest of the day then walk in here with all the other glamorous girls and do it. Waste a bit of money and then love the results. That's what we did. They're super friendly, too. Would be 5 if cheaper. read more

If there is some kind of Drybar ranking system that I don't know about based on how many times you have been to Drybar... I think I'd take the cake. I have been going to Drybar for about 7 or 8 years now, starting out at the Plano location. I have curly, curly, THICK, did I say curly? Unmanageable hair. So coming here is a major relief for me, to the point I have come here twice in the same week before. Their products are great for taming frizz, and I always ask for Mr. Incredible as well as 100 Proof. Products I avoid: Velvet Hammer I have come to enjoy the Northpark location the most as it's the only one with pre-paid valet, since the mall traffic can be a bit intimidating when trying to make an appt. The staff is always extremely friendly, accommodating and the stylists achieve the look you're going for almost every time - and I've of course had a few blowouts I didn't care for but addressing it in the salon they are more than happy to help. I'd say the only inconvenience with this location is that it's a bit cramped with mall goers coming in and out, or appointments over lapping it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming during busy hours until you're given a stylist. And I will just note that I would not suggest Drybar for really anything more than a causal, or treat yourself blowout. The updo's or anything specific/intermediate seems to keep getting negative attention. I believe the stylists are trained to do looks by their book, and anything more is just the stylists being kind. read more

I asked for a rounded brush blow out! I paid and started walking out, before I left the establishment I ran my fingers through my hair and all of my roots were still wet. I went to The Dry Bar to get my hair done before the Christmas. I was seen on time when I arrived. The young lady that did my hair was really nice. She asked how I wanted it, and then washed my hair. Pretty good wash and then the blow out. I will say that I was initially happy with the look but it did not last at all. As you can see, I'm an African American female so my hair texture is different. By the time I had gotten home, about a 45 min drive, my hair had very little curl as what's seen in the photo. The next day, totally nonexistent curls and more difficult to curl because of the blowout. It's now getting back to "normal". I cannot say that I'd ever go back to get my hair styled. Kinky Hair Texture Beware!!!! I've gone here on multiple occasions with decent results, however, tonight's experience will make me never return. My daughter had the unfortunate experience of receiving someone who did not know how to blowout her hair properly. The stylist struggled until another struggle-stylist came to assist. We were there more than two hours, and my daughter's hair looks like crap. The only good part about the entire visit is that I didn't have to pay for this mess! What's even sadder is the fact that I requested someone who knew how to properly handle AA hair texture in advance. Customer Service I called to lodge a complaint and received an agent who I could not understand, who was clearly reading from a script. Bad!!!!! I have been going to DryBar the last 5 years. Never have I had such an awful experience. I also worked 7 years as a receptionist at a hair salon in my early years and would never treat a client how I was. My appointment was at 8. I couldn't locate the place as it's in a mall and I have never been to it. I was here at 8:07. 7 minutes late but I'm human and their was traffic. I called them at 8:14 in their parking lot because I couldn't find it as the Galleria is huge! The receptionist said they already marked me as a no show (where was the call?) but they could maybe to a blow dry.. I finally find them across the other side of the galleria and walk in at 8:20 to be told they only had time for a dry styling when I told them I had very fine hair & it wouldn't even take 30 minutes. I get my hair done every single week as I'm a model and work for the biggest runway fashion company in the US. A simple blow dry takes 30 minutes anytime I get it done. When I scheduled at 8:00 AM, it told me I am given 50 minutes for my appointment. This isn't true clearly. Worst experience I have ever had with DryBar. Don't go to this location. What makes a brand good is how they treat people. read more

This time it was too much product and i can feel the heaviness in my hair and my ends felt completely dry. I'm African American so i know it won't be a silk press. I am absolutely angry and do not recommend you go here for updos, ever. I was there for a wedding in September and I had asked for an updo. I liked the girl doing my hair, Maria, but she seemed to be struggling with my hair type. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and the results were so lacklustre. My makeup appointment was directly after my hair appointment and I couldn't stay longer to fix my hair, I had no time, so I just accepted what it was and hoped that I'd end up liking it. Nope. I hated it more and more as I kept looking at it. The girls at front desk don't seem so friendly either. I paid $100 TO END UP TAKING MY HAIR DOWN. I completed a post-experience survey saying I wasn't satisfied with the service I received and was told by the District Manager that I would receive a full refund. Then I got no response. I reached out to their Instagram, emailed them. No response. I reached out multiple times and got NO RESPONSE. My cousin had the exact same issue, we were both not happy about it in the end, except she got her full refund. It's been over a month and I've received absolutely nothing. So enjoyable! They take great care of you the moment you walk in. We organized a group of us to go and once arrived we were greeted with choices of mimosas or beverage of our pick. You flip through the 'menu' for the look you want and they do the rest. It was the first time for two of the girls in the group and they had the most fun. As an American of African decent, I can be hesitant about who does my hair and whether the process is for my 4C tresses. I tried DB with good results at another location about a year ago, so thought I'd try again. Also good to know is that I don't normally apply heat to my hair - I have a wash, condition (or LOC) and twist out kind of style that works for me. Allow out is an hair adventure. I did request someone in my appt who was familiar with natural hair. My stylist seemed newer at this but very attentive to my curls. I opted for a straight look with a bump at the ends. I would recommend anyone who is unsure of the process to look at some of our fellow reviewers,walk into the shop and ask questions and take a look online. For the price and short time, this may be the option for you (and you can even skip the flat iron if full heat is not your thing.) read more

I really wanted to like DryBar, since 2 of my friends told me how great their experiences were, and I also wanted to make it my monthly pampering routine, but I'm not sure that's going to happen now. Super sad about that! I was going to go ahead and purchase a membership, but before I did, I wanted to make an appointment and try them first. I won't go into every little detail of my experience, so I'll make it sweet and short: my experience was very good, my stylist was friendly, the ambiance was nice, the place looked clean. The reason for the 1 star? Well because after I received the "Cosmo-Tai," within 3 hours later, my hair totally fell! I walked out feeling fab, and my hair couldn't even last a couple hours! So disappointed. Of course I live about 30 minutes away, and didn't actually notice until I got home. I wasn't going to call and complain, I just thought I would take it as a loss! But because it's still been on my mind for a few days and still bothering me, I felt compelled to write a review. I hate to waste my money on something I was told should have lasted me a few days! After telling my friend about what happened, she asked me how long my appointment was. I told her it only lasted 40-45 minutes (I have time stamps on the pictures I took of my hair), and she told me her appointments usually last an hour and 20 minutes! When she finished there were too many fly away hairs and my baby hair at my part was sticking straight up. I asked her to fix them and she kept going over my hair with the flat iron and hairspray. Drybar has turned into my weekly indulgence. I love going on Friday or Saturday to get my hair blown out and relax a little. The awesome thing about the NorthPark location is that you can valet your car and walk right in. Drybar will comp your valet fee for you so you don't have to drive around the parking garage forever. Everyone at Drybar is very welcoming and pleasant. Get there a few minutes early on busy days and nights such as Saturday because the wait and transition between clients can get a little hectic. I got a great hair stylist right out of school but she did a great job with the blowout. She even taught me a few different things on when I blow my own hair out at home. The only reason why Drybar doesn't get 5 stars is due to their booking and scheduling system. If you want to book with the same person over and over you can't do it online. Then you have to call an 800 number that absolutely takes forever to get anyone to answer. It's kind of a nightmare. Also make sure if you schedule an appointment that you make it, the canceling or re-scheduling of appointments isn't flexible at all. I called once to re-schedule my appointment so that I can bring my friend with me. I couldn't believe that they charged me to re-schedule and bring a friend with me. I think if they can work out their scheduling system it would make the experience so much more pleasant. read more

My stylist did a very thorough job of shampooing and while I did request/pay additional for the scalp massage this was my only disappointment here. Let's just say next time I'll skip that addition. After checking out their Lookbook I chose a mix of Southern and Cosmo which turned out beautifully! She blew sections dry (my hair is shoulder length)and finished with a fancy twirly thing she did with her brush then she delicately rolled the sections and pinned them while finishing the other sections. Once it was all dry she used her curling iron to reinforce the curls and a quick spray, my 'do lasted 3 days! read more

At online booking I put in the notes that I'm African American with natural (not chemical treated) hair. 4. I arrived, got started on time, with Chastity (an AA stylist). She de-tangled and blow dried my hair just like I'd recommend and did a flat iron job that left a lot of movement and body. She was even explaining her approach to another stylist while she worked. Had a fabulous appointment at the Drybar Dallas Northpark Mall location. Blue was awesome! My appointment was for 12:30. I arrived at 12:15 and was promptly seated in the waiting area. Blue retrieved me about 12:25 where we proceeded to her chair first for a brief chat then on to the back for wash and condition. It's hard not get lost in the glamorous decor of the place. The gray and yellow hues and white backdrop makes for a glossy magazine worthy spread. Drinks were offered, water mimosas and I believe soda. I don't drink anything when I'm getting my hair done so I passes but the offering was appreciated. Blue is the go-to for black hair (née kinky or naturally curly) but there are other stylists who can do the same. I chose her because she came highly recommended and did not disappoint. She detangled my hair painlessly and added a pleasant smelling serum prior blow drying my hair. She sectioned it into four sections and used a round brush to blow dry each section. No snags no tears, always a plus!!! After she blew it try with a twist for fullness, she used the flat iron to tweak it and add body. I will definitely be back to see Blue. Be advised she only works on Monday and Tuesday so plan accordingly! read more

I was not very pleased with the results from my blow out. My curls stay longer when I've done my hair myself. The immediate results were good but after two hours, the curls started dropping and four hours, they were pretty much non existent. Weather was not humid that day so I can't blame the weather. Not a big deal, but I did get a drink much later than other patrons...they asked me twice and still forgot about me. The stylist and cashier were nice enough. I'm glad I didn't reschedule for a second blow out since I can get better results at home without spending $50 ($40 + tip). read more

Overall my hair turned out good, but not great. The bad... I have relaxed hair and I told the stylist multiple times that my hair can be on the dry side. She didn't put any kind of oil/moisturizer on it before blow drying or flat iro9ning. I finally asked for some at the end and she added a little. She also attempted to use 450 degree flat irons on my hair. Fortunately I caught it and advised her of the right temp. I'd go back if I'm in a pinch and I'd demand some kind of heat protector and not assume they'll pick up on my "dry hair" hint.
