I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place deserves it. This was my 15-month-old daughter's very first haircut, and I was hoping for a fun, supportive experience--especially since we went to a place that specializes in cutting kids' hair. That is not what we got. First off, my daughter has a habit of putting her hair in her mouth, so we wanted it trimmed in a way that would keep it out of reach. Seems simple enough. But the stylist barely engaged with her at all--even when she got upset. No effort to distract or comfort her, no toys, no songs, not even a smile. For a place that markets itself as kid-friendly, it felt cold and rushed. We were in and out in under five minutes and charged $40. And the result? A mullet. Her bangs were completely uneven. I honestly couldn't get out of there fast enough. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I'd rather take my chances cutting it myself than ever set foot in this place again. read more

Great experience there for my daughters first cut. She was very "scared" of getting her hair cut and often cried when we just talked about doing it. Finally convinced her to try and made an appointment. She got nervous when we walked in but the ladies there knew exactly what to do and calmed her nerves with a stuffy and balloon. My daughter and I had an amazing experience for her birthday here! We stumbled upon this super cute hair salon for kids, teens, pretty much the whole family... It's called Sharkey's Cuts for Kids, we went to the location on Preston Road. My daughter needed birthday trim, and I had seen posts about this place, so we tried it out. I was so surprised by everything that came with the girls haircut... first off she got to pick where she wanted to sit, this pink lounge area, a car or a video game Xbox area. She chose the Elsa Jeep. She got a shampoo where she got to pick out what scent of shampoo they washed her hair with. Of course she got a trim and they did a little braid and glitter spray too. After her hair was done, she got to pick a nail polish color, and got a minicure at this cute little nail station, with a free ring! The stylist, Brooke was so nice. She's great with girl cuts!! She also got a lollipop and a balloon. It was such a great experience. A few other people were there while we were there. A dad and son both getting their haircut while playing Xbox next to each other and another little boy getting his first cut ever. He got a little first cut award with a photo and a lick of hair from his first little snip, it was so cute. I took my two year old to Sharkey's for her FIRST haircut and we had blast! The staff was so friendly and had a lot of experience (and patience!) navigating my tornado toddler. She got the perfect trim, was offered a bow (but politely declined), a mini braid, glitter, nails painted and a matching ring to match her nails! FIRST time getting nails done too! This is by far our favorite Sharkey's location. We have been to quite a few and this location just sits above the rest. Everyone there is so incredibly nice and they work so well with kids. We took our two children (7 yr old girl and 2 yr old boy) to get haircuts here. My 2 yr old had only gotten a haircut once before and this appointment went extremely well! My son enjoyed the options for seating. He, of course, chose the race car. It definitely helped him stay still. My daughter had the best time getting her first haircut! She had the whole shabang. Adorable kids hair salon that makes the experience for littles so much fun! The kiddos get to sit in a fun cars, watch TV, pick out their shampoo smell, and get treats at the end like lollipops and balloons. The staff was very kind and patient with my 2 year old boy. Jennifer did a great job cutting my sons hair even though he didn't sit very still at all. But he was happy! And I believe I owe that to the atmosphere and vibes of the salon:). Sharkey's in Addison quickly became our favorite place to get our kids' haircut and even us the parents ! They are catered to making kids stay entertained during their visit and feel extra special leaving with balloons, lollipops and most importantly a great experience overall! A lot of kid salons are not the best but this was great! Kids also get a balloon and lollipop at the end of the cut. There are fun seats and video games. We consulted with the stylist on what would be a good haircut for our kiddo and appreciated the attention. Tip: If you go on a weekday during school hours it's slower- we were the only customers there. read more

Originally booked with Jysina due to my wife said she did a great job last time but got a text reminder a couple of hours before saying it's booked with Chisa for some reason. She never introduced herself or made my son and I feel welcomed when we got there. She said more to the receptionist and whoever she called on her cellphone than to us.
