So incredibly sad about the haircut we received today. Went in and asked for a trim, and she chopped off so much more! Probably 3 inches off the length of a toddler boys hair when we wanted just a trim. It seems like she erased a whole year of growth in such a quick time. We brought my son (age 9) and daughter (age 5) for their cuts here. And upfront, I'll note that both cuts came out really nicely and both our kids are happy. It was my daughter's first ever haircut and she had a great experience. They both also enjoyed the perks - my daughter got to sit in a Power Wheel type car and watch cartoons and my son got to play Xbox during the cut (I'm now jealous and want these options myself). They also both left with a lollipop or balloon. However, the service was really unimpressive. We made reservations well in advance. However, neither child was seen until over half an hour after their reservation time. We overheard that a stylist or two had called in sick, but neither the receptionist nor any other employee told us that. I feel like the least they could have done was reached out in advance that the appointments were going to be dramatically later and/or told us when we got there. Nor were we offered a discount or anything else for the delay. To be fair, they were completely inundated with customers, but I think being upfront with the wait time or lack of staffing would have been helpful. The cuts are also pretty expensive as far as kids go. $25+ for a boy's cut and $30 for a girl's cut (granted it came with a shampoo). I guess we're paying for the extras, but that's still a bit more than I'd like to pay! read more

I think it's a great place to take kids so they know getting there haircut isn't scary. It is a bit pricey 35$ for a girls haircut so just be aware it is on the pricey side so I'm not sure we will always come here but for a first hair cut experience this really was a good pick. read more

Was 7 mins late and they said we had to reschedule. This is ironic because they never see you on time (we have been several time prior). Cuts are ok with the right stylist. But won't be returning. Prices went up and you never get the wash that is supposed to come with the overpriced cut. read more

The hair cut did cost $35 which was ok but I was surprised when I was told that there was only a cash tip allowed. Be prepared to bring cash for a tip when you go in (wish I was told beforehand) but will definitely be returning in the future. read more

This business is relatively new and finally decided to try it out for our 3 year old. We made an appointment online but still had to wait another 10 min. It looked like they were really short staffed. The services come with a "minicure." I wish I had known because we would have gotten the nails done while waiting. Haircut was super cute. Kids get to sit in their favorite toy car. She got a blow dry. After getting her nails painted, she got a couple rings, lollipop and a balloon. Next time I'll go in the morning so we won't have to wait. read more

Greenville location. I will start by saying, I have never left a review on yelp or any other site. My grandson loved going to Sharkey's . He was always booked with Jennifer. Well, Jennifer left but we thought we would use another stylist. About 6 weeks ago we went for Genesis to cut his hair (he is 6). The haircut was so bad we went to another place on Augusta Rd. and they fixed it. Thinking this was just a bad day, my grandson needed another haircut, he wanted to go to Sharkey's. Once again with Genesis. When she got through, my son asked her to take it shorter on the top of my grandson's head. She chopped his bangs off, not touching any other part. She had another customer, so I guess she was rushing......Once again we took him to another salon...The stylist there said she had never seen such a horrible cut. Both times, we paid for the cost of both haircuts...Pretty expensive if you ask me. read more

A little unprofessional- I think anyone working with kids could do a little better at keeping the drama from the customers. They were extremely busy but customers did not need to hear half the stuff they were talking about - it's a salon for kids not your normal adult salon. My daughter is 2 and we took her in for her first haircut primarily to cut her bangs and trim the back. My daughter did not cry, move around, or flinch so the haircut was SUPER quick. I saw that they were busy so I was okay foregoing the "FULL" first haircut experience - however they still charged us for the first haircut ($30.00). Girls first haircuts come with a wash, mini mani, certificate, balloon and lollipop - we got a balloon and lollipop but nothing else. We eventually went back in to ask them to provide us with the certificate at least (and they did) - however I will not be going back and I do not recommend this location. read more

Very dirty place. The whole place and every single thing in that place is full of tiny bits of hair. Even the baloons and showpieces they kept in their salon are full of hair. Anybody who will visit that place will get dirty with hair. It looks like they never clean that place. Except for those kids cars, there is nothing special. This review is for Stacy. In summary: She's amazing! We've been coming here for two years now. Our first trip in we met Stacy - she was patient, kind and cheerful the entire time for our kids first haircut. They even collect the little curls and hair snippets for memory books/albums and take a photo at the end to commemorate the experience. Ever since that first haircut, we've always been back to see Stacy. We drive almost an hour to get here (one way) each time we visit so this says a lot about how much we like her. Did I mention how patient she was? Crying, kicking or screaming doesn't phase this woman at all - she's a super hero, seriously. She even sat on the floor with our little one to give a haircut because the chairs/cars were too much that day. Speaking of cars, they have multiple cars (their version of chairs) for kids to choose from. They have a Frozen themed Jeep, a police car, a Cars themed race car and they used to have a fire truck...but at our most recent visit that one was gone. They have a new car in its place but I didn't get a good look at it. This place is always packed on the weekends and close to the holidays - so plan accordingly. Only spent 5 min on my daughter's hair. Seemed surprised when I requested layers -- she's almost 7 with very thick hair. Apparently the "blow dry" that comes with the $35 girls cut only includes waving the blow dryer at hair without brushing, resulting in incredibly puffy hair and impossible to tell if the cut is okay. Daughter was very disappointed she didn't get "pretty hair". Was told next time I need to pay more if I want full blow dry but they didn't have time to do it today even though all other chairs were open. Felt like would be good for babies/toddlers but not older kids. read more

The service requested was not fulfilled she ignored our request and decided to cut my child's hair after we told her it's just a trim to the front area nothing else. Will not be returning. Bad experience. My daughters hair was tangled and they did not know how to de tangle. I did it for them. They didn't even have a proper wet comb. The products and tools are all bad quality, shampoo is the worst kind with cones and alcohol. I would not go back. It's a big gimmick. read more

We took our almost 1 year old son here for his first haircut. When looking around NOVA, I really only found 2 places that "specialized" in "baby's first haircut" and Sharkey's had more positive ratings so we went with Sharkey's. Booking online was very easy. In fact, the other place (Cartoon Cuts) does not allow appointments on the weekends. Parking was also plentiful as the location is in a shopping plaza. When we arrived for our 1:30pm appointment on a Sunday, there were no other customers in the place and no one walked in until we were leaving. Our son had his choice of vehicle (race car, police car, fire engine, or some pink car). There are straps in the cars which was great because we have a wild squirmer! In front of each seat was a TV turned to Nick Jr. We (meaning with our son) don't watch TV at home but he was mesmerized by Paw Patrol and it kept him from getting too fussy. The stylist was great with him and patient. We received a balloon plus a certificate with his picture and a bag of his curly locks. He also got a taste of his first lollipop. The price was a bit high IMO at $29, but you only get one first haircut! This location is quite far from where we live but with advanced planning I'd happily return for our son's second haircut! read more

Great place for a first haircut. Martha did a phenomenal job! She was quick and really knew her stuff about dealing with little ones. We will definitely be back to see her again. The cut came with a certificate, a lock of hair in a ziplock, and a picture ($29 not including tip (tip has to be in cash FYI)) One complaint: the picture they took afterwards (it was the desk lady) was not very good and could have been done better (missed part of his head) and it was blurry (probably bc of the printer), so make sure you take your own pictures too. read more

If I can give zero stars I would go for it. The most worst customer service I have never experienced. I had a appointment at 10.20 am. I have traveled with my 10 months old for 45 minutes to reach the location. After I reached the location, they have informed that hair stylist is in sick leave. They didn't inform me about this earlier. This is very rude, irresponsible and worst customer service and didn't even offer another appointment on that day and asked me to come on another day. This is the worst customer service ever. Everyone knows how hard it is to be on time and travel with baby. They said my phone is out of service but they noted wrong phone number. It requires her dad to sit with her to restrain her while she makes it very known she isn't a fan. To say Lisa was accommodating would not do her justice. She was patient but quick, but most of all, she was compassionate and went out of her way to make Maryn as comfortable as possible. She didn't judge and she wasn't disrespectful. I took my daughter to this place for her first ever haircut. They are only taking appointments at the moment, but it was easy enough to book on the day. We thought we would get there a little early to get settled in, but they don't allow this, you need to come on time for your appointment. The lady cutting my daughter's hair was nice, patient and experienced with kids. My daughter got to pick her chair (frozen car) and her show (peppa pig). There were no tears, and she even said she would like to go back there again, they give kids balloons and candy after. Overall I was pleased with the result. However I took a star off, as staff at the front desk were not too friendly, and I did not see them clean or disinfect cars (chairs) after cuts, they were operating an assembly line system and really just after as much money as they could make. This place is adorable and super clean. They took time and washed and conditioned my 4 year old without making her even a little whiny. She was excited to sit in the Elsa jeep and get her hair cut while watching cartoons. The place is bright and well decorated with little cute shark accents everywhere. Thank you Sharkey's for making our baby's first haircut a smooth and memorable experience. We made our appointment online without issue and showed up to our appointment armed with a camera to document the experience. Amina was our stylist and was so wonderful and gentle with the baby. Our kid looked like he was one of the Beatles with his unruly bangs and had a party going on in the back with a ruthless mullet. Amina was so gentle covering him with the barber's cape and then gently introduced him to the clippers. We were prepared for the baby to start crying, but nope, it was momma who started crying as soon as she saw the locks fall off and her baby transform into a little boy before her very eyes. From start to finish, it was a great experience. The decor is fun, the little barber chairs (we picked the red racecar!), the photograph, lock of hair, and first haircut certificate, and balloon for little one was a wonderful time. They have a little of everything to keep the kiddoes distracted and entertained (to include large tv screens for video games). The price was a bit high, but we didn't mind since the experience worked out for us and we acknowledge that a lot of work goes into creating a kid-friendly environment. After trying a regular barbershop for my son I realized how this place is not worth all the colorful and fun things they have for kids. Sharkeys cost more, they didn't do as smooth of a job (getting a fade seemed impossible), they nicked my sons ear 2 out of the 3 times we went, and the first woman who cut my sons hair wasn't patient or nice at all. She didn't try to make him feel better. It was a horrible experience. I will say Bopha is super nice! Oh also tips can't be on card which is inconvenient. The end. read more
