We dropped by in a Saturday afternoon to make a reservation/ appointment but they were able to take in my 9 yo daughter right away. We just had a trim. For $35 she got her trim plus they styled her hair with a twist and butterfly clip, glitter in her hair, nails painted plus she was given acting , a bracelet, stick on earrings, a balloon and lollipop. I thought it was so cute. She thought it was "too kiddish" for her but she liked it. they let her choose whatever show she wanted to watch as well. A little pricey for a toddler's haircut but they do a great job. Brought my kiddo in for his first professional haircut and we had a wonderful experience. They have a nice setup with the children's chair and cover. We went in, sat him down in the chair, and he got an orange cover - it was adorable! The lady was super helpful and answered my questions on the type of style we should try based on tve kiddo's hair type. She went to work and was done in about five minutes. There was some crying of course but the whole situation was pretty painless. And the kiddo's hair looked great! Definitely would recommend. read more

I've been taking my kids here since it has opened. Our go to hairdresser is Kashockie who's been super nice and patient with my toddlers. She works fast and gives us the cut we desire for our 2 boys. With the re-opening during these unprecedented times, they have implemented new policy and procedures to ensure the safety of the staff and clients. Remember as these are different times... the new policy and procedures may be an inconvenience to some but its the best practice to ensure everyone is safe. Appointments are currently required to ensure social distancing and preventing overlaps. Can be completed online or phone. Upon arrival, you would call to be allowed in as their doors remain locked. Temperature screenings are taken place prior to entering. Chairs and surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between clients. They only allow 1 patent to 1 child at a time. My kids really enjoy coming to Sharkey because of the fun ambience of the vehicle chairs they get to sit in. There's also a TV for each station and for them to select their favorite show to watch. The place is clean and spacious. The dip and dot freezer to reward the kids [at an additional cost] was different and a yummy idea. At the end of the Appointment, they would give each kiddo a balloon for their good behavior. This time, it was a balloon and goodie bag for the Holidays. All of this isn't necessary but it does make the salon stand out from others and my kids would request to return to Sharkey. read more

We asked for a bow for my one kid and they said they were "to busy" to add a simple bow, they ladies acted like we were putting them out being in there, they half way blow dried my kids hair. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our appointment and were not welcomed in. My grandson was finally seated 25 minutes after his appointment time. By then he had lost patience, was hungry and tired after a long day. The stylist told me since he was being un-agreeable she was not putting on the show he requested. They say people leave reviews only when they have bad experiences. For this place, you deserve to know. We drove 20 minutes to encounter thr RUDEST employees and worst customer service. Called to book an appt for the first time, nobody ever notified us of their policies. Problem 1. Showed up 8 minutes late for my appt...apparently they cancel if you haven't showed 7 minutes after your appt. they said they had cancelled it and the only availability was in an hour. I was visibly frustrated, and said ok we'll leave. Then I took a deep breath and asked if there were any other options. I asked if I could wait to see if there was a cancellation. They said ok. I waited outside out of respect for their signage...nobody notified me of ANYTHING after this point. Problem 2. When I went up to the door they asked me how I they could help me. They were clearly frustrated, and I asked if there was a cancellation. They said no. So I walked away again since she wouldn't even open the door the whole way and I was clearly bothering them. Note...w2 stylists were just waiting around. Problem 3 in my eyes. When I called from outside, still waiting, to see if they were going to notify me of any further cancellations, they said "I guess we can." So I asked if I could book the next available instead...they said their schedule was NOW fully booked. I am literally outside waiting with an 16 month old in 95 degree heat and nobody said anything to me? Zero communication? Such a bizarre experience...who runs a business like this? Especially a business with children who are unpredictable!! I find that businesses that have transparency, grace and kindness work better for our family. Let me be clear - this is not one of those. Terrible customer service for a children's salon. Terrible communication. Can't believe people would even treat you with this level of utter disregard when they want your money. Made an appointment for my 19 month old son online for his first professional haircut. I appreciated the temperature check before walking in, mask and glove wear, and the kid friendly atmosphere. The kids have different type of cars to sit on for their haircuts. My son absolutely lost it and went bonkers. (I woke him up during his nap). Overall, the stylist did a decent job, but she cut off more than I liked. My son had A LOT of hair but that wasn't the concern. For me, I just feel the employees there didn't like their work. They didn't seem too warm to kids. Didnt get the joy and enthusiasm you need when you work around kids. Didn't provide much encouragement for my son during and after, either. They did give him a balloon. Price was $20 and I tipped $10. Overall, it was fair but I may try looking around for another place. read more

My 3 year old absolutely hates getting his haircut and screams just about the entire time with lots of tears (both for kid and mom). Sharkeys has been awesome-- they talk to him the entire time, reassure him and just keep going. Despite tears he asks to go get his haircut now instead of before screaming just at the word. We went yesterday and they were absolutely amazing with both kids. My daughter also got a haircut and she had a great time. They are professional, they have some upgrades like doing nails and doing braids. I definitely recommend coming here, we have had two different stylists and both are awesome. read more

We've been going to this location for almost two years and after the very rude response to a reasonable/ simple request we had, we will not be returning. The manager was inflating balloons at the front desk and my husband simply asked if she could wait because our autistic son is scared of that noise (nothing else, literally only that noise!!). Her response was that she had to blow up balloons for all the kids. Ok, there were at least 20 balloons already inflated and only 5 kids in there. To say she couldn't wait 15 minutes while he got his haircut was ridiculous and just goes to show that they don't care or have any compassion for their clients. I would give them less than a 1 star review if I could. My appointment was at 1:45. Walked in at 1:51(within the 7 minute grace period) with my toddler and 2 months old infant. They kept me outside in the heat cz they asked for a mask. I was able to find a mask in the stroller. Still waited for them in the heat with a crying infant. Then a lady came out at 1:53 saying that I am late and that i will have to reschedule. I requested to speak to the manager to explain to her that I arrived within the grace period and showed her the time. She wouldn't accept to let me in and insisted I have to reschedule. No where on their website or reminder msg says to arrive 10 min early or there is a 7 minutes grace period if not your appointment will be canceled. We were coming from far and kept on hitting traffic lights. This is houston traffic. Every business give atleast 10 mins grace period but no they are so full of themselves. We arrived at 12:38. 1 min late after their 'grace period' and they refused to take us!! From the very first appointment my son loved Sharkeys. The service was immaculate, he found it very entertaining and adored his cut, and the stylist to cut his hair (I believe the owner) was spectacular. Today we got his haircut by a new stylist we haven't seen before and I made sure to clarify we like a zero on the sides, faded into a one on the top, but just trim the top top. She asked if we style it with anything and I clarified a second time, no we don't use product, but we do leave it spiked at the front. The seating is a bit away from where my son was, so I assumed if I sat over there, the stylist would have taken note of what we wanted instead of free handing my sons haircut before picture day. I'm pretty sure she used a zero all the way around to the point where he is almost bald & he is devastated not wanting to go to school for picture day because this isn't his normal amazing haircut we get from sharkeys, and it was not what we asked for. Last thing I would ever want is to leave a bad review, but when we contacted the salon, the stylist didn't care about how my son felt and kept arguing that she cut it perfectly. It doesn't matter how well she thinks she did, she did opposite of what the customer asked. My son looks like he just entered Parris island Marine boot camp. There was no offer to a solution to make us or our child feel any better, only arguing from the stylist. He was so excited to look good for picture day at his brand new school and now he is mortified, traumatized to go back to sharkeys, and terrified to go to school.
