Service was very subpar. They are not prepared for groups (5 plus but less than 15) and having things done in a timely manner. We waited approximately 15 minutes for drinks alone and then another 45-1hour for food. The food was decent, some food came out cold but they did rectify it. Frustrating experience. This was in the college district. The place was big and you can tell it's clearly a vibe! Our coworkers recommended it to us a few nights earlier after they went. It was like a bar scene and we went on wing and trivia night. It was a good vibe and experience. Great dive bar in a college town. Came back and had lunch with some friends and the food was good and service was great. Although, the manager was a dick to us when we were leaving. He forgot to charge us for something, which is fine we had a large party. Instead of just asking us who had it he started being like "I can check the cameras" what a douche bag. This was a fun place to stop and have lunch. We were traveling from North Carolina to Rhode Island and we were looking for someplace to have lunch that was not a chain restaurant. We found this place through yelp and it's located on just the sweetest Main Street in a lovely town. When you walk in you are bombarded by televisions with all kinds of sports stations on them. It was fun to watch while we ate. The waitress was just lovely and she had a voice that was just so sweet and musical that it was a joy to listen to her. I got a BLT with tomato and bacon that was just delicious. I also had seasoned fries with it that were pretty good as well. Mike got a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato and it was very tasty. We were both happy with our selections and the great service. read more

My husband and I dined here for Valentines Day, and I wanted to give them another try to get my order right from previous visits. Of course, I asked for no tomatoes and it arrives full of tomatoes, our server explained she didn't hear me. That is understandable and she seemed to be having an off day, so I didn't make a big deal of it. She went to fix it and when she brought out the replacement order, it still had tomatoes, but just a few. I picked them out and ate half with no complaints. I took the other half home to find it full of tomatoes. I don't know if the cook was being petty or what, but it's not hard to not add something. The waitress was very sweet and so was management. I gave 2 stars one for each of them. I can say I have never got a correct food order from Sharkeys, other than the waffle fries. read more

We were visiting for the weekend and seemed to spend a lot of time here. The location is right in the town itself and next to the campus. The Restaruant is pretty large, with a huge bar, pool tables, and ample table seating. Any where you decide to eat/drink you will have a great view of the many big screen TVs all over the place. The place was clean and the different waiters/waitresses we had (we were there more than once) were on point and very friendly and attentive to our refills. Drinks were good. Food was ok. Seems like a lot of people were ordering the wings. A few of us had a salad and others a burger. No complaints - but nothing spectacular. If I'm the area again - we will be back. read more

I was in town this weekend for a graduation. We were upstairs. There are 3 bartenders, and I stand and wait patiently for 30 mins. I'm a bar manager so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because I know what it's like to be in the weeds. However, I start to notice that, while this particular bartender, sees me right in front of her, she starts to take the order of new people coming up to the bar. Eventually, when there's essentially no other order to take, she gets to me. I order 2 shots and 2 beers, the easiest things to make, but she still had an attitude about it. I ignore it and close out my tab with a different bartender because this girl had already walked away even though I wanted to close out. At this point, we should've left, but the people we came with wanted to stay a while longer, so I decide to get another round and go back up to the bar. 20 more minutes into waiting, I notice there are 2 other kids at the bar, waiting to get served. Eventually my boyfriend comes up to see what's taking so long. He waits with me for 10 more minutes before turning to the guy next to me and asking how long he's been waiting. 30 mins. All these kids walk up and get served immediately, one girl was even served twice in the time that I was standing there. My boyfriend says to the bartender "how're you serving her first, she just got here and we've been waiting?", the bartender just rolls her eyes. At this point we are ready to go. As we leave, I see one of the girls that had been at the bar next to me waiting. I asked her if she ever ended up getting her drinks from that bartender and she said "no, she completely ignored me the whole time, I had to go to a different bartender". Get this--everyone who wasn't served happened to be black. What're the odds of that? Incredibly disappointing since this location is in a college town with a diverse student body. I hope management takes a hard look at the people they're employing, because at the very least, they're losing money. Plus, the floor was covered in a thick layer of sugar so every step was sticky and there was a smashed beer bottle in the bathroom. Would not recommend. read more

The wife is up the street for a conference so me being unsupervised was able to figure out what to get for my lunch. I stumbled upon this place (literally...tripped on my own feet on the sidewalk and when I looked up...there is Sharkey's)...decided to give this place a go because I've got time to kill and they have wings and burgers. Not disappointed at all. Being as it was almost noon there was a smattering of early lunch folks and I was quickly sat at the bar where I was greeted by the two bartenders and offered a beer menu as well as the food menu. The decor is what you expect from a college town bar...lots of sports on the TVs and loads of awesome music posters on the walls. The bar is huge. Good selection of beers too and the menu is packed with all kinds of goodies. I opted to play it safe and ordered a steakhouse burger with fries and a cold Virginia local beer. Food came out quick and was delicious. The half pound burger was cooked perfectly and it was juicy and flavorful. Will be back here again next time I'm in town! Literally everytime I come here or pick up food from here it is wrong. Someone's order is messed up, they forget something, charge you for things you did not get, and/or it's cold. 1/2 the staff is super rude (I don't want to say everyone bc I have had some wonderful servers as well). For instance, on my birthday I wanted to get an app for my table, so I asked ab the crab dip and the server told me it is imitation crab and came from a can ($15). Therefore, we asked about the buffalo Ckn dip& she said do u want chips or bread, so we asked,"what kind of bread?" She said "they use hot dog buns cut in half"..... ($13) sooo trifling. Not to mention you might as well order one per person, because the portions are enough for mayyybe 2 college kids Now onto the entree: I ordered a Cobb salad ($16) now had this been a nice Cobb salad, I would have had no problem paying that, had it been a good salad. BUT the CHICKEN was SOOO PALE, ZERO SEASONING (like the whitest most disgusting churn I think I've ever seen and clearly FROM A CAN!!!!!!!! Almost 20$ for a salad with "grilled chicken" that was NOT grilled and clearly from can. I was appalled. My choices were btwn this salad and the chkn tender salad (which suprisingly is $1 less! I definitely made the wrong decision lol) I had originally ordered a drink to go w my meal for takeout, however I changed my mind bc we were going to be stopping by 1 more place and their tiny to go cups are like $3-4. No ty I asked them to take it off the ticket & of course they charged me anyway, even though I never got the drink! Lasty, my salad that was "to go" came with no dressing.... (Literally the salad came with NO dressing) unfortunately, I was not the one who picked up our food this day (or I would have checked the bag) but still I shouldn't have to check and I always do with them. ‍I am just appalled, because having been here for a few years, just in these few years the prices have went up and up!!! HOW THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY to charge what they charge on top of such atrocious service and the poor poor quality of food. read more

The chicken wings are so good. You can pick if you want all flats or drums which is awesome! Had the bison wrap and it was delicious too. All of the food here is pretty good. College bar within walking distance to Radford University. Tried this place with our daughter to say some final goodbyes to some old friends and those that welcomed her as family. I love the sports bar atmosphere. Drinks are cheap but not that great. Again dive bar. However the food was way better than expected. I could not imagine coming here pre-covid. This place was packed this time so I can only imagine before. Don't get me wrong they dis social distancing but it gets loud and crowded quick. I would go here rather some other local near by bars just for the food. Also they take the school food card so thats a plus. For a dive/college bar it was worth the experience. read more

But anyways too many great things to say about this place, the management must know what they are doing because it struck a nerve in me and now this restaurant will always be a place of great memories. Had the "Highlander" burger and waffle fries. Both were pretty good. The place has a nice college/sports pub feel, but is very loud even when nearly empty. There weren't many people there, lots of staff on duty, but few actually working. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out, had to ask for mustard three times and my burger was nearly cold by the time I got it, and we didn't get water refills until after the waitress brought our bill. The wait staff was more interested in talking to one another than serving the few customers they had. As a whole the food wasn't bad, but didn't come close to Cookout and was way more expensive. If you want a beer and to watch a game, give them a try. If you want good service and to keep your ears from ringing, go elsewhere. read more

We are visiting the area from Nashville. Had a sweet waitress and good wings. Decent beer selection with some local selections that were great! The back where the pool tables are was quite rowdy, with lots of over-imbibers. Unfortunately thats where the restrooms are located, so taking the granddaughter back to the bathroom we encountered some live action and language, but I suppose this is somewhat expected in a combination restaurant/billiard hall. We will visit again when back in the area, prob just not on Saturday night. read more
