Not at all what I expected after looking at the website... but definitely an experience not to miss! Once we got over the fact that this joint is located inside a gas station convenience store, we placed our order and stood in line with people paying for their gasoline so we could pay for our food and a couple bottles of water. About 10 minutes later, they called our name; we grabbed our food from the counter and sat down at one of the five tables. We popped open our foam clamshells and dug into fluffy pancakes while "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" blared on the radio. This place is about half the cost of a more traditional restaurant, has half the ambiance, but this was one of the best breakfasts I have eaten in a long time. This is totally the kind of spot you'd love! It's this little cafe tucked away in the back of a convenience store/gas station, and they make hot, fresh food to order that's super tasty and won't cost you an arm and a leg. We found it last year by accident and now we always make sure to stop whenever we're around. You just order at the counter, the menu's on a board behind it, and they usually have some specials too. You tell them what you want, give your name, and they'll give you a receipt to pay up front. There are about five or six tables if you want to eat there. Everything's made fresh, so it comes out hot. Right now, the breakfast special is $7.99 and you get three eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns or seasoned potatoes, and toast. The people who work there are really nice and friendly. read more

Great food, the Philly chicken is my favorite. Breakfast is always good, kids love to get a Togo order before school.

This gets five stars for the simple reason that they COOK the vegetables they put in their omelette. I've had so many disappointing omelettes with raw vegetables. Along with that, our family stopped for lunch as we were passing through (10/15/19). The cashier that day was friendly and super helpful. He could probably tell we weren't regulars. He suggested the corn dog nuggets for my 3 year old because he said his kids love them. Great suggestion! Our food came out in good time and everyone was happy with their lunch. While we ate, the lunch crowd rolled in and we could tell this place is popular with locals. We stopped here on a whim and it was a great decision! read more

Omg the best biscuits ever!!!! Had a breakfast sandwich - bacon and egg on a biscuit- was best sandwich ever!!!! My husband had sausage gravy and biscuits and that was great. The flavors were perfect and everything was fresh and hot. Will definitely be back in the future! Lastly, pricing is low! I had to update my review and take away one star. My hubby and I went back the next morning on a Sunday and ordered the same meals. Unfortunately both meals were not as good the previous morning. My biscuit was not hot and the top was hard, also there was not that buttery taste. My hubbies gravy was not hot or even close to it. We were told it was the last of the gravy, which was okay, but again not hot. I was inclined to take away two stars but the previous meal was just too damn good! read more

The food and service are truly top notch at Little River Grill. I have eaten breakfast there many times, but tonight was the first time I tried dinner. I stopped for gas on my way home from a long day at work and decided to try it. The Chef (yes, there is a true chef at this gas station restaurant) stepped up to the counter when he saw me looking at the menu and said that he had a fresh pot of white chicken chili, and suggested I get it with a grilled cheese sandwich. I said it sounds perfect, and thanked him for the suggestion. It was the best white chicken chili I have ever had! The grilled cheese was perfection. An awesome comfort food throw back to my childhood to go with the chili. Then I got the check and was pleasently surprised at how affordable the meal was! I've paid more for fast food junk. No more drive-throughs for me. I will definitely be back! Thank you Chef for making a really hard day end on a high note. The wife and I stopped here on the way back home. We both got biscuits, which were on point. Everything is home made, just the way I like it. Hard to decide when you are tired... But had a taste for a burger (seldomly eaten) on their well seasoned flat grill. It came out w/the edges crispy (perfect). The shredded lettuce also made a difference in taste & holding the burger. Let's not forget that the cook put just the right amount of condiments . The service was a little slow to get started but server was very pleasant. Beer selection was surprisingly limited. Signage advertised ipa choices but yet they didn't have them. Our group of four, three had smothered burger and farmers burgers very tasty. Fourth had Reuben, however restaurant ran out of sauerkraut. Web site advertised outside dining yet it didn't exist. This was a wonderful find! Close to 81 in Virginia and some of the best grill food my husband and I have had in a very long time! Don't let the setting deter you - yummy breakfast- get the biscuit sandwiches, skip the chicken & waffles. Order at the counter (or better yet call ahead) pay at the register, everything is made to order so expect 15+ minute wait. At Sunday breakfast finding a table is a challenge. Great food for a great price. Had the Ribs yesterday, which is their special, and is only offered on Fridays. 7.99 Got me a half rack of freshly smoked ribs, and they were amazing. I work at the hospital down the street and they're literally the only food place open after 7pm. Hospital staff tell me often that the food at the grill is great so I decided to try. The first time I went for wings. OMG scrumptious. They do frequently run out of food which is a bummer but that night I got lucky and the barbecue wings were delicious...and cheap! The second time I tried their bacon cheese fries. Amazing again, especially with a side of ranch. Staff have always been kind and courteous.
