I took her to the first class (30 minutes) but was unable to attend 2 classes (1 hour) because of work. 4 of the classes were canceled (2 hours) due to weather - I understand they are trying to keep us safe and this is no fault of the center, HOWEVER they only tell/txt you that the class is cancelled 5 minutes before the start time! So we had to drive over there each time only to be sent away. One of these days the front desk person told me "well, the lightning is technically 12 miles away, and the rules say we have to close the center when it's 10 miles away, but we're just going to close it anyway because it's easier." On the last day of the session they said I had to come in for a single 1 hour 45 minute session to make up all the cancelled time. I feel it is unreasonable to expect a 4-year old with ZERO previous pool experience to attend a class of this length. They were unwilling to schedule any alternatives and I was told I would just lose the money. I called and talked to people in the office twice and was told "oh well, this is how we do it." They have group classes running for 3 more weeks, but even though there are available spaces, they have refused to allow any kind of drop in, even for just one or two classes. Ultimately I feel I have wasted both my time and money here.

If you don't have that experience, If your trainer is like a go-go drill sergeant, if it feels like you're training for the olympics... then you haven't trained in one of Ethan Riewaldt's classes. I'm sure Ethan can be all of that, but decades of training others has made him see how to manage the process of fitness based on his trainees. I, for example, am one of the participants in two of his classes for senior citizens at the Rosen Aquatic Center, one in a group class in a fitness room, and the other in a group class in the training pool. These two training environments are quite different. In the pool, the exercise is based on overcoming the resistance of the weight of the water. Since it's difficult to move quickly in water, the pressure on the joints is much less. Conversely, the movement in the training room is done to music that sets the tempo for stepping, using resistance bands, and light weights. It's easier to move, so the resistance is your own mass and the bands and weights. I get a complete workout in each of these two classes, and that would be enough for me to attend. But being in a class led by Ethan has it's advantages. First, my classes are full of people who you can get to know better because of the relaxed, uncompetitive, and positive tone in the training room and pool. Second, and more important, it's Ethan who sets that positive tone. He tells stories, asks questions, makes jokes, yet is clearly serious about the work he does. He cares about those he trains, asks about our health, hears our jokes and stories, and drinks a quick cup of coffee with us when we have time between his classes. I know he trains others as a private trainer, including kids and people he's been working with for years, and it's clear to me why people stay with him. Ethan is an experienced pro and a former dancer, athlete, and performer at Disney and elsewhere. He is open and easy with people, positive in his approach to life, and committed to excellence. For Christmas, we decided to head to Florida. Not one of my favorite states for many reasons, but that's another story. We made reservations for a family of four and arrived during the morning wave. My boys are 12. We had so much fun! Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE trees. So, to play among the trees was so lovely. We went through the entire course. I believe it took us an hour and a half. I was the caboose for my group and kept moving steadily. There were a few areas where you can opt to detour harder courses but we did them all. Honestly, your core strength will be tested on some of the sections. Luckily, our group never held up anyone behind us. So glad we went before the next crowd as the sections can get backed up if you're behind a slow group. Go early and be strategic. Assert yourself to be first in your group if you suspect newbies that might be slower. They have water stations but you do have to pay for that perk. Staffing was unremarkable. They did their job outfitting us briefly and explaining the clips for locking in and unlocking on the course. To conclude, we had a great time and would do it again. My only dislike was that it felt too short.
