T what an amazing neighborhood bar this is one of the best dive bars I've been to in a long time. The people are all friendly customers and service people. The food is absolutely excellent. The drinks are strong and inexpensive. They have about 10 8 foot pool tables in the back which are in excellent shape for playing playing. They have 26 foot tables closer to the front one of which doubles for a ping pong table. They have a very comfortable smoking porch, which is wonderful on good and rainy afternoons because it's covered. A couple of nights a week there is league play so pool tables may be hard to find. Pool tables are never free. They are rented at an hourly rate from six dollars to seven dollars . You should take a friend or two with you look at it just a fun place to hang out and catch up. Been going to this established water hole since last summer. Overall a pleasant place that draws some really good pool shooters, and a nice mix of clientele that reflects the surrounding residential neighborhood off Preston road, and a private academy across the street. A little dark inside with an unusual-shaped bar (kind of a maze), but plenty of big screen TVs, friendly attentive staff, and some of the best drink prices around. Lunch crowd typically a mix of business people on lunch break and retired locals. Kitchen is above average. They smoke their own brisket in-house, and offer things not often found on sports bar menus such as beer brats and Reuben sandwiches. Blackened fish tacos and charro beans were excellent. I have been frequenting this place for about 2 years. I bring all my dates here haha BECAUSE this place rocks! The staff know me well. My drink arrives basically as soon as I sit down. So, I like dive bars, they're fun. What I don't like is rude bartenders and a KJ who only puts his friends on the list and will only put you up the list if you "tip" (i.e. bribe) him. We went here for a friend's birthday party and literally just searched for karaoke in this area of town as it was somewhat centrally located. I wish I had listened to more of the negative reviews because it ended up not being the best experience. When we first arrived the bartender seemed exasperated by the fact that 10+ patrons had walked in planning to spend money. Shouldn't that be a GOOD thing? Especially when the bar was mostly empty and basically just had bar flies of a certain age. She was rude and snapped at us about swiping our licenses, and once that was done seemed already annoyed that we wanted drinks? Just ridiculous, and the bad service continued all night. Honestly, had we not all been there for my friend we would not have stayed. My friend loves karaoke and so to give him the opportunity several of us, several times had to bribe the KJ to actually let him sing. To give you an understanding of how ridiculous this guy is, I signed up and was told I was #13. Two and a half hours later I was going to leave and asked to see if I was close.... I was #11. Just BS, absolute BS. The only reason the night was good was because we had good friends around us, and we will always have those, and definitely somewhere else next time. read more

Fried pickles- I try to always get fried pickles everywhere I go to find the best ones around and these sucked. The grease tasted old and the taste was just off. Really greasy. I had such a good time! It was my first time there, I just judged based on the friendly Yelp photos. I'm so glad I came, the staff was amazing. The vibe is really laid back and everyone there clapped for karaoke and smiled when you passed them. I didn't get a chance to eat the food but the people who were eating cleaned their plates. It's not frequent that you find a place that you feel at home and the service is good. If you are looking for a place that has excellent atmosphere and good drinks don't search any further. Bar is a nice place to meet up with friends. The DJ is great but prices for shots are a little steep. AND, beware!!! They add an automatic tip on every bill regardless of group size. Shame too. I am revoking a star due to awful service and stupid excuses. I go to Sharky's because it's the "official bar" of the Lonestar sports and social club where I joined a volleyball league. I've been twice now and it's gone downhill. The service is horrendous. They had two bartenders and it's impossible to make an order or get your tab. I did try the food this time around and it was alright. I placed my order for a buffalo chicken wrap...I kid you not, ONE MINUTE later I ran back up to stress I wanted grilled chicken and not fried and the bartender put it in and said, "I guess we'll see how it turns out." This also happens to be the incorrect response. How about you know they didn't start making it so march your happy butt into the kitchen and have them make it how I want it? Too much to ask for? Yes, because it was fried. My only other complaint was that it came with a paper wrapper on it....like they wrapped the whole thing in paper and then cut it down the middle...I thought it was part of some new fangled wrap at first, flaky, you know? Glad I didn't bite into it. It wasn't the least bit spicy and was primarily filled with lettuce and tomato. I waited about 15 minutes to close my tab...the bartender made eye contact and then proceeded to help customers that had waited less time than I did. Then the bartender tried to be all cheery. I'm not buying into it now because I should have been helped at least ten minutes ago. I told him they needed more staff and he got defensive and told me they had it under control until about 5 minutes ago....you know, back when I was still waiting to check out. Excuses are lame and they make me cranky. Tuesday night is volleyball league and apparently they aren't interested in running a smooth operation so I would avoid it unless you are into waiting extended periods of time for mediocrity. read more

It's low-key, strong drinks, pool, and a jukebox. You gotta love a place with a jukebox. It's the place where the Starry Night shot has knocked me on my ass and gotten my roommate rolling in the grass. It's where D progressively got drunker and even more terrible than he already is at pool. It's an old pal that I feel comfortable showing up to in my p.j.'s. No, seriously, for real- who am I there to impress? Sharky's is a great bar with everything a bar should have and the answer to that is not $10 dollar martinis and tapas. It's beer, wings, and pool. This place runs some great specials like free pool and $5 pitchers for the service industry. (Former waitress, holla!) They even have this really awesome bloody mary bar on Sundays. The bartenders are pals and if I could walk there, everybody would know my name and how many drinks till I puke. Take your Kenneth Cole shoes and Gucci bags elsewhere, frou frou ladies and gents. First experience with Sharky's was last night... WOW! This is my kind of place. If I had an ad in the personals for a new dive bar it would read: Non-smoker, bar game lover, avid sports fan, karaoke lover seeks same. Must love people watching. Refined greasy spoon palate preferred. Better looking in dim lighting. :) Absolute awesometown! The Cowboys/Eagles game was on and someone was having a birthday party on top of that so the place was crowded. I didn't mind because I was there to play pool and had my pick of the tables. The service was kind of crappy because of the game and party and I don't think they were staffed appropriately, but I got free pool out of it. Plus, some real characters frequent this place and the people watching is fantastic. I think game nights draw out the real winners. Overall, I love this place.
