We came to Panama City Beach for the day to enjoy the beach and spend some quality time together. Someone recommended Sharky's after we mentioned that we hadn't tried alligator bites, so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment overall. We ordered the alligator bites, French fries, and grilled oysters. The alligator bites themselves were actually good, but honestly, the highlight was the dipping sauce--it was fantastic. The French fries weren't necessarily bad, but they had absolutely no seasoning, which made them pretty bland. The grilled oysters were the biggest disappointment. The cheese wasn't even melted when the oysters arrived at our table, which was surprising and definitely took away from the dish. I wouldn't recommend Sharky's, even if you're just looking for a quick pit stop. There are so many other dive bars and restaurants in the area that seem like they would be much more fulfilling, especially after looking at some of the other menus and prices around Panama City Beach. For us, Sharky's was a miss. The alligator bites and that dipping sauce were the only real highlights of the meal. read more

Add in the AE&P fee that I didn't see disclosed anywhere (menu no, walking up no, table side no, pisser no). Asked the waitress about it... Oh, she must've hit the side item button on accident. Ok, but how many times a night do they do this to customers that simply pay the bill without looking... Noticed tonight, pay attention to your bartender, the wait staff bartender likes to toss his water bottle into the ice bin, the very same ice bin location that he scoops the ice into your glass/cup and mixes your drink with. So, he's grabbing his water bottle drinking out of it, touching the outside of the bottle after touching food plates, money, credit cards, empty beer bottles, empty drink glasses, receipts, bar towels, high fiving joe dirt and whatever else you might see. Then you get to drink all that goo mixed into your drink because of his water bottle he tossed back into that very ice bin and created your drink with it. As a local this is an aggravation the community doesn't need. read more

Allen was our server and he was super friendly - we really liked him! We sat outside and it was nice to feel the breeze from the ocean - and the view was nice too. The food was okay. The shrimp came out room temp like they'd been cooked and the sat while the mozzarella sticks were cooked. The flavor was good on them, but they weren't my favorite. The sauce is more of a Bang Bang than a sweet chili, but still tasty. The mozzarella sticks were good, but the marinara sauce was nothing special. read more

We went on a Saturday between lunch and dinner so we easily got a table and a parking space but it can get very busy... Great photo op out front with the shark! We were seated almost immediately and the hostess was very kind to pick a table that was both by the beach and could accommodate someone with a walker. The food is kind of your standard beach bar and grill food but when it came out I was pleased to see it was hot and fresh and made as we requested. The burgers were seasoned well. Their beer they make is pretty good! Our server was friendly and I loved that the kids could go play in the sand at a playset where we could see them. The gift shop was nice and of course we left with a squishy. These places can be hokey/touristy but I found this one to have good service, good food, and fun for the whole family. P.S. We loved the frisbees that were used as the kid's meal plates. Our doggo is happy she got a souvenir too! read more

The gator bites were bangin. The oysters and shrimp were pretty good too. Our server was very friendly and did a great job. We really liked sitting on the beachfront at night. There was a family doing a few fireworks because of the Fourth of July coming up. That made our experience enjoyable at the restaurant. I'm only giving it 2 stars because our service was good but the food was truly some of the worst I have had. You can tell they care more about quantity than quality. We got the appetizer sampler and everything was cold, the mozzarella stick were just blocks of cold cheese. My partner for the Caesar salad which was wilted and her chicken was dry and overcooked. I got the gumbo and all I could taste was raw flour. Our other party has the shrimp platter which was $26 dollars for plain store bought shrimp and fries. Might be nice if you get to sip on the patio and get some drinks because they have a nice view, but honestly I would say save yourself the 2 hour wait and the crazy parking situation. For those coming to the town over the years or lucky enough to live in a vacation spot permanently, it's highly likely that Sharky's is going to bring back some good memories over the years. And that's for a good reason: Sharky's has been around for a while. Having opened in 1986 by Clark "The Shark" Bennett, who was a lifeguard in town, Sharky's withstood three Category 4 Hurricanes and as well as a Category 5. It grew from a small oyster bar into this behemoth of a tiki bar. Since Clark passed away, his legacy lives on and the family now owns and runs the place. The food at Sharky's is all right and generally covers all the beachside classics, can be a little hit or miss, but sticking to the seafood dishes is a fairly reliable route. At times the grouper comes out overcooked, but it is what it is. For a beachfront food spot in Panama City, Schooners and Hook'd are easy winners, while Sharky's has the atmosphere. The food was pretty good. I had the crab cakes and my wife the burger. The crab cakes weren't filled with binder which is always chance you're taking at a restaurant. The burger is a large patty and was cooked good. We sat at the bar as to not have to wait over an hour for a table and the service was very attentive. It is a typical PCB kind of place. We sat outside, the weather was beautiful, and our server was friendly, attentive, and provided great service. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting or the price. I ordered a dozen oysters (half baked, half raw). The baked oysters were covered with an excessive amount of cold Parmesan cheese that wasn't even melted, and the raw oysters were unusually large and very chewy. Would have never thought we'd be discriminated against like this due to cancer. But... Here we are.. Sharky's DOES INDEED discriminate. My husband and I went to Sharky's Beachfront Restaurant Thursday night. We go there pretty often. The service wasn't great unfortunately. But oh well. I ended up with a drink that I didn't exactly order. Ok whatever I still paid for it. Just didn't even take a single drink of it. I could tell the bartender was mad. But, Again I still paid for the drink and also tipped her even with her terrible attitude. Several people that night came over and talked to my husband because of his F*CKCANCER hat. They shared stories of their family members who have been fighting cancer as well. My husband has Stage 4 kidney cancer. So, the rude bartender clearly knew my husband has cancer..... We stop in again tonight. July 4th. This time with the kids (Adult kids). This time I'm the one wearing the hat. We sit down and wait for a server to come to the table. We were sitting in front of the stage listening to the band. Eric was chatting and cutting up with the younger couple next to us. Nothing out of the normal if you know Eric..... A male server finally comes to the table, asks what we want to drink. Eric asked for a Michelob Ultra. The server tells him. I will give you a water but that is it. I said "I'm sorry. What did you say?" He said I'm not serving him alcohol. I asked why? He's not drunk. What do you mean? He said again I will only serve him water. Eric asked" what do you mean? I'm not even drunk" the sever said" We do not serve anyone alcohol who is taking chemo" Also, he's not taking chemo. I was really confused then because How the hell did he even know Eric has cancer and WTF do you mean you don't serve anyone alcohol who is taking chemo?" So the guy refused to serve Eric. We get up and Eric immediately asks to speak to some sort of manager because this is clearly not ok. At this point we don't even want to stay anyway. Because that's extremely embarrassing as well. By the way. It's NOT illegal to drink alcohol if you have cancer. Also, chemotherapy and immunotherapy are NOT the same! Also, it IS illegal to discriminate against someone with cancer! Also. I have on video.... The entire conversation! Needless to say, Eric is making a phone call tomorrow to our attorney. This is very unfortunate because there are days that we go in there more than once. Never again will we or our family step foot in Sharky's ever again! read more
