On the one hand, you could tell the entire restaurant was in the weeds, and I think the staff handled it about as well as they could. On the other hand, it took 54 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived, which was the one significant negative of the evening. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. I ordered the BBQ plate, and the pulled pork was excellent--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The jerk seasoning on the chicken leg was outstanding, some of the best I've had. Unfortunately, the leg quarter itself was a bit dry, which is surprising for dark meat. My guess is that it had been cooked ahead of time and held or reheated because of the heavy demand. Even so, the seasoning helped make up for it. The brisket was sliced very thin and came from the point, so there wasn't an option for the fattier brisket that I personally prefer. That said, it was still very good. The mustard greens were cooked with plenty of hot sauce, and I thought they were fantastic. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, but it had so much orange pulp from the muddled orange slice that it was difficult to drink. We had such a wonderful experience at Salty Sue's! There were three of us, my husband, my mother-in-law, and myself, and we were seated immediately with no wait. The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. Our waiter was phenomenal. I had a little trouble understanding him because of his accent, but he was attentive, kind, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. I ordered the jerk chicken with mac and cheese and broccoli, and everything was absolutely delicious. The sweet tea was probably the best I've ever had! Every bite was flavorful, and you could tell a lot of care went into the food. I also have to mention how clean and well-maintained the restaurant was, especially the restroom. It's always something I notice and appreciate. As a bonus, they had FIFA playing on one of the TVs, which my husband really enjoyed watching while we ate. I got the Shrimp Christo which was SO good, and my husband got the French dip and said it was amazing. All of us decided to go for a pound of crab each, which came out to about two to two-and-a-half clusters per order. The crab was cooked perfectly--not overdone at all--which made it easy to enjoy! For sides, we had a nice variety. I ordered the baby bakers, which are steamed baby potatoes in butter, along with corn on the cob. I was especially glad the corn wasn't frozen, since that's something you often run into at other places. Both girls got the mac and cheese, which was a solid side, and her friend ordered the onion rings. Those were lightly fried with a nice crisp texture and just the right amount of salt. Our server, a sweet blonde lady with what sounded like a Russian or Polish accent, was attentive and made sure we had everything. After consulting a lot of photos on Yelp, this non-seafood eater went with the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with potato salad and baked beans. The chicken was good when it wasn't overdone and burnt. They did give me a good size portion with 2 leg quarters and maybe they felt sorry for making me wait so long (more on that in a moment), they threw in a 3rd one for no charge. The potato salad was my favorite as it was the baked potato type. The beans were not your run of the mill Bush beans style. This meal gave me enough faith to try their pulled pork or ribs if there is a next time. But if you are planning on going to Salty Sue's, don't plan on doing anything else. We arrived at 7 on a Tuesday night in July. It took 45 minutes to be seated. That didn't bother me. What bothered me was that it took 10 minutes for a waitress to greet us, 10 minutes to bring us our drinks and take our order. We finally got our food 40 minutes after ordering it. We arrived at 7 and started eating at 840. I should be leaving at 840 on a Tuesday night. Overall the food was pretty good especially the sides and sweet tea, but if you are in a hurry or have somewhere to be at a specific time, go elsewhere. read more

We were quoted a 45 minute wait time and provided our cell phone number for notification. Salty Sue's sends a confirmation text so you know they have the right number! Service at the bar was fast and accurate. We then headed outside to wait for our table. They have benches along the side of the building to sit and wait and a tiny lip off the porch for the younger folks to sit as well. It was an easy wait, but we waited the full 45 minutes or longer. One confusing thing, we checked out the menu online while we waited and were surprised the menu for dinner was different from online. Menu didn't include sandwiches. When our table was ready we were seated in the main dining area near the bar and with many TVs with baseball, our favorite! Our server was nice and stopped by almost immediately. We ordered drinks and chose the Grouper nuggets for our appetizers. The nuggets came out quickly and were fresh and delicious. Our main meal took a lot more time - we ordered the kids chicken tenders with Mac n cheese, kids fried shrimp, Jamaican jerk chicken, and ahi tuna dinner. Service was timely and the overall impression was that this was a favorite place for locals and visitors. So the heart of my review is this: When a couple comes in and the server makes a presumption that the MALE is going to pay the bill, then some servers pour the attention on the guy that's paying.
