A pet friendly open air bar and grill that is located next to the marina. We enjoyed watching a Sunday football game from start to finish without any pressure to eat and move on. Got a chance to meet and talk with staff and was so impressed with how friendly they were. The boom boom shrimp was very tasty and a good way to get started. During NFL & College games, the wings are part of the happy hour discounts, which made the habanero wings an easy choice. Wifey went with the burger and the feedback was it was good. We booked a morning dolphin tour today and it was so much fun! Our Captain Jennifer was so kind and informative and super fun! We then went to have lunch at Off the Hook which is conveniently where you go to get on your DOLPHIN tour, they always have live music and the food was AMAZING, the blackened shrimps and the blackened chicken Philly was delicious. All very tasty. Our server Lydia was attentive and friendly! And last but not least the owner Keith came to check on us and chat with us and made us feel right at home! The staff and service was great. It's an outdoor bar and restaurant on the water. They have large fans and umbrellas to help keep you cool which really helps. I ordered a mojito and it was very good. I'm got their seared tuna tacos with sweet potato fries. The tuna was fresh delicious and there was a lot of it. I was very impressed. We had a large group...8 of us and they took care of both tables quickly. Our server also took a group pic for us and she made sure to get a couple good ones. Everyone else enjoyed their food. The servers were great and the food quality appeared to be good. I can't really say, because just prior to ordering my food, someone came over and bellowed at us about feeding the birds. This immediately soured my appetite on the place, as it appeared that he was an employee of the restaurant and I don't really like being spoken to in that manner and I really don't appreciate my family being spoken to that way. Of course, it wasn't our group feeding the birds, not only because we all know better than to feed birds next to the water, but also, because WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY FOOD TO THROW. You see, our table was clear and we hadn't even ordered food yet. I later found out that the fellow who admonished our party without justification was the owner. And yes, I know that one person not ordering food won't really affect his bottom line that much. But the harm he causes by his lack of sensibility definitely cost his business another $40-$60 on this check. And that does affect his employees. Our server's tip was based on a much smaller amount due to his behavior. Bottom line for me is that you as a customer should consider the many, many other options in the area before resorting to this place. There are plenty of places in Panama City Beach where you won't be subjected to that. Shame on you, Mr. Owner, do better and be better. read more

It's rare that Yelp reviewers and I don't agree on things - and that's saying something for a Yelper for over 10 years. However, despite the best efforts of our young waitstaff, Over the Hook Bar & Grill (aka OTHBG) bit the dust with our visit. I debated on giving one star, but two is what I landed on. So... the good news first. Location. It was cool to sit off the boardwalk of a marina. And, that's it. Everything else had lots of room for improvement. Some more than others, but everything had room. Service: Despite being friendly, our young waitress didn't often check on us, brought our drinks really late and didn't share updates on the status of our food. When we did ask, she shared excuses and no apologies. Food: Our party of four wasn't impressed. One order was cold, several dishes were bland and lackluster for being on the gulf and ordering seafood. My guy's grouper sandwich was cooked well, but incredibly bland - the potato salad was bland as well. My burger was decent but lukewarm at best. The Asian slaw was bland. Two other orders weren't great - the beef nachos were cold and pretty visually unappealing - check out the pics. And the last order, shrimp and fries - you guessed it, also bland and cold. Timing: The young wait staff shared so many reasons for our over ONE HOUR wait, only to have cold / lukewarm food delivered. She spent several minutes at the end of the night sharing why our orders took so long, how the kitchen staff were backed up and understaffed with inadequate space and indirectly, why we should be thankful we had food arrive. Oh, and she mentioned on several occasions how thankful we should be about sitting in a table reserved for "5 or more" despite offering other seating options (there were none) and how she'd "let it slide." How to recover: If you happen to be management reading this, what would've been nice, at least for our party, would have been: - Take accountability: even saying "we are slammed. My apologies as it's likely your order will take some time. How else can I help make this a good experience?" would have gone a long way. And really, we were a table of 4. If you'd rather us not sit at the table reserved for 5 or more, sit us elsewhere. - Check food temps. Heat things up if they aren't coming coming out together and end up sitting on the counter for a long while. - Stop by more often and share some updates. It's disheartening to get a spiel at the end of the night, after an hour has passed, about why our food hasn't arrived - and after we've had to ask several times. - Offer your genuine apologies rather than anything else. Acknowledge what went wrong. It goes a long way. As someone who's grown up in the customer service industry and had a family restaurant background, there were so many opportunities to have recovered an "in the weeds" night. We experienced none of them. Maybe next time; likely not for us, but maybe for others. read more

We sat at the bar excellent service, the drinks here are the best that I've seen all week long $8 I've been paying between $19 - 15 every other bar and restaurant we have been to. This restaurant has a great view, with live music when we went. They do have a small kitchen so the wait time for food took a while but our server was very attentive and let us know ahead of time. They checked on us and kept our drinks full. Coming with kids might be difficult depending on how busy it is, and the wait time, but there is plenty of room to walk around with them if needed while waiting. My shrimp were grilled perfectly, and other members of my party enjoyed wings, burgers, and chicken tenders. Also, a delicious margarita.
