I notice they were posting that they were going to be open on certain days for breakfast and decided to stop by on my way to work. So being that is winter season she had some warm tamales, burritos, variety of fresh bread, cake slices, cupcakes and champurrado- It is a traditional Mexican chocolate drink that is thickened with pinole (ground maize flour), Cinnamon, whole clove, and star anise (keep in mind that there are a variety of versions). On my stop I bought some tamales and champurrado. I really enjoyed the champurrado, it was just perfect not to sweet and not to bland and enough consistency on the thick side. As for the tamales, I order their chicken with red salsa, cheese with jalapeno salsa and chicken with Mole (traditional Mexican thick sauce). I have to say that I have had better, but I have to keep in mind that there are a variety of tamales and all are done differently. So to me they were decent and it will all depend on each person palette if they like. I was disappointed in not getting some of their fresh bread but did not want it sitting at my desk all day, but will update the review once I try it and their cakes (which I already placed an order and will post pictures). There menu may change either by season or new added bread, pastries or delicious sweets, so keep that in mind and would suggest to go in and look. P.S...They also have homemade ice cream, but because of the cold weather, I did not even bother getting tempted.

As I do almost…read moreevery Saturday morning I like to get up and head to the farmers market to see what new things I can find and this particular day I went to the Trussville Fresh Farmers market that had finally opened and it was close to home. As we walked through the farmers market looking at all the cool things we came across Velvet Kake LLC. It's a black owned business but that's not why we were drawn to it. I mean look at all the delicious baked good treats she had nearly everything you could think of and I was so surprised Auntie (not my real Auntie) said all these items were baked that morning. Yall we didn't get there till a little after 8am. Think about that for a second. Impressive right?! Anyways this post is getting long so real quick this is what I personally bought. Peanut Butter Cake: yall this was so freaking good it was hands down probably one of the softest moistest piece of cake I have ever had and I give it a good 9.8/10 I also got the chocolate chip cookies. For the size of these things they were good and soft. Not much to say. I love a good cookie and it was made exactly how I like them and for that 9.5/10. I plan to go back and purchase more goods that's for sure. Please if you can go support this lady and her business however you can. You can find Velvet Kake LLC on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, and X (Twitter). They have a website link but the website no longer works. But I believe there may be an email somewhere. I purchased some red velvet cupcakes and a slice of pound cake. This was some of the BEST pound cake I've ever had! Whew .... Go get you a slice!!! The cupcakes weren't for me but they were okay. I'm not a red velvet fan , so yeah. I will say, they were a nice size and very pretty. Worth the price for sure! Prices were very reasonable. I wanted to buy a cinnamon roll , some cookies and a cake slice. All of her baked goodies looked soooooo good. I will definitely be back to get more pound cake and some cookies . What the heck , I might get one of everything in the shop!! Stay tuned .....

The lady was assisted me was welcoming. Their desserts were all individually packaged and the portions were nice. I ordered a slice of key lime cake and a slice of lemon glazed pound cake. Both were average in taste. I really enjoyed the icing on the key lime cake; it was the perfect amount of sweetness. They also offer cakes in a jar ; which is a neat concept. I plan to try one the next time. Overall this was an okay experience.

My daughter insisted on going over and looking to see what kind of sweet treats they had. It was the late afternoon/early evening and we were informed that some of the items were out of stock. My daughter wanted to try the blue razz candy apple and I tried a slice of red velvet cake with no pecans. We got in the car and of course my daughter was excited to try the candy apple. So we had no complaints there. We got home and tried the red velvet cake. It was OK. It didn't have that fresh taste, moist taste. We ate 2 bites of the cake and my daughter agreed.
