Well I struggled with writing this review or not writing one at all. After searching and finding a top notch shooting range we were informed that the business has been sold the City of Roswell. They will turn the building into a new state of the art E911 call center and keep the shooting ranges for the local and surrounding Law Enforcement Officers. They will be open maybe another month or so. But that aside I thought it right to recognize SharpShooters as one of the top notch shooting ranges in the area. A very clean and organized front part of the business with pleasant and very knowledgeable counter representatives. Including ammunition, targets and even a gun smith shop. Training of all types available with actual class rooms. The store has many ranges available with multiple layers of security to get in and out including video, viewing windows and range master to insure proper usage of firearms. All is very impressive. I even made a few friends with some of the LEO's. One even was admiring my firearm so I let him test it. I thought my fireman was pulling a little to the left but after seeing his target with the bullseye blown out I knew it wasn't the firearm. lol. The lighting is different than I'm use to and I was just starting to get in the groove. lol. Oh well. I'm disappointed in the closing but happy for the City of Roswell and all the LEO's that will be able to use the facility. read more

I've never been to a range where the Range Safety Officer was not only present but extremely informative and approachable. He would readily recognize teachable moments and warmly provide advice/instruction if asked as well. I left a better, safer and more knowledgeable gun owner. We are cliché in being people that had extremely anti-gun attitudes...until we felt that we needed one. Fortunately, we have a diverse group of friends--including some that are very pro-gun--that stepped up for us when we decided it was time to explore our 2A rights and lent us some firearms until we could acquire our own. This is where SharpShooters enters the story. We've been never to a gun range. We had no idea how to use shotguns or handguns; even the fundamentals of loading were foreign to us. After discovering SharpShooters online, we booked several private lessons (with Glen) so we could get qualified and individual instruction. Skip ahead a couple months later, and we're now the owners of four guns...two of which we purchased from SharpShooters (and got great deals), and all of which we continue to receive excellent support and training at SharpShooters now that we visit at least once a week to develop our skills. This includes help on the range (with the RSOs) and in the shop. If you are new to guns, I highly suggest this place--starting with their private lessons, as well as with getting a membership. Not only do you get objective benefits (e.g., lane reservations or to-the-front-of-the-line if you walk in), but you do get treated like a *member.* My only "problem" is that I'm afraid they've set a very high standard for gun ranges, because it is my understanding that ranges usually aren't as clean, friendly, modern, etc. read more

I've been several more times to the range and feel a pressing need to remove a couple of stars. Safety is a huge factor. While waiting on our range time, we stood at the window to watch the other shooters. One shooter had flagged another lane between shots, totally careless. If there was an RSO, s/he didn't see it. Another patron took their firearm away from their assigned lane and carried it to the back. When doing so, it was pointed directly at me (albeit through the glass), and then he cased it up. Again, the RSO was nowhere to be found. I raised my hands at him like "what are you doing, idiot" and he didn't even notice. I can't visit an unsafe range and won't be going back. This happened two visits in a row (not these specific interactions, but of a similar type) so I'm done with the place. read more

Hands down the best shooting range and store I have been to, they almost always have a great selection of firearms (current shortage excluded) and ALWAYS have the best prices. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, they have helped me select many great accessories for my firearms (I typically know which weapon I want to purchase before visiting, but I am sure they would be great at assisting with that as well). Every time I walk in, I am greeted as though I have known the folks working for years. I will admit, the guys can be kinda intimidating at first, but it's a great group of people!!! The gunsmith (I cannot remember his name at the moment, I apologize) is extremely helpful, a wealth of knowledge and extremely willing/able to help or answer questions! Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this establishment, the employees or the atmosphere. There a gun shops and then there's SharpShooters USA. I've been to dozens of gun ranges in my life and this is the best one by a long 500 yard shot with a strong crossing wind. Unlike most gun ranges this place has plenty of friendly staff to help you out and give advice. I bought a Nikon scope 50% off and they are going to mount it and sight it in for a very reasonable price. I recently bought a firearm and was searching for some classes to learn about safety and procedure and came across Sharp Shooters in Alpharetta. As someone who was very new to all of this I was a bit nervous going into it but was soon put at ease. I took Maddy's first of three classes covering basic safety and shooting and it was everything I had hoped for and much more. She was very knowledgeable, engaging and easy to talk to. She covered a lot of the basics that I really was hoping for. I will be returning for her other classes. The staff was all very friendly as well and the facility was clean and inviting. After spending nearly $20,000 on many firearms here over the last few years, for some reason I was turned down on a background check. No big deal, so I went and renewed my carry permit. They don't give carry permits to felons. I came back to buy another gun, this time with my new permit. Before I could even walk in the front door, Ken, the old man (manager) very rudely stopped me at the door and told me I wasn't even allowed to come into the store because my previous background check had mistakenly came back denied. Keep in mind, this is after I had already bought tons of guns and ammo from them in the past. So they ring up the gun, I hand them my permit, and they won't sell me the gun. Again. Keep in mind, GA law states that if you have a carry permit, you can forgo the background check at the time of purchase. Well, Ken has a special dislike for me for some reason, even though I have been an outstanding customer to them for many years. The Nics came back denied, AGAIN. There is obviously some mistake in their system, because I went up the road to another store and walked out with the very same rifle an hour later. The next day, I return to the store with my little brother with only the intention of using my personal guns for some target practice. Well what do you know, Ken comes over and kicks me and my little brother out of the store. FOR NOTHING. FOR. NOTHING. Do not waste any of your money on these assholes. They don't know the laws, they're a bunch (not all) of cocky mother fuckers, and their prices are insane. They used to be a great store. I don't know what happened to them. read more

This was my first time ever using a firearm. The people here were very helpful informing me on how to handle the hand gun and best practices for using it. I was able to use a 50% coupon for my first check in here and reduced the rental from 70$ to 35$. I was supplied with 50 rounds, safety glasses, ear protection, a gun of my choosing, and a target. New and clean facility has many amenities such as a well stocked store, gun rental, a lounge area, snack & drink machines, simulation and classroom. Excellent views are afforded to the shooting ranges. As a complete novice to the sport I couldn't judge the prices except for the handgun which I'd been researching. I was able to get it on sale for the same price as the lowest price I'd found online. The staff I've encountered so far are all very friendly and helpful. Our instructor had an amazing history in real-world military and police experience and many years as a trainer. The class was enjoyable, understandable, and full of practical information. Hands-on review of the different guns, tactical simulation, and then practice on the shooting range was perfect for all three of us and is perfect for the novice. We left with a huge improvement in our ability and comfort level with weaponry. We very much look forward to continuing our training as Fred Becker's skill as a marksman and trainer is incredible. read more

SharpShooters is an amazing gun range and store. I think Kevin (the new owner) has been doing an amazing job. The staff is always extremely friendly and unbelievably helpful. I have never, ever had a bad experience here (and I'm here literally once a week). As a member, I get special discounts on ammo, unlimited range time, and sneak peak deals. SS has been adding new classes weekly, from hands-on training to legal advice for concealed carry holders. They've really worked hard to build a brand that exceeds the highest of expectations, and that's represented in the classes they hold and the people they hire. I really feel like part of a family when I come here. Again, the staff is tremendously helpful. When I first came here, I mentioned that I had no experience with ARs. Each time I came in, I spoke with different staff members and each one helped me understand AR systems more and more. I eventually got comfortable enough to lay down some cash for a JP15. It's been quite a ride and now I'm hooked. I also appreciate that SS holds monthly events to help raise money for gun rights, K9, police, etc. You name it. Impossible to negotiate any type of transaction, without severely destroying your brain cells. The owner seems imprevious to the situation, so he keeps hiring dim young staff. Such a shame! Decent range and the front desk were awesome people. The reason I'm giving a two star review is the range officers. They are racist and will ignore others. I asked for a chair to zero in my vortex, straight up just says we don't have any chairs. When clearly there were a couple of chairs! That was strike one, then saying some racist remarks. Im a vet and still serving and this old man dare to make some racist remarks like that. Does not sit with me and these range officers need to go to a EO class. To treat everyone equally. I liked this place a lot, it's just that it's not the best place for first timers or those with little experience. They do have guns to rent if you don't have your own, but the people that go there are most likely members that have their own guns. My experience as a first timer: You go in and they explain the packages and answer any questions. Then they hand you the guns and you're on your own. The guy told us he'd be there if we had any questions while shooting, but it's different than being there the whole time and guiding you. They briefly explained to us how to load the guns, but they go through it really fast, assuming you've done it before (even though he knew we were first timers). You have to purchase the ammo as well as ear plugs/glasses. Thankfully we went with someone who has shot a gun before and has had experience, or else we would have been completely lost. I recommend this place if you want to go to an indoor range but I think it's better for those with tons of experience or for those who go with someone that has a good amount of experience. read more

I went here a few weeks ago with the intention of buying a membership. No Way! These guys are not friendly and ignored me while chatting with each other behind the counter while you wait until they are done. I rented a gun I was interested in buying. It was filthy. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The chatty boys should be cleaning guns. Also I was given the wrong caliber ammo for the rental they gave me. When I pointed it out they were indifferent about it. Never made eye contact with the customer. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. The shooting range was well supervised and clean. And the rental selection of dirty guns is good. I joined Johns Creek Shooting Range and bought two guns a few weeks later. read more

My mother-in-law had wanted to go to a shooting range for a long time, so my husband and I got her a private lesson (with us) and range time. We booked with Glen Mizer and I am SO glad that we did. Considering she had never even held a gun before, he made it comfortable for us to ask questions and really was knowledgeable and friendly! We had such a good time with him, and it got even better when he brought us out to the range. He had some great tips, and was very hands on as we shot. Have been a member for many years, but cancelled my membership today. I'm an IDPA shooter & our Wednesday night matches were just canceled. Management is saying it was a financial decision & that our match director was approached to negotiate a solution. Simply not true! There are two sides to every story. The gun range is good and reasonably priced. Their rental selection of guns is limited and they generally have only one of each model available. Their sales department, on the other hand, is atrocious, and their prices are ridiculous. My girlfriend came in and looked at several handguns and decided on one she wanted to buy. The salesperson helping her, who was consistently kind and helpful, disappeared for over a half hour "processing" her purchase, and it was only when we found him that she learned she needed to fill out the background check. She did, we left, and did not hear back from Sharpshooters until two days after the deadline. During that time we discovered the same handgun at another store for over $100 less, went there, purchased the weapon, ran the background check and brought it home, all before Sharpshooters got back to us about the background check. Also, I purchased a gadget to help load 9mm clips. They charged nearly $40 for this piece of plastic with a spring leaf, only to find out that Amazon had this same tool for a little over $10. And the fiber optic sights were similarly marked up, charging over $150 for two add ons that I can get for a little over $50 online. Definitely don't recommend buying anything from these guys. read more

However I have yet to find one As Professional Shooter friendly, Knowledgeable Staff, Incredible gunsmith, Selection of product, Computerized, clean. I just can't say enough, however their knowledgeable staff is the crux of their success in branding "SharpShooters" as the GOLD STANDARD in Atlanta gun ranges. SharpShooters USA - fn 45 silencer & m&p 40 compact - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Roswell, Georgia

A more expensive range than I'm used to, Sharp Shooters is nonetheless a nice place to shoot with brand new facilities and state of the art range technology. 1st star -- location. I love GA Firing Line but I hate driving out to Marietta from Roswell. Quickshot in Decatur is a weekend luxury at best. My outdoor range in Adairsville is even further away. Sharp Shooters is located across the Hyundai dealership on Highway 9 in Roswell. It's in what looks like an oversized Walgreens (it's not) looking building. Plenty of parking out front. 2nd and 3rd stars -- roomy, modern, clean lanes. My experiences at indoor ranges are limited to American Classic Marksman (ACM) in Duluth and the aforementioned GA Firing Line. The latter is getting upgraded now and will most likely get a lot better ventilation. ACM, I always thought, had decent ventilation and relatively good lighting. Neither had a lot of room to organize your stuff if things got crowded. Sharp Shooters is very different from either of these locations. The lanes are wider than most, enclosed in glass. The glass is thick and, I'm assuming, bullet proof -- not the wooden or older metal separators you might find at other ranges. There's two (2) spots on each lane shelf for ammo and a firearm. There are no shelves at the back wall behind the lanes, so you have to set all your belongings in the lane with you. The wider lanes, however, make this a little less of an issue than at other ranges, I think. The target system is cool -- it's a keypad control system -- enter your desired range in yards, press the checkmark button, and the automated target line will run your paper target out to the proper distance. No guessing your distance from faded painted lines on the range walls. When you're done, punch in zero (0) yards and bring the target back in. Lighting and ventilation are incredible. The ceilings feature (bullet ridden) baffled ceiling panels (they are pointed at the lanes) which have lighting above them that, I guess, can't get hit. I'm not sure if this is an accurate description of what I saw, but the basic gist is that it's very consistently well lit to the back wall. No cordite smell here either -- climate control is exquisite at this range. Never smelled it once. 4th star -- safety rules. When you first visit Sharp Shooters, you'll be asked to watch a 2 minute safety video. The basics include wearing ear eye / ear protection at all times, only one active weapon in a lane at any given time, stepping back from the lane if / when the violation alarm and flashing light go off, etc. You cannot get into the range foyer without being buzzed in first. The foyer features a "lead" washroom where shooters are encouraged to wash their hands/face in a large stainless steel basin sink after shooting. You will be asked to wear a nametag showing your lane # at all times. Range safety officers (RSO) will monitor things going on in the range proper. If you have a misfire, they'll come over and help confirm that the firearm is safe to use. If you go past the barrier of your lane, a laser tracking system will fire off the aforementioned alarm and flashing light. This is somewhat annoying, as flapping target paper will set it off unnecessarily. 5th star -- price and the overly "fancy" feeling. It cost nearly $70 for (3) people to shoot here. $20 for the first person in each lane. $15 for the 2nd person in a lane. No more than two (2) people per lane, so if you come with a group of friends to shoot, it could get expensive. Granted, this is unlimited range time per person, but I honestly do not like to shoot for more than 40 minutes at a time. My hand begins to hurt and I start losing $$$ burning through ammunition. A time-based lower rate would be nice, but given the newness and potential area clientele, perhaps the price is right. Just don't be surprised if Eddie Murphy wanders in with a special delivery of plutonium nitrate multi-explosive sound-seeking projectiles -- it IS kinda fancy. read more

However, from the counter to the range he felt that this place didn't want him there. They actually lost two customers, and the chance to have him buy a gun.
