Update...Instead of working with the family I found a service notice hanging on the door. The noticed stated to please contact to re-establish service, seriously!! I then went and checked the tank and found the regulator disconnected from the tank but still attached to the house! I'm not sure but I believe that is illegal and a big safety issue! read more

We bought a home that had Shasta Gas tank on property so we stayed with them. Noticed after 2nd fill the tank was going through the propane faster than usual, I asked for driver to check for leak. They checked and no issues supposedly. Now a YEAR later we are told by their own driver yesterday that we have a leak. We paid close $800 for about 70% of tank to fill, TWO months earlier than our schedule due to this leak. I DO NOT recommend this company if you want to trust their word at their own gain. read more

I try very hard not to leave scathing reviews but the office manager of Shasta Gas would not let me speak, so here goes. First: Shasta Propane should respond and tell their side, absolutely. This was my experience. I left a message about possibly smelling propane at 5:30 pm. I got a call back at 8 am the next morning. Now I know to call their emergency pager and leave a message. With a possible leak during the Salt Fire, I just wasn't thinking that well & propane actually has a smell that I still don't recognize well. So: their outgoing message says, "If this is an emergency, call XXX." I know nothing about propane (it came with the house): I wasn't sure if it was an emergency. So, yes, I learned. And brain needs a prompt like "If you even think there is a possible gas leak, call 911 and then collar emergency number." I've never called them after hours for a leak. And, again, wasn't 100% sure/I didn't want to waste anyone's time. So stupid of me. The 8 am phone cal person was cranky, and offered to send out a tech for $60. Then they kept me on the phone to pay an outstanding balance---during a issue of possibly smelling gas. I talked to two people that morning : neither told me to get out of the house or call 911. They took time to confirm an outstanding balance and update my credit card information. I 100% absolutely said to them, ugh, I'm so over it and I am calling AmeriGas. This is messed up. This was all happening during the Salt Fire. Smoke's everywhere. Dang. I called AmeriGas: "Let me stop you right there: If you think you smell gas, don't touch anything, get everyone out of the house NOW and call 911." Yikes. So I called 911. 911 dispatch said, get out of the house immediately. Yes, stupid of me. BUT: The first experts I spoke to was my provider, Shasta Gas. I spoke to two people there. They never said leave the house, never said call 911. After the fire department came out, I called Shasta Gas: YES; I sure was irritated. The women I talked to (who was 8 am person) got more irritated with me, for sure. So: Everyone's irritated. Then I get a call back from their tech, Dennis, who said he's like to come out for free, explained things to me. Okay, great. THEN office manager then asked Dennis to pass her the phone. Apparently this is the owner's daughter. Sooooo: office manager/owners daughter asked to talk to me, and she hammered me. Her concern was that I "threatened to fire them". She was heated. She did not ask about any fire department concerns (she never let me tell her, nor did she ask), our safety, asking why I called 911 rather than go with their tech/pressure test offer. She said AmeriGas isn't local and they don't understand. I now think I was being an idiot and calling 911 for even a possible gas leak is universal. She didn't let me talk. THEN...she hung up on me: "I'm done talking to you." Their guy Dennis was a pro: Excellent. Their office manager, she got personal, blamed the customer, wouldn't let me talk after asking to talk to me, and hung up on me during a leak situation apparently because "I threatened to fire" them. Thank goodness I called AmeriGas and--from their advice--called 911. Rather than berate me, tell me calmly to take me business elsewhere. She 100% scared me, actually, and me feel like crap in what was a stressful situation. read more

Was one of their first customers back in 1997 when they started out with only one truck. Chuck was great and kept it great until he passed the business on. We have a 500 gallon propane tank and he always gave us a discount as we took a large volume and the fact we were truly one of his first customers. When he retired several years ago I called and was told I would no longer get a discount. As a business owner myself I would have continued on like Chuck treated us. Dont get on Karen's bad side. And beware, it takes very little to get you there. I was looking to switch service to someone better than amerigas. The shasta gas survey guy who came out to take a look was friendly and great. 'No problem, we can get you gas." Then there was 1.5ish weeks of trying to get it scheduled, but they needed to know if my house tanks were owned or rented. Nobody really knew what was required to verify that....maybe i needed to call amerigas, maybe they would... My amerigas online account says 'customer owned tank. I asked of that was fine. That was the week and a half or so...trying to find out. Then front desk gal i was. as on the phone with said it was fine and said i was scheduled for their next trip out (10 days away). Great! 10 days later i called to put my card on the account. There was some hesitation...i was suddenly sure i wasnt getting my tanks filled that day. "Did you call Amerigas?" Ughh. No, you said it was fine and I was scheduled to be filled today. She put me on hold. Now, all that was just how it goes, no big deal. Then Karen got on the phone. It was a fight from the get go. Apparently they had emailed and hd been waiting for weeks for screenshot showing 'customer owned tank'. Karen didnt care that id never received an email. Nor that I had been told all was good to go and scheduled for delivery. She didnt believe me (nor let me speak without interrupting) and didnt care or give any room for miscommunications/non-delivered emails/etc. (if theyd been waiting, why didnt they call/email a reminder? Was i ever actually scheduled for delivery like id been told i was?) Sure i was a little upset that gas wasn't being delivered as expected 10 days later. And certainly some of that was in my voice but I was then very surprised that Karen "didnt feel good about it and wasnt going to service my account." I was dumbfounded by that, seemed out of left field. Who does that over a miscommunication/non-delivered email? And the conversation then ended very quickly. All i can guess is that she thought i was trying to scam them by not providing proof of tank ownership (thats an important verification for propane delivery companies). But if id known they wanted a screenshot they would have had one ten minutes later. And then two weeks later my elderly mother calls to smooth things out/see if we could get back on track. And Karen again....wouldnt listen to a word or let my mom talk, "he was rude". It takes a lot, and i do mean a lot, to make my mother hang up the phone angry. Ive seen it exactly one other time in my 48 years. But im sure Karen is getting lots of sympathy at work for having to deal with such a rude family! (Or which i suspect, the good people in the office are rolling their eyes and keeping their mouths shut so they dont have to deal with her more than necessary.) Unfortunately for me, Shasta Gas, by which i mean Karen, wasnt interested in keeping my house and office warm this winter. read more

I used this gas company and filled my tank in the summer and before I turned my heater on for the winter months, my tank was empty. I then had to pay over $700 to fill it again only for it to last two weeks in a 250 lb tank. Filled it again and less than 3 weeks it was empty. I had them do a pressure test and they said the tank was fine. This went on for two years, having to fill it at least once a month. Finally I told them to come and get their tank. read more

Don't run out of gas. Even if it is an honest mistake and you call in knowing that it isn't an easy fix and you know there will be costly and inconvenient concessions you'll need to make. It doesn't matter. You get serious attitude. You are first laughed at and ridiculed - not in a funny way, by one of their female employees, and if you speak against being laughed at by telling them you don't appreciate that, you are then lied to about your account and situation by being told your account is on hold when it isn't (every bill we have received by them has been paid the same or next day), then when you show up in person to handle this situation and then go ahead and try to pay the upcoming bill ahead of time, the same woman enters the credit card information wrong in the terminal and tells you the credit card was declined (Thankfully our bank sent me an immediate text telling me the expiration date or security code was entered incorrectly and to try the transaction again (thanks Citibank!)), which she did and it was then approved. Their technician then came out a few hours later, and what he found going on with our tank was enlightening, to say the least. We thought we may have lost track of our gas usage after dealing with serious weather issues (snow and ensuing power outage) a few weeks ago, thinking we may have increased out propane usage during that time (which we didn't think we had since we were only using the stove to heat water during that time, but why else would we run out?). We have had a propane tank for five years with this company, and this is the first time ever we even came close to running out of gas, much less actually doing just that. Shasta Gas charged us an extra $250 for a "pressure test" and an "out of route" fee - which we later found out is not charged that high at other local companies (not shocking after everything else). Anyway, they filled us up and did the appropriate testing and lo and behold....they found a gas leak on their tank at the valve that was significant enough that the attendant there couldn't fix it when tightening. To me, that explains the missing gas, but we were told later by a different person that there wasn't enough of a gas leak to explain our running out of gas (of course)...aka, your stuck paying the over-priced fees to get the tank in working order bucko!....even though the tank and its issues belong to Shasta Gas. Sigh. Then, of course, a few days later, we get a bill from them with a demand notice saying we owe them what we already paid by credit card a few days prior, and it was due asap. Yet another thing for us to deal with. I figure it was just yet another way for that employee to try and anger us again. Needless to say, we have moved on as of today with a more reputable local company that understands and cares about their customers needs. We should have changed our propane company four years ago when they gave us excellent service setting up our Rinnai tankless water heater during our whole home remodel, but we are with them now. If we run out of gas again (which I doubt will ever happen again, but you never know), at least we know we won't be laughed at or ridiculed about it. I never want to have our family experience what we just went through ever again. read more

I'm back to review this company again. I'm sad to say as much as I like to support local customer service plays a huge part. I left Shasta Gas due to terrible customer service. The gal ( do not know her name but heard it's the owners daughter) answers the phone and talks to you in such a rude tone. I ordered propane and asked if I gave her Mt card number could she run it in two days when I got paid. She was absolutely not having it and kept repeating herself you have to pay today. After I told her I would figure it out and pay that day. If you cannot provide an ounce of kindness you should not be in customer service. There are reviews on Facebook that identify this is not the first incidence. I found another great company with great customer service and they are local. Leo S Jones. You can pay online and they have the sweetest lady who answers the phone. So grateful I found another option. read more

Wow! I should have looked on Yelp before even using this company. We just purchased a home that utilizes propane gas. I end up using this company because the previous owners was already set up with them. Called the company to change info into my name, and credit card to be put on file for billing. They came out and fixed the regulator, never received a bill. I assumed they would just bill me when they fill up the tank at the end of the month. I have also contacted this company almost weekly since moving in for issues and concerns with my tank. NO one ever mentioned that I had an outstanding balance. Fast forward to today 5 day after tank was filled. My bill was $475 and $559 was taken out of my account. I called and they said that I was charged for a late fee for the regulator that was never paid for. I told her that I wasn't even aware or billed for it. They have my card on file, and why wasn't it taken out? Why was it taken out at the time that I was billed for the fill? She didn't even try to resolve the issue. I highly recommend that you do your research before using this company. We have experienced poor communication and they are not friendly or helpful when resolving a problem. There are many more companies in Shasta County that will work with their customers and not do sneaky stuff like this to make extra money. Also, I have never received their policy or anything stating that if a bill in not paid for within 15 days that there is a late fee. We live out in the sticks, so our heating, hot water, and gas range are all powered with propane. We've used Shasta Gas since we moved out to Palo Cedro a dozen or more years ago. It was real, Shasta Gas. So long, and thanks for all the negative waves, bitches. If you're going to pay twenty cents a gallon more propane, you expect better customer service for your money. Here's what I got with Shasta Gas: Really shoddy instrumentation so that I couldn't tell when I was running low without running out to the tank and looking at the shitty little gauge; no advice on when to time my propane purchases except that I should keep my tank full at all times; and (lately) rudeness. Here's what I'm getting with Blue Star: Cheaper propane; an instrument in my house that tells me not only how much gas I have left but other useful data as well (outside temp, for example); and prompt, friendly service. Here's what I'm giving up: With Shasta Gas, the "T" on their "Shasta Gas" logo is in the form of a big cross. That's right on the side of the tank, facing my back yard. So yeah, I'm going to have to do without pimping the owners' religious beliefs (or cynical marketing ploy, whichever). Bummer. read more

Shasta gas has been nothing but a headache for the past two years (2019-2021). First year of having Shasta gas as my propane provider there were minor issues with poor customer service to deal with the questions. I overlooked those problems and decided to stay with them...later realizing what a big mistake that would be. Being on a rental tank I have to monitor my propane usage and call in when I need more propane. I was getting to the 35% threshold on my tank so I called in for a delivery. The driver was friendly and came out the following week to fill my tank. When the driver arrived I asked if I could pay with card, he read my tank and gave me a sticky note with how much I would be charged then directed me to call the office and pay over the phone. A few weeks go by and I get an additional bill in the mail from Shasta gas. I call in to ask about this bill and get told it was a mistake and that they would remove it from my account. Three more bills come in with the same charge and each time and I was told the same thing each time, "It would be taken care of". It was never taken care of. I now received a bill with my yearly tank rental fee along with the extra charge (which should have been removed) now being cut in half. I of course call in and this time get to speak with Karen. Karen explained where the charge was coming from and blames her staff for giving me incorrect information that the charge would be taken care of. As the conversation continued on in circles she then explains that the charge was reduced to a lower cost because their was a senior discount applied to it. She implies that I had requested that senior discount in order to receive a cheaper price (I did not, I only requested that the charge be removed). I reminded her that the discount was applied by Shasta gas without any communication with myself. She then became more aggressive on the phone and told me, "If you are not happy with our services go find another company and let me know when I can pick up my tank!" I told her I was already in the process of that and then she hung up on me. I now have a different propane provider and my headaches are gone. read more

We have always had excellent service from Shasta Gas and Propane. Today, they went above and beyond by sending out a truck to add fuel to our tank even though they were closed. We are selling the house and literally an hour before final walk through we realized our tank was empty. That was not Shasta's fault, we had suspended keep full due to limited use. The technician arrived with fuel in less than 30 minutes, pressured checked the system and relit all the pilots. Forever grateful! read more

If there were negative stars, I would give this company -3. This all started when they installed some sort of automatic metering system that requires cell service to work. We are in one of the county's dead zones, so it doesn't work here. Instead of letting us know so that we could monitor use, we assumed that they would keep the tank filled, as we were on a plan to do so. Instead of letting us know, they concocted some formula that worked so badly that we ran out of gas! When we called about this, we were berated. No apologies. Just one excuse after another. Then when we ordered a fill, I said I wpuld send a check. That did not suit them. Instead I was instructed to leave it at the tank, which I did. When the driver showed up, he demanded a check from my friend who was staying at the house. We had specifically said not to bother her as she was recovering from surgery. We, naturally, assumed he took the check to the office, but instead it was "lost"--although the woman I spoke with acted as if that were my fault. Again, no apologies, just rude comments and accusations as if we had done something wrong. Yeah, like trying to figure out if they were going to try and cash a "lost" check while demanding replacement. Their go-to response "if you aren't satisfied, go somewhere else". Customer service at its finest. And this is how they treat cash-in-hand paying customers! Unbelievable! read more

The other comments here on Yelp stump me (from competitors, maybe?). I couldn't be happier with Shasta Gas. They've been professional, courteous and prompt in their dealings with me. Their price is better than other companies I've looked into. They even went above-and-beyond the call of duty (on short notice, no less) to assist with the re-jetting of a dryer for LP. Chuck and crew at Shasta Gas have been great to deal with, and I highly recommend them. I ran across these reviews while looking up the phone number online to reorder. I have only been buying propane (LPG) for six years, but in that time I have fired two companies and am now with Shasta Gas and have been for a couple of years now. As to the other two companies, I got tired of their excuses for over billing. I'd get slammed with gas when the winter price was about to change to a lower off season price. Another excuse was that their computer made an error in my billing. My all time favorite was when my neighbor (same company) paid $1/gal less than me one day apart. What BS! Shasta gas has treated me fairly from day one. I own my tank and when I ask for a price they sometimes give me a lower one. Can you beat that? In an industry that seems to be rife with unscrupulous people, it is a relief to do business with Shasta Gas. To the one stars...hope you're happy with the companies I fired. Times are hard and propane expensive. I realize the POLICY is 100 gallon minimum and understand that.. What i dont understand is how i could have $125.00 cash, be out of propane and have them across the strret from me, but deny me propane because i didnt have 282.00!!!! Really!!! Now i will run completely out since i sit at zero percent and they will charge me another $100.00 for lighting my pilot lights when i can afford for them to come so now we are at $382.00. then if i need them to come before a Monday its another $75.00.. So grand total is $452.00... they could have taken my $125.00. they would have had some moolah and myself some propane. But unless they are gonna get 450.00 bucks out of me, I am screwed... I've had Shasta Gas for about 9 months now. They came highly recommended through a couple people I trust. This is my first time having a home that uses propane, and everything has been a learning experience. The customer service for a "newbie" like me has been wonderful. The service workers that deliver the propane have answered all my questions, drove safety (we have young children running around), and were friendly. In addition, the office staff has been equally as professional on the phone with me, and their customer service is great. I appreciate being able to call a local telephone number and talk to a real life person when I have a question or problem. Very, very glad I was recommend Shasta Gas and Propane. read more

Prompt, courteous, helpful and we have not found them to be expensive -- just the opposite when we called around. I have to agree that we didn't like the big cross on the tank: I also don't like someone else's religious views shoved in my face. This all started on 2/26/2019. I unfortunately ran out of gas my fault (or so I thought). Upon calling and asking if I could get filled I was told " Oh did you forget you had a tank..HaHaHa". I then was told my delivery date is on Friday...today is Wednesday! Then told "I'm sorry sir your account has been suspended" (apparently it wasn't)! Went to there office (6.8miles away) to see what the problem was? Was told to fill the tank it will cost $120 for an out of rout fee, another $120 to pressure test the line & a $3 delivery fee! I then asked to talk to the owners, was told they were unavailable. Oh the minimum delivery is 100 gallons! Pissed! I paid the $553.21 bill to get my gas on. When they came out to fill it, they found the bleeder valve was leaking (driver put the note on the delivery ticket). This is their tank! There was no reimbursement what so ever! Jason said "it may have leaked 15-20 gallons..not a big deal". Two days later I received a demand notice for $553.2, PAY WITHIN 15 DAYS! I have never been late paying my bill to them, most times I pay same day. The office MANAGER is the worst! I wanted to buy a tank, so I can get gas from whomever. was told it would be about $1000. & the office MANAGER said they would not fill it! She said "we no longer wish to do business with you"! She accused me of being rude to her staff, I've been nothing but friendly overly nice every time in that office! want to see receipts ask to see my account #10189. JUST HAD MY NEW TANK SET BY BLUE STAR GAS! Just call them they will help, tell them Mike J. sent you! YOU WILL MAKE A GREAT DECISION! read more
