As someone who loves Afghan food I knew I had to try naan kabob. My friend was vegetarian on this day but thankfully there were lots of vegetarian items on the menu and the staff was very accommodating. We ordered bolanee (spicy potato's in Afghan flatbread), babaghanoush (smoky egg plant dip) which came with warm pieces of naan bread, paneer kabab wrap (toasty bread filled with blocks of cheese) and masala fries on the side. However there was no masala spices on the fries which I didn't mind but I would have preferred it with spices. As for the paneer wrap there was a different taste with the cheese which I never had in paneer before. We were so hungry we just indulged in the food! And not to mention, the beautiful traditional Afghan decor, especially on the second floor. You must check it out. I hope to drink at the tea room one day read more

You order at the front counter, but they will bring the food to your table. The service is still good though! Table service would have made this place feel more like a formal restaurant. I've been here a few times now, and it's always been consistently good. The NK Grill is easily my favorite item on the menu. The chicken is juicy, the koobideh is well seasoned, and everything comes together really well with the rice and grilled vegetables. The portions are generous, and the food always tastes fresh. Located in a prime area, you can't miss it. The restaurant interior draws you in. We arrived for a late lunch. Inside the walls feature cultural art. It was at that time I noticed it said the Afghan Tea Room on 2nd floor. So you bet, I walked up those stairs to discover a whole area which was a lot more relaxed, lounge style seating. We decided to dine upstairs. The menu features everything from lamb, beef and chicken (whether in the form of a qorma, sandwich or platter. Decided to try Mantu (beef dumplings) & Waziri (chicken and shami kabob) platter. The Mantu was delicious, oozing with flavour! The chicken tandoori was probably the best tandoori I tried, it was grilled to perfection. The shami kabob was average. The kabuli rice was flavourful & the naan was fresh. It's accompanied with garlic sauce and hot sauce. The portion size was decent, we shared the plate and Mantu and had left overs. Wanted to finish the dinner by enjoying a cup of tea. The picture of the tea from the menu was a bit deceiving, I thought I'd be getting tea served in those small cups , possibly steeped. Instead, it was tea bag in a mug. They ran out of sugar, so provided icing sugar instead. Tea was my least favourite, it tasted a little off (the water itself or the tea bag) I definitely recommend the food, the tea not so much. We stopped in on a Saturday during our visit with a party of 12. We ordered the NK Mix and two Kabob Lover platters to share. Unfortunately, the top floor (tea room) was closed, so they joined tables on the first floor to seat us. I wish we had been seated upstairs, as it's much nicer. We had to place our order at the register, and the cashier added a tip before handing me the tablet for payment. It's hard traveling / dining out with a 1 year old, so we ordered take-out while staying at a nearby hotel. Large portions and reasonable pricing. Ordered a Tandoori chicken kabob and also a combination with beef kabob. Both were excellent with a very generous portion of rice. The take out portion of the salad was a bit on the small size, but fresh and delicious. I have a go to spot which is a bit further down and I am not a fan of the quite popular spot in East York as they are bland IMO. This place offers good value for money and doesn't hold back the seasoning as well. I had the Waziri Classic with rice and it came with a salad and a naan (as per their name :) chicken was not overcooked which is a welcome change. Kebab was decent as well. The sauces on the side were decent. I think a solid 3.5 stars all said and done. I will re-order. read more

We eat light dinners, but decided to give this place a try after an all day outing. So we shared a plate called NK Grill. It comes with three skewers, one chicken, one tandoori chicken, and one shami kabob that's similar to Persian koobideh, rice, naan, and a bit of salad. It was absolutely delicious and more than enough for two light eaters. Looks like their lamb shank is the most popular item as we saw many people ordering them. The ambiance is very pleasant and lively. There's a large drawing of again horsemen and brick walls that gives the place a nice vibe. There's also a more traditional dining area upstairs, but no one was there, at we stayed downstairs with others. Service is very good and responsive. Highly recommend this place. I think this is my new favourite place for middle eastern food. This is very comparable to Bamiyan Kabob which was the only great place I knew to eat at. We ordered ubereats and the flavour of the meals were very impactful and flavourful. I can imagine it tasting a notch better if it was fresh from dine in. All of the meats were very tender which we were surprised at especially the lamb because it was on the thinner side and charred a bit but all very moist and tender. The only thing is that there was a lady in front of us that wanted a refund for something and she was getting very upset with the people upfront. They had more than one person up there and could have processed other customers but they did not. It ended up taking us 15 minutes just to order because of that. Haven't been here for so long due to the pandemic so when I found myself downtown and in need of some lunch I jumped at the chance. The online ordering system is really simple and easy to navigate. You can set your pick-up window from ASAP (16-25 min) or further into the future if needed. My favourite from Naan and Kabob has always been there lamb shank dinner with the long grain rice mixed with sweetened carrots and sultana raisins. I'm was worried that they would no longer the side of their chicken qurma (Afghan style chicken curry) with the lamb shank dinner but it is still there to my surprize. The menu just doesn't explicity say so. :-) It's the best value for money dish in my opinion if you love a generous portion of bone-in lamb shank along with a mountain of brown rice with carrots and raisins. The chicken qurma is a really good at helping you clean up the rice. It is tomato-y, tangy, and got that little bit of heat throughout. This totally made my weekend and I got two meals out of it too! read more
