I've been enjoying Shatto products for a few years now. I am not a huge milk drinker, but have always been seduced by their flavored milks! Banana, chocolate, strawberry, orange, and root beer. I love them all. The banana is an excellent addition to chocolate cupcake batter and icing. I tried it for my son's birthday last year, and it added a nice, subtle flavor. As far as regular 'ol plain milk, that is good too! It is so fresh. The 1/2 and 1/2 is a decadent addition to coffee, and the cream is quite thick even before making whipped cream from it. I LOVE that they use glass bottles...for both the look, and for the environmental friendliness. I have also tried most of their other products - cheese curds, butter, soap, aged cheeses, ice cream, and lemonade. I have yet to try the iced tea or fruit punch. I don't have much interest in either of those items. The cheese curds are great, and I've tried a couple of the aged cheeses now and have not been disappointed. The Lilly is quite nice. The chocolate ice cream is hard to stop eating. I enjoy the soaps, but my heart lies elsewhere as far as favorite soaps go. The lemonade is also good, but homemade always beats out any other lemonade option for me. Oh! They also make eggnog around the holidays...it is out-of-control...if you like eggnog. Besides having enjoyed them at home, we use them in our business. It's the same quality, we have just gotten to know them better. Everyone associated with the business is so friendly and easy to work with. Leroy Shatto has even driven the hour to our shop to correct an order himself! He is awesome!! The price is more expensive than other milk, plus you will pay a bottle deposit ($1.50...refunded when you bring the bottle back to the store) but it is so worth it. The freshness is outstanding, you are supporting a local, family farm, and they treat their cows very nicely - lots of grazing, fresh air, no growth hormones, and lots of love. Quite simply, the best Chocolate Milk I've ever had anywhere in America. Shatto's chocolate milk is a secret obsession. I seek it out every time I go back to Kansas City, and I've had special shipments of it to sent here to Las Vegas. Yes, I'm dead serious. It's that good. The only butter I've found that's better is the butter I hand churned and made myself while growing up on a Grade A Dairy Farm. Their cheeses are good, definitely superior to many that are available but I've had some cheeses that are better. But for Kansas City, it's not bad at all. But back to that chocolate milk. I pay an individual to ship 6 gallons of it at a time to Vegas. It's not cheap to pay for that kind of service but this gets sent along with my resupply of Arthur Bryant's BBQ. And once it gets here it doesn't last very long. The Chocolate Milk will take it's rightful place on my Mythical 6th Star list as it truly is superior to anything else I've come across. We came for the family day on the farm. I love Shatto milk and thought it would be fun to see. We showed up about an hour before the stop time since it had poured the night before and people were getting stuck. We arrived and most things were already shut down, but we got to taste a couple kinds of milk. I'm still a fan I just wish we would've got there earlier if not everything was available after an hour plus drive. read more

I'm not a big milk drinker. I can't really stand to drink it alone, although, I do like it mixed with things like chai tea and macaroni & cheese. I mean, who doesn't?! I also seem to have a very delicate sense of smell when it comes to sniffing out old milk. It's a little joke in my family that I can't stand the smell of milk that's been open for more than a couple of days in the fridge. I used to have to have someone come over and dispose of old milk in my fridge because just the smell of dumping it down the drain would trigger my gag reflex and send me running from the room in horror. But then I discovered Shatto and my entire world changed. I'm still not a big milk drinker, but I'm no longer fearful of the milk in my fridge. In fact, Shatto milk will smell as fresh to me after a week in my fridge as it did the day I opened it. I don't know if it's the awesome, returnable, glass bottles. Or maybe it's just fresher milk because it's local. But whatever it is, I like it. I've even been known to use it after the date stamped on the lid! Something I would have NEVER attempted with other carton-type milks. The skim and 2% are my regulars. I also regularly buy their butter. Buying local, even if it is more expensive, has become something I strive for. I even went up to their farm and took the tour this last summer and got to sample all of their flavored milks. Banana, Strawberry, and Root Beer were mighty tasty! They had all of their cheese curds out for sampling, too. I don't see them often in the local grocery stores, so it was fun to try them. So, thank you, Shatto Milk! You have freed me of my crippling fear of milk, and for that I will go out of my way to buy you above all others. read more

This was the perfect detour on our little road trip!Even though we didn't get to take the tour, we went to the country store and they told us how to find the baby calves on our own, which was really cool! Then we went back for some milk samples and milkshakes, which were amazing. We loved all the different flavors, especially the cookies and cream, cotton candy, and coffee flavors. The ladies in the store were really sweet to us and our toddlers. Now I just wish they had their milk here in Omaha so I can have it all the time! read more

I want to love Shatto - but their home delivery is simply poor. The pricing is much higher, but you pay for convenience, right? However of my 4 weekly delivers, not one was complete....not one. This means a trip to the store every week to pick up what I was willing to pay to have delivered. Bummer. read more

This past Saturday the bf and I went on a tour de day trips around the KC metro. And by around I literally mean around. Our first stop, Osborn, MO, home of Shatto Milk. Most know them for their chocolate milk, which is of course award winning on the world stage and one of my favorite things (step aside Oprah). But what most don't know is that you can go tour their facility and sample just about everything! The dairy is about an hour outside of downtown on a picturesque piece of land. When we arrived I was immediately drawn to the old school milk truck in their lot, very cool. Inside we where greeted by a welcoming staff and everything Shatto. In the store you can shop their entire offering of dairy and juice as well as many other sundries and things. I enjoyed the large window into their cheese room. Nothing like watching milk become some of my favorite products right before my eyes. We also took in the tour for only $5. On the tour we saw the actual milking facility where we got to stick our fingers into the mechanized milkers to feel the gentle milking sensation usually only felt by Bessy's utters. We then moved over into the barn where we met Moogle the calf. Yes he has ties to Google, a great story you should ask about on your tour. In the barn we all got to milk a cow, try some fresh milk straight from the utter (only for the brave), and pet some pretty adorable calves! Next we moved into the bottling room where we saw first hand how milk travels from holding tanks to pasteurizers to tanks to other places and then into the bottle and on to store shelves. Let me say this, these guys work hard. Finally we made it back into the show room where we sampled all of the milks, cheeses, and butters. Now we all know their white milks are great and their chocolate is the best thing to happen to dairy since the invention of cheese, but not too many know that their other varieties are pretty fantastic too. Orange Dream taste just like a Fruit Loop, and Root Beer is basically a float, yum! Their Strawberry and Banana are rich in flavor with out being overpowering, and Coffee actually has coffee in it and taste just like a Starbucks pre-bottled Frap, only better. Lastly, the Cotten Candy. Now I know that I was a bit apprehensive about trying this one, but I am sooo glad I did. Not the kick in teeth I was expecting, just smooth sweetness. A must try for all Shatto fan's and/or general dairy fans alike. Over all this day trip was fantastic! An excellent and knowledgeable staff paired with a superior product. read more

What a lovely little place to visit! Such a great wholesome country place with an old fashion soda shop feel. This place produce its own organic milk that's as cool and fresh as the first snowfall of winter. They also make several different flavors of milk that are as sweet and satisfying as your favorite ice cream. You also pay a small deposit for the glass milk jug it comes in which is refundable when you return it but we kept them because of their uniqueness and versatility. If you are in the KC area, pick up a bottle at a grocery store and take the sight trip out of the way to go to the farm. You won't be disappointed! read more

I grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon with a population of 328 people, so after moving to Kansas City 4 years ago and discovering that there was a local farm with products readily available to me, I became a customer for life. Not only is this local farm so humbling and memorable for me, it makes me feel like I have a piece of home with me. The milk, oh my goodness the milk! It's the most delicious milk I have ever had! The Cotton Candy and Root Beer are my absolute favorite! The Root Beer brings back so many childhood memories of stopping by the ice cream stand with my dad on our way back from a hunting or fishing trip and picking up a root beer float or milkshake. If you've never had any of Shatto's milk then you've got to pick up a bottle from the farm or your local grocer. Take yourself back in time and try it. Who knew that Root beer milk would be any good? And the Orange dream is amazing! We took the tour this past Tuesday and it was very fun, albeit short. It's amazing how small a place it is. I've been reading the other reviews and have gleaned some good ideas for cooking with their milk. We also picked up some butter and cheese there. Very good! Overall, it was a fun experience and would definitely go again. I got to milk a cow for the first time while on the tour. Glad it's not something I have to do every day at the crack of dawn. read more

Does anyone know if there is a 12 Step Program to help me with my addiction to Shatto Milk? I am now addicted to the coffee milk. It's incredible. I wish so much they offered it in gallon jugs! Or a 5 gallon bucket would be even better. This milk is the best on the planet! Best price per bottle is at HyVee. They sell out fast there though. I had recently took a chance on a quaint, little glass bottle of milk that seemed to spring off the shelf, and after one taste ... they have a customer for life. I use the Whole milk in my morning cup of coffee, and there is nothing better than the feathery, creamy milk that I get from the Shatto Milk. You can literally take a short drive north to the Shatto facility and come face to face with the hard working bovines who create this delightful product line. There is nothing better on a blistering hot summer day to go greet a cow, visit a calf, pet a wandering cat, and then gulp down a pint of icy, cold rootbeer milk. I cannot wait for the heat of summer to fully enjoy the new line of SAMMMICHES. This delightful creations made from real Shatto Ice cream and delicious cookies are well worth the price. Oatmeal raisin cookies hugging a slab of caramel ice cream are well worth an extra 20 minutes on the treadmill. Shatto makes fun flavors that kids of all ages will love to try. This review is ONLY about the vanilla ice cream that I purchased from Hy-Vee in Prairie Village, KS. It is like ice MILK, not ice cream. Not rich and creamy, instead, watery ice crystals. Extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the 330 calories per serving. read more

I have to give an honest review here. I have had to go to the FDA about their product. The FDA will be testing heir Iced Tea here this week for contaminants. What Happened to spark this is that 3-4 weeks ago I opened a bottle of the tea (we get the home delivery) and have since it started back last year and have spent anywhere from 150.00/week-400.00/ week just on their products to be delivered. So we have invested a lot into the company. A little background as to why I'm having to give this review. The milk has started to come and only last for 2 days before smelling like it's been open for 2 weeks and sometimes even has curds in it after only being open for 2 days. I have contacted shatto on many occasions about the issue and they say to me, "nobody ever complains about this issue, it just must be you." Not something you want to hear from a comPany whom you invest so much into their product each week. However after asking around I have found that a few of just my close friends have actually stopped delivery with shatto or have stopped buying it in stores for the same exact issues with the milk. So I'm actually NOT the ONLY ONE that has has this issue! Second of all as to why I'm going to the FDA about their tea is because 3-4 weeks ago I opened a brand new bottle of their tea with the expiration date of September 1, 2016 I it. Poured a huge glass and started to drink it and it didn't taste right. I drank it thinking maybe it was just something with my taste buds. THEN I SMELLED THE TEA KN THE BOTTLE!! And it smelled like starlight gasoline or a strong chemical! And I drank that! about 30 minutes after I drank the tea I got the chills, I was shaking, I had A very high fever, could barely stand up, was freezing and couldn't stay warm even with a heat blanket on and 2 layers of clothes, and couldn't stop crying I felt so terrible. I contacted the company about the issue and they once again told me that nobody has ever complained about the tea and once again I have been asking around and YES MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE they just thought it was their tea and dumped it. SHATTO has done nothing on the issue but tell me every time that I'm the "only one" which I'm not. I have opened 3 teas since this bottle ALL WITH HE SAME SEPTEMBER expiration date and 3 have this same smell. I have never written a negative Yelp review and usually just let issues go BUT I felt completely compelled to warn others about this issue with this company so that nobody has to go through what I did. I was o the verge of going to the emergency room but I couldn't even stay upright to get myself into the car to be able to drive to the hospital or even make my hands stop shaking enough to type on my phone. I'm talking it was that bad. My only thought is that it poisoned me and I have these 3 bottles in my fridge still to be tested this week! Shatto DID ask for the remaining tea to be sat outside and let them know a good time so they could come collect it to dump it for me......BUT why? To destroy evidence of what may be in it? Yeah they too that initiative to come get it yes. BUT compassion for what happened other than to tell me "nobody has ever had this issue with their tea" none! If anyone would like to smell this tea.....I have 3 bottles and you can see exactly what I'm talking about with it. read more
