New to town and saw this place. Servers are all very nice and food was good. We sat inside and it was a bit noisy.

Cool atmosphere, good drinks, nice staff, clean place. I'd definitely come back. The outdoor space is really cute.

The space feels relaxed and approachable without trying too hard. Big open taproom, easy atmosphere, good energy. The kind of brewery where you can settle in for one beer and accidentally stay for five. Mary behind the bar was awesome right away. Friendly greeting the second I walked in, super knowledgeable about every beer on tap, and genuinely helpful without making anything feel scripted or sales-y. Hospitality matters to me a lot, and she made the experience feel welcoming immediately. I worked my way through quite a few beers: Hop Cuddle, the collaboration with Tall Trellis, their Mexican-style lager, Weathered Wit, Pavers Porter, and the rice lager. Every single one was excellent, but that rice lager was probably my favorite. Crisp, clean, refreshing, incredible mouthfeel -- one of those beers that disappears way faster than you planned. Weathered Wit deserves a shout too. Light tartness, citrus notes, classic Belgian yeast character, ridiculously refreshing. Everything you want from a witbier on a warm day and they absolutely nailed it. (beeradvocate.com) Also, I'm genuinely excited to see breweries collaborating again. Beer feels more fun when breweries are creating together instead of existing in separate lanes, and it's cool seeing that energy still alive in Kansas City craft beer.

It's definitely a spot I'd come back to on a normal weekend. The Drinks The Hits: The Hard Cherry Mash Sour Cider and the bright green Scooby Snack were both fantastic. The Miss: The Irish Coffee. They couldn't tell me what kind of coffee they used--a major red flag for a coffee cocktail. The Food (Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches) They were serving sandwiches from Bay Boy alongside gourmet chips. I grabbed the El Jefe with Sweet Onion Hawaiian chips. The Sandwich: A killer Cuban-inspired build on their signature Dutch Crunch bread. That bread is the real deal--super crispy on the outside and soft inside. Because of the crowds it did take about 20 minutes to get our food but the girl behind the counter was really nice despite trying to serve hordes of celebratory drunkies. The Atmosphere Beyond the beer, the parking lot was full of food vendors and some really cool cars. Definitely worth checking out for the vibes alone!

The space is friendly with its seating and there are plenty of games to keep you engaged while you enjoy your brew. The music theme lines the decor, with cassettes (remember those?) from all genres featured. Friction always has some of their own makings on tap as well as guest taps that can range from regional to national. The board will list the ABV for each beer, as well as the pour prices, and you can choose from anything between lighter ales to heavier stouts. I prefer the darker stuff and really love their 'Train in Vain', a brown ale with fabulous body. Don't miss their fresh-hopped varietals, such as the recent 'Earth & Sky', which gives you that right-off-the-trellis hoppiness. If you're not sure what you want, then the makers will always give you friendly suggestions. They're proud of their offerings and that pride comes through in the beer. Making unique craft beer is always a labor of love and Friction really shows you how they get it done.

All good things…read more.. We were invited to an impromptu event to taste the new additions to for the Menu when they reopen. They also were 'blowing the taps' which meant we get to try many of the beers that they were saying good-bye to. So, a little story. I was one of the first to wander into a place called Brew Lab years ago. I actually found the place because of looking for brewing supplies. There were a good amount of tools here but also these folks were serving their beer! So, what a great idea. I bought some grain... and had a few beers! I visited this place a few more times on the regular. Suddenly one day there was appetizers. And had the most divine pretzel bites that have ever existed. Next time was an amazing club sandwiches. And some pulled pork. All of the food has always been great bar food. And then there was the beer. So many delicious beers each time. Too many to try at once. But, that is all memory lane... Now... here is the news! Brew Lab is changing. The ownership remains the same however they have given up the brewing. They will have a few of their specialty beers that they keep on tap but they will have a lot more taps of beer from other breweries. On this visit they brought out a large amount of samples of the food that they will be adding/altering in the menu going forward. There were a lot of really delicious items and I am excited for when they have the full menu and I can order some of them. Most notably I am excited for the Catfish Po'boy sandwich. We will be back soon to try the all new... Tall Boys. Look for that review coming soonish!
