So, when it was time to buy a home last year I called around to some independents and got several quotes. Burkhart had by far the most to offer as far as plans and had the best pricing and customer service. I spoke with the owner originally and he helped guide me to the best policy for me. I ended up bundling to save on moola. Fast forward to this year when I got in a auto accident. I received multiple calls from Burkhart and from my insurance provider, Safeco, to not only check on me, but to help guide me through the process. I had many questions and they followed up with answers and really made my life as simple as they could. This company refuses to pay claims that are clearly covered in my policy. After providing clear,…read moredocumented evidence that Allstate's proposed roof repair violates Ohio Residential Code requirements, Allstate's claims department has continued to violate my policy and Ohio Administrative code in denying coverage. Facts and documentation do not matter to this company. My contractor said he's never seen anything like this. Specifically, this local agency has been copied on every email and refuses to get involved. Jack himself, the owner of the agency, has essentially shrugged and deferred to the claims department that continues to clearly violate Ohio code and the clear coverage in my policy. When you need support most, this agency is unwilling to provide it. Insurance companies earn their reputation when it's time to pay claims--not when they're collecting premiums. Based on my experience, Allstate failed that test. If you want to pay money to a company and never have them fulfill their end of the agreement, then this is the company for you. However, if God forbid, you ever need to file a claim against your insurance policy, run fast from this company.
