They sell specialty foods - I like specialty foods! They sell NYS products - I like to patronize those businesses. They sell cocktail making items - I LOVE cocktails. So I made the overdue visit. Compared to other specialty stores, this one is a bit smaller in inventory, but extremely well organized and varied. There was enough of everything in each area of merchandise for me to emit a few "Ooh's and Aah's. There's quite a few items I can see myself purchasing over the next holidays for friends and relatives with more challenging Christmas list to fill. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable.
