A few days before my appointment I receive a message on my app that my appointment is cancelled. I call to discover that it was cancelled because whomever set up the appointment did not note that this was to establish care with this provider. With all of that they cant even get me in to "establish care" until sometime next year. Just a bit of advice for anyone wanting to use their services and how they treat a loyal patient that has been seeing them for over 25 years.

In congress with an NPRN Robin Campbell, Sam, and Dr. Michael Bahl made the decision to force my husband to stop a dangerous drug cold-turkey. I know their vaccine policy, but due to religious beliefs, there is one vaccine I refuse to give to my children. I came to the vaccine appointment after speaking with the front desk about it and they said to talk to Dr. Fletcher about it at my appointment because it's not that big of a deal. I went in and upfront said I understand their vaccine policy at the office and understand if we can no longer be patients, but there is only one vaccine I cannot give due to religious grounds. Instead of professionally explaining to me their policy and letting me know they can no longer serve my family, Dr. Fletcher completely berated and belittled me about how she was a better advocate for my children than I am and that I must be okay with dead children. After this I tried to calmly explain my beliefs were religious and again understand if they can no longer serve my family and she continued to disrespect me and tell me how unethical my religious beliefs were. All of this in front of both of my children. I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism and audacity to spit on my religious beliefs when a simple "we can no longer serve you" would have sufficed. We immediately left the office and called to make a new appointment with a new pediatrician so the certified official letter they sent the next day ejecting my children from their practice really wasn't needed.

They WILL NOT provide an itemized receipt for self pay clients; you have to sign an statement agreeing to that. If you are part of a cost-sharing plan, they will not help you in any way. I guess they won't make enough profit if they print out a 2-pg itemized statement rather than a 1-pg general receipt. The dollar is king and the client is a nuisance.

The ER department from Receptionist to Triage to SOME Nurses, are sub-par. When I finally did get to the ER portion, after basically forcing it, I was treated rudely and rough by the Nurse. The Dr. did do some tests and such but when my blood Ox obviously went to 80% the wrong assessment was, no worries, you're ok. No I wasn't, my airway was so blocked I could not get a full breath to feel safe. No help. Horrible assessments and horrible nurse. The intake was more concerned with her conversations with co-workers. The triage clearly wanted to get to her clock out time and didn't push me through for help.

I arrived at 12:10 a.m. and was not taken to a room until 3:30 a.m. I understand ERs triage by acuity, so the wait alone is not my primary complaint. My concern is what happened once I was roomed. The treatment room was visibly dirty--full trash and dirty-linen receptacles, debris/hair on the floor, and a dirty pillow underneath the bed. I reported it to the nurse and was told it would be addressed. I also took photos documenting the conditions. Dr. Cox was the bright spot of the experience. He was caring, compassionate, and took my concerns seriously. Unfortunately, after he ordered my workup, there were significant delays. Radiology came twice to perform my CT but couldn't proceed because the required IV had not been placed. Despite multiple calls for assistance, my IV wasn't established until more than an hour after Dr. Cox evaluated me. After the shift change, my experience with Dr. Burley was completely different. I found his bedside manner dismissive, accusatory, and lacking compassion. I felt rushed out rather than treated like a patient whose concerns mattered. Between the dirty room, poor responsiveness, delays in ordered care, and dismissive discharge experience, I was extremely disappointed. I appreciate Dr. Cox's professionalism, but based on my overall experience, I would not return to Saint Luke's East for emergency care.
