My wife had recently discovered this place while out with a friend, and was insistent I try it. We ordered a lamb shank and a side of large garlic toum/aioli. The lamb shank on rice was roughly $16.99, and the side of large garlic toum/aioli was roughly $7. The place had a few tables, though it was very empty and we had already decided to take the food to go. We shared this and it was more than enough for the two of us. The gentleman working there was also very friendly. Lamb is generally fatty, which is why it needs to be had with something like rice to absorb the flavor. This is what makes this dish just perfect. This is an underrated Arabic dish, not spicy but flavorful, and something many locals would love if they just gave it the opportunity. Either way, I would definitely visit again if in the mood for this particular dish.

Update 3/8/2020 Khaleel, you are an immigrant success story, MA. Buffalo is luck to have you! Your restaurant is growing and thriving. My family enjoys all your dishes - we've tried them all! My daughter only likes eating your rice. She will not eat rice that I cook! Consistently cooked to perfection grilled meats- shawarma, shish and chicken kabobs and lamb chops. Wraps and appetizers all delicious too. Still great prices and huge portions. For $40 we fed 3 adults last night and still had some left over. We are loyal fans! Thank you for serving us fantastic Middle Eastern cuisine. garlic sauce if you like to add to your food. Those 2 Combos are especially delicious and the servings are very decent- I order only 1 and can share it with my daughter... for $10.99 it's a steal. It's home cooking, healthy and oh so satisfying. "Mothers little helper" ... saves me from cooking and my child really enjoys this dinner too. so we usually pick up dinner on a night we are on the go, coming home late from her piano lesson or dance class. Mother needs another type of helper by the weekend but is not found here ... save that for another time LOL I have tried their chicken and beef shawarma sandwiches and even the falafel sandwich-all really tasty. Those might be better for lunch, smaller portion. So please support this family run business and enjoy a delicious meal ... win win for all.

I adore this place! Amazing I really mean amazing food! These guys know how to make food! It is so excellent I am just thankful that I found one of the best foods in Buffalo!

We ordered takeout from Shawarma City again last week, and I immediately wanted to write an updated review. But I was too busy stuffing my face with all that delicious food! Shawarma City is our fam's favorite shawarma joint in the 716. All of the food we have ordered from here has been excellent--absolutely BURSTING with so much authentic FLAVOR! Our recent order included a beef shawarma platter, a falafel platter, a chicken shawarma wrap combo with rice, and a kids chicken tenders meal. We ordered on DoorDash for pick-up. Shawarma City is in a small strip-mall'esque corner plaza with easy off-street parking. Our order was ready on time, with all of our dishes HOT and HUGE! I had the wrap, and it was BIG. Half of the wrap and half of the generous rice portion was perfectly filling. The chicken was juicy and spiced just right--I LOVE that warm, cinnamon'y slightly-sweet-and-smoky flavor! Our vegan daughter loved her falafel platter, which was a takeout box STUFFED with I think eight falafel done right--crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The hubbs beef shawarma platter was big, juicy, and oh so savory too. The hubbs is a man who rarely has leftovers, but with this big delicious box of food he met his leftovers-match. We all had leftovers for the next day. Our son is typically not an adventurous eater, so it's great that Shawarma City has a chicken tenders kids meal for the picky little ones. But it's not just a throw-away kids meal, the chicken is actually very crisp and tasty! On top of all of the food here being wonderful, the prices are very fair too, especially considering the size of the chow you receive. My wrap combo was under ten bucks. Platters are just over ten bucks. Kids meals are just five bucks. Very reasonable pricing all around. When we have another hankering for delicious shawarma food, Shawarma City will definitely be our pick again!

What a great food and service. I have ordered the food online through Doordash and it was a very convenient and easy way to get your food! The people at the restaurant are the sweetest and very friendly. The moment I walked in they had my food ready and it was warm! I ordered mixed chicken and beef Shawarma and it was great!!! It was a bit greasy which is fine and that is the nature of Shawarma. Chicken and beef were tasty and were cooked to perfection. I customized it to have half French fries half rice, it was a lot of food !! Portion of the meal was awesome too so you don't have to stop your joy too soon!! Baba ganoush was garlicky and creamy! So gooood !! It was Great experience and I will definitely go back soon .

The place is clean. I got the chicken kabob wrap, and it was delicious. Good prices, a lot of orders went in at the same time and they made it happen quickly, great service!

This food operation seems chaotic... Times are tough so I am giving two stars but quality of food and pick up experience was pretty bad. You should not be doing online orders because per the employee's words "online order system messes up orders". So apparently that's why I had to wait an hour and apparently that's why somebody had to ask us four times what our order is and still get it wrong. More effort should be put into making the food better because there is no seasoning! The hummus, the falafel, the rice, the "shawarma" all was pretty bland. Surprisingly the only thing with seasoning was the salad. That was pretty good. The "beef shawarma" was offensive. It had the texture of gyro meat. Not crispy bits like a normal beef shawarma. And barely had any seasoning/taste. The portion is significant though. The counter orders are given priority (15 mins from what I heard while waiting inside) while I had to wait for quite a long time for my online order (about an hour), even though a notification is sent out that it's ready about 20-30 mins before they even think about getting it ready. So you are just kept waiting and waiting and waiting in a cramped area. So bottom line, do not send online orders!

Ordered takeout tonight, which was easy and quick (they had it ready in 15 minutes). We got two orders of the mixed shawarma which was just as good as I remembered it! Basically it's grilled chicken and steak on a ton of rice, garnished with onions, tomatoes, and pickles. It comes with a side of hot sauce and shawarma sauce and is out of this world! A big portion size too. I definitely look forward to come back here!

I have been meaning to stop here and finally did tonight. Decided to grab a chicken kabob combo meal with rice. The combo meal also comes with a drink. My entire meal was under $10.00. I came in and was greeted by friendly counter staff who quickly took my order. He told me it would be a few minutes so I had a seat and checked some emails. What I was impressed with was the freshness! Everything waS being cooked to order! There were several folks in and out while I was waiting (which is generally a good sign when coupled with stellar yelp reviews). My food was excellent. I highly recommend asking for extra white sauce-I don't entirely know what it is, but it was tasty. The wrap also came with a hot sauce on the side that was to much for me. Both sauces come on the side. My rice was a huge portion, well seasoned, and perfect temperature. One thing I would do differently would be to order ahead. Other than that, I am a huge fan! Friendly service, great food, and fair prices!

This has been our go to take out Mediterranean cuisine restaurant since years! Possibly the best Mediterranean food around the area. The kitchen looks pretty clean but the small dine in area is really shabby and that's why most people prefer take aways from here. It is self service but the guys cooking and at the billing counter are just so sweet and friendly. We've tried: Chicken shawarma sandwich- Loved the Shawarma which is like a wrap but with pita bread and stuffed with veggies, loads of chicken and their sauces. Chicken shawarma combo- This is my regular order here. Absolutely love the combo which is huge in quantity. The yellow rice which is flavored is topped with a heap of grilled shredded chicken and their white garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is a masterpiece and just makes the whole dish a winner! Would have given it a 5 star if the dining area was cleaner.

I've been here a couple of times and have always loved their chicken shawarma wrap, but I just had one the other night and was really disappointed. The chicken was dry and tasteless even with the sauces that it came with. My fiancé got the combo platter which was pretty good but his chicken was also very dry. Not sure if they just had a bad night, but I probably will be out on the look out for another shawarma place from now on.

They served me cold kebab! I was like, come on guys. You shawarma-it up. So they did. OK, that was a lie. But I've now been here 4 times. The first time, they didn't have the kebab I wanted (Kofte) because it was evening, so I got a shawarma wrap instead. It was just okay. The second and third time, they didn't have the Kebab I wanted (Kofte), so I didn't get anything. Finally, the fourth time, they had the kebab I wanted (Kofte... lol), so I got one, and my friend got a small Hummus as well. The Hummus was so damn good that we also got a Babaghanoush, and below is my review of each item. Here are all the elements of the business reviewed in order from best to worst. Hummus - probably the best hummus in town, just behind Rachel's (which is occasionally inconsistent). It's the freshest, smoothest, creamiest, dreamiest hummus in town, for sure. It tastes cloudy and heavenly and nice and oily. Rachel's has a better flavour and a more garlicky taste, but it's inconvenient and sometimes not as fresh. If I gave this place a 5 star (and I almost did) it would be just for the hummus. Hummust have been love. But it's over now. From the moment I tasted it. To the time I ran out. Julia Roberts as a street hooker in LA? I mean, come on. Bad casting, people. Bad casting. Customer Service - they're friendly and nice, and I hate to not give them 5 stars because I totally support their business, but their food isn't my fave, and they really should have the main kebabs available in the evening as well as earlier. 4/5. Shawarma Wrap - I'm not going to mention the bread, that's all the way down there. But the Shawarma itself was decent, that's about the best compliment I can give it. It wasn't too flavourful, it wasn't horribly dry but it wasn't as wet as I like either, and it came with tahini inside instead of their amazing hummus, which could have really helped it. This wrap would score a 3 and I certainly wouldn't order it again, it's very typical Lebanese actually, and I'm not into their shawarma wraps in general (I prefer kebabs stuffed in fluffy pitas). My dining companion thought it was excellent, but she isn't hard to please. So to speak. Ahem. 3/5 Kofte Kebab Wrap - no, not really. It tasted like flavourless burger meat inside a wrap, and wasn't too juicy. It had a little garlic sauce in it which I asked for but you really couldn't taste the garlic. It was okay, at best. Surely it must be an Americanized kebab because you couldn't sell something lacking in spices to this degree in the Middle East. The bread? I'll review it separately. 2/5. Babaghanoush - avoid. It was solidified due to being in the fridge and/or being old. It had a vinegary taste that suggested it was either old, or poorly made. I had to mash it all up with my spoon just to turn it into a spread consistency, and it took awhile because it was solidified. It turned my stomach a bit. Once it was turned into paste, it was actually fairly enjoyable, but (a) that's only because I love baba anyway, and (b) the bread tips it over the edge... 2/5. Bread - the wrap bread tastes dry, chalky and stale to me. Based on the bread alone they'd get a 1/5. I think they could do a much better job with what they wrap their stuff in. Unfortunately this is also the bread that you get with hummus or baba. 1/5. True to my usual standards, I'd like to give this place a 5/5 just for having some of the best and creamiest and freshest hummus in town, but when I look at how disappointing everything else was, it's too difficult to do it, so I'm giving it a 4 (which for me is a mediocre rating. I only give 3 - bad, 4 - ok, or 5 - great - to family businesses. Never 1 or 2). Also, if it had been destroyed in all the other reviews I'd focus on the hummus and give it a 5, but I find it to be very overrated by the other reviewers, so I'll stick with 4. Nevertheless, please give this adorable little family business a try (especially the Hummus), and see what you think. You may love it. And whatever you do, get hummus with your order. And when my brother doesn't know the lyrics to one of my songs, he just hummus it.

Had the combo shawarma sandwich with fries. It was delicious. The fries were great too, crispy but not over cooked.

The manti stood out more for its comfort than complexity, tender dumplings, yogurt, and a clean garlic-forward profile that felt authentic, even if slightly muted on spice. The ribeye steak medallions were cooked accurately and had good texture, but they were less memorable compared to the rest of the menu. In contrast, the mixed grill platter was the strongest showing of the night, offering variety and consistent execution across different meats, which is not easy to do well. Everything was flavorful without feeling overworked. The mixed meat pide was satisfying and hearty, though on the richer side. It's filling and best approached as a shared dish rather than an add-on. Turkish tea was straightforward and comforting, doing exactly what it should after a heavy meal. Overall, Sofra delivers a traditional, well-executed Turkish dinner with generous portions and a focus on consistency rather than reinvention. Best enjoyed family-style, pacing the meal thoughtfully to fully appreciate the depth of the menu without fatigue.
