I ordered the souvlaki expecting authentic Greek/Mediterranean flavors, but this was nothing close. It was basically just a pile of cheese and lettuce with barely any seasoning. There was no tzatziki sauce, no real Greek flavors, and honestly nothing about it felt authentic at all. If this is their version of Greek food, it's really disappointing and pretty sad and it's completely over priced for what it is total Malakai. read more

Hidden Gem....I usually get the salads or stir fry's. Never disappointed! Small facility but great staff, some would say a hole in the wall. But I say it had character and great vibes !!! Not a sit down spot, only issue. Oh and the hours!! read more

Baba black sheep, have you any Souvlaki? Well I'll take a pass on it. I'm going to be brief. They recognized me from Yelp, which makes me feel bad about writing such a bad review. But I was going off Amanda's review, she seems cool and I've agreed with her on other stuff. So I thought, maybe I gave Baba's an unfair shake. I'm obsessed with Souvlaki so I went back and ordered one. The salad wasn't fresh, some of the lettuce was already well into turning brown. There was masses of bland-tasting feta on it (I asked for the cheese on the side). The dressing wasn't too bad, honestly. The worst part though is the "amazing chicken that doesn't even need the Greek oil." It basically tasted like grilled chicken on a salad from a Tops or a Wegmans. It was completely dry and had what seemed like literally zero seasoning. I'm not saying there's any false reviewing going on, but I found basically the opposite of that review to be the case. And whereby I might have been more gentle had I found out how much I didn't like this chicken by myself, I am more cynical and critical because I feel slightly, perhaps unintentionally, misled, and because I wasted $10 based on a review which I found to not be the case. read more

I just realized that out of all the times Ive come to Babas restaurant, I have never written a review. This little oversight ends today. I have read some of the reviews and I must say, I disagree with the negative ones. I understand that this place is a hole in the wall, but by no means should you hesitate to order from here. It is takeout only,this is not a sit-down restaurant. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being prepared. Food is always fresh and great tasting especially the chicken souvlaki. They literally have the best chicken souvlaki I have ever tasted. I also enjoy the chicken and rice, the seasonings is just right and you get a large amount of food. The people that work here are great, they greet everyone and actually take the time to speak to their customers. Tip: Don't knock it till you've tried it! read more

I've never eaten from this restaurant before, so when my husband suggested pickin up lunch from here I said why not , so I did think it was good as far as flavor went but it was waaaaayyyyyyy to heavy on the onions and peppers for me , it had plenty of shrimp in it over a large portion of rice . read more

I've been going to Babas for years and I have always received great customer service and food. When you first walk in everyone speaks to you (unless they are super busy, which is understandable) but for the most part everyone acknowledges you. I've tried several things but my favorite is the chicken and rice with onions, peppers, tomatoes and feta cheese. I've also had the chicken souvlaki, the chicken stir fry and a few of the oven melts and I've never been disappointed. 9.28.2018 I ordered some thing different from Babas. In all my years I always would order the same thing. On this day I had a chicken Souvlaki Sub and it was GREAT! From the menu it is a new item and I must say they nailed it, ITS A MUST TRY. The sub comes with all of the fixings that's on a chicken Souvlaki salad but placed on a nice fresh sub roll. My friends ordered a gyro sub that I didn't taste but he said that it was really good and he should've ordered 2 full subs vs 1 full sub. I did get to taste the chicken hoagie and I must say I was completely thrown. From the looks of it it seems to be dry but that isn't the case AT ALL, it was juicy and full of great flavor. I went my my sister in laws' birthday party last night and they had this dish there to eat. It was sooooo good! Rice cooked perfectly, chicken seasoned to perfection, peppers and onions sautéed with bold flavors and all mixed together for an excellent dish. Went so well with my henny mixed drink! Highly recommend trying this place out and will be added to my list of places to dine with!! read more

I went to Babas for the first time last week, not really knowing what to expect as I haven't really heard much about it. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the gyro, which is usually my go to at Mediterranean restaurants. Overall it was really lacking. The pita tasted really chewy (I didn't know pitas could be chewy?), the meat inside tasted like it was straight out of a frozen dinner, and the lettuce was limp and not very good. Maybe I will order again if my co-workers order delivery, otherwise I will steer clear! read more

I'm really shocked this place doesn't get more attention! For $10 you can get a takeout container chock full of perfectly cooked rice, grilled chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and the best Greek dressing you've ever tasted. It's such a wonderful medley of flavors between the light and fluffy rice and the onions. The chicken is cooked perfectly and the dressing is to die for. They throw a fresh pita on top before closing the lid, and the food below perfectly heats the pita so that it can be torn into bite size pieces or folded full. A bit of a hole in the wall on Bailey Ave, it's surprisingly good comfort food. read more

Awesome food. You can order Mediterranean or anything else and you will be not just satisfied but impressed AND full. Portion sizes are huge and prices are reasonable. The owner is usually singing when you get there but not very well. In fact he is terrible but that's the worse thing you can say about the place. I have been ordering food for many years from Babas. It has been served in a work capacity to surgeons, residents, visitors from top Universities and many more. I have also had many private events catered, baptisms, golfing outings. There has never been anything less than praise for the food at these activities. As a matter of fact, people ask for the name and contact information of the business owner for their next event. As there were two not so complimentary remarks I guess I would say that anyone can have a bad experience even at the most posh of places but I personally have never had that happen with Babas. We have tried the majority of items on their menu. So if by chance you experienced something you did not like, my suggestion would be to give it another try, I am sure you will not be disappointed. Better yet, the owners (both) are wonderful people and I know that because I often present them with challenging orders due to vegetarians, vegans, and kosher orders along with regular orders and they are always accommodating. I sometimes think I take advantage of their helpful nature. I would also say if something does not meet your expectations, let them know, if you never state your dislike how is someone going to look into solving the problem. read more
