If you're looking for a quick fix shawarma this place will do the trick. That said, I wasn't hit with an overabundance of flavor, everything (except for the garlic) had a plain taste. (My wife has mentioned five times now that "there wasn't any eggplant") We both got bowls, the rice wasn't what we expected, basically was yellow rice (not being the rice expert, that's what it tasted like). We opened the place up at 1100, starving on Father's Day this was our second option as "First Watch" was packed and we weren't waiting an hour to eat. I wasn't thrilled that the food was luke-warm, which tells me it was most likely re-heated from the previous day. In summation, there are better options in Tidewater but if you're in Chesapeake, perhaps shopping at Sam's Club, this place will satisfy the hunger monster. read more

I've had this restaurant on my radar since they first opened. I'm so glad I was able to come today. I walked in and immediately I was welcomed. I asked for more time since I'm a newbie and he started explaining the menu to me. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl with rice. I added tomatoes, pickled onions, lettuce, turkish salad, parsley, feta, tzatziki, garlic sauce, and pickled red cabbage. I also ordered a skewer of steak shawarma for my son. I also ordered an order of chocolate baklava and one of their special drinks Hot Salgam. It's a spicy fermented carrot and turnip drink. I ordered all this to go so it wasn't for another 20 minutes or so til I was able to have my first taste in the comfort of my couch. OMG. Amazing! The chicken was very flavorful. We (my family and I) have eaten here several times! There is a reason we keep coming back. The quality and freshness of the food has been consistently fantastic. I am a fan of the bowls. They recently expanded their menu and added kabobs and pizza and other items. So today instead of getting my bowl, I got the chicken kabobs. I am glad I did!! They are tender and flavorful and delicious. The presentation was beautiful. I wish I had taken a pic at the restaurant but mothers day no phones at the table rule . The pic is of the leftovers . This is a new Shawarma place that just opened in Chesapeake! Walked in and the staff was really nice and helpful. They gave us lots of info on how they make the authentic lamb, beef, and chicken. I ordered the chicken shawarma, beef pita, falafel, and baklava. The food was not flavorful, it was plain. There was no wow factor. I've had amazing Shawarma before, and this just wasn't giving that ' yum' factor. The best part of the meal was the baklava squares. The inside was clean, there are a tables to sit and eat. I would give this place a 4. It's worth trying, but I've had better Shawarma in Hampton Roads. You'll be satisfied with the flavors and textures of what you order, but you're not going to be blown away. Check it out if you live near by. I wouldn't say with worth traveling for though. I mean see your reflection in the floor spotless. You are able to see the kitchen from the front of the restaurant and it was also VERY clean. Not a utensil out of place. I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma bowl and a side of falafel. You can choose your base of a side of rice or mixed greens for the bowls and the wraps. I chose mixed greens and it was the perfect accompaniment for the toppings which are full of flavor. I had hummus, some hot sauce (Turkish style), chopped tomatoes and onions, tzatziki sauce and feta cheese for my toppings. I got a wrap and some baklava from Schwarma Shack yesterday. I've eaten here multiple times now and have to say it's the best in the area. Everything tastes super fresh and has tons of flavor. The owner and his sons are from Turkey and are super nice. I've tried the wrap and pita before but the wrap is super beefy and makes a great snack for later if you don't eat the whole thing. $16 for the wrap is fair considering how much food is given plus the quality. So I was here 7/31/2024and ordered the chicken kabob platter and a filet mignon platter. The sides were cacik, baba ganoush and Turkish salad. All I can say was the food is delicious. So tasty and full of flavor. The filet mignon kabobs were tender and juicy. Chicken kabob was not dry but tasty. So for $13, you're getting a fairly small pita.
