Nope. Sorry guys but this is not what shawarma's are supposed to be. My wife and I had high hopes going in there the first time but sadly it isn't what it says it is. We have been all over the Middle East and Mediterranean eating shawarma's for decades, in restaurants and street side vendors. Recently tried this place and was pleasantly surprised. The Adani (Lamb) and Lamb Shish was so tender and flavorful! The Babaganoush and Mutebbel were great as well. Everything is freshly made and presented well. The portions are VERY generous, so bring your appetite! Staff is super friendly and eager to see and serve their customers. I've had this restaurant on my radar since they first opened. I'm so glad I was able to come today. I walked in and immediately I was welcomed. I asked for more time since I'm a newbie and he started explaining the menu to me. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl with rice. I added tomatoes, pickled onions, lettuce, turkish salad, parsley, feta, tzatziki, garlic sauce, and pickled red cabbage. I also ordered a skewer of steak shawarma for my son. I also ordered an order of chocolate baklava and one of their special drinks Hot Salgam. It's a spicy fermented carrot and turnip drink. I ordered all this to go so it wasn't for another 20 minutes or so til I was able to have my first taste in the comfort of my couch. OMG. Amazing! The chicken was very flavorful. The rice was perfectly cooked and melded well with the toppings and sauces. I can't wait to come back and try their skewer platters with sides. Great job Shawarma Shack! We (my family and I) have eaten here several times! There is a reason we keep coming back. The quality and freshness of the food has been consistently fantastic. I am a fan of the bowls. They recently expanded their menu and added kabobs and pizza and other items. So today instead of getting my bowl, I got the chicken kabobs. I am glad I did!! They are tender and flavorful and delicious. The presentation was beautiful. I wish I had taken a pic at the restaurant but mothers day no phones at the table rule . The pic is of the leftovers . Huge portion! My middle son also tried the chicken Donner wrap instead of a bowl. He said it was amazing and also full of flavor. We always have leftovers you are full but you don't feel heavy. This is a new Shawarma place that just opened in Chesapeake! Walked in and the staff was really nice and helpful. They gave us lots of info on how they make the authentic lamb, beef, and chicken. I ordered the chicken shawarma, beef pita, falafel, and baklava. The food was not flavorful, it was plain. There was no wow factor. I've had amazing Shawarma before, and this just wasn't giving that ' yum' factor. The best part of the meal was the baklava squares. The inside was clean, there are a tables to sit and eat. The vibe is more of a takeout then sit and eat. Parking is plentiful. I want to give this place another chance due to the nice staff and the fact that it's brand new. read more

I would give this place a 4. It's worth trying, but I've had better Shawarma in Hampton Roads. You'll be satisfied with the flavors and textures of what you order, but you're not going to be blown away. Check it out if you live near by. I wouldn't say with worth traveling for though. The amazing smell coming from Shawarma Shack brought us inside for lunch. I have never been greeted with such enthusiasm and kindness. Upon first inspection the place is spotless. I mean see your reflection in the floor spotless. You are able to see the kitchen from the front of the restaurant and it was also VERY clean. Not a utensil out of place. I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma bowl and a side of falafel. You can choose your base of a side of rice or mixed greens for the bowls and the wraps. I chose mixed greens and it was the perfect accompaniment for the toppings which are full of flavor. I had hummus, some hot sauce (Turkish style), chopped tomatoes and onions, tzatziki sauce and feta cheese for my toppings. Paired with the freshly roasted meat and a special Turkish orange soda I was in heaven. Go for the food, stay for the hospitality. There is ample parking here. You won't be sorry. I got a wrap and some baklava from Schwarma Shack yesterday. I've eaten here multiple times now and have to say it's the best in the area. Everything tastes super fresh and has tons of flavor. The owner and his sons are from Turkey and are super nice. I've tried the wrap and pita before but the wrap is super beefy and makes a great snack for later if you don't eat the whole thing. $16 for the wrap is fair considering how much food is given plus the quality. The baklava was delicious! (A little pricey for two pieces, but I'd still recommend it). So I was here 7/31/2024and ordered the chicken kabob platter and a filet mignon platter. The sides were cacik, baba ganoush and Turkish salad. All I can say was the food is delicious. So tasty and full of flavor. The filet mignon kabobs were tender and juicy. Chicken kabob was not dry but tasty. Service was slow as they cook it after you order but hey, if you want it done right, perfection takes time. Nothing fancy about the place though don't let looks deceive you. My only qualm is that for $13 you don't get enough meat. You have to double the meat (which is an extra $3 for lamb) and that doesn't include any sides. So for $13, you're getting a fairly small pita. Wow....American kid, now old, who grew up in Turkey and a few other Middle Eastern Countries. Dream of vertical spits almost daily since the middle 70's. This place had me in tears. Hands down the best Schwarma and Doner I've had in the United States. The bread is divine. Portions are huge. There is an unmistakable careful selection of fresh veggies and an equally superb rice. Even the red onions had some sumac sprinkled on, and that's just another small touch that reminded me of my spiritual home. Downing an orange Uludag soda summoned a wave of nostalgia.
