Lamb and chicken over rice with salad
    Kristyles S.

Pretty good food, fast and convenient. I recommend trying if you're in the area. I got the S3 lamb and chicken over rice with salad. It was very good. Made fresh and served hot to go. Make sure you order some extra sauce on the side and if needed sauce for the salad, it comes plain no complaints on the food except maybe the rice could've been seasoned a little bit more . I added a little bit of my own seasoning once I got home.

Saw this driving by and scoped it out. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered the Chapli, and it was delicious. I also took note that they make Turshi (Afghan pickled veggies). I look forward to returning.

Great authentic flavors, it's a must try restaurant. Their kabobs and mantu "dumpling" are amazing.

Menu for the Beach Kabob House.

By far the BEST lamb dish I have ever had. The leg of lamb was tasty and cooked perfectly. And came with rice with raisins and carrots. It's a fresh meal that is not processed or heavily salted. I could eat this once a week. I have traveled all over the Middle East and this is by far the best right here in my own neighborhood. This delightful place takes me back twenty years! It's called Qabuli Palau.

amazing place. great portions. reasonable prices and the food is fantastic. highly recommend! about time VB got a decent kabob place! don't miss out !

The chicken over rice + white/garlic sauce changed my life. Maybe the greatest thing I have eaten in years.

5 STARS -- A Standout Mediterranean Street Food Gem in Virginia Beach…read more My experiences with Mr. Sharma go back to their original Norfolk location, where I first met their personable owner, Avi and partner Tal. Both are incredibly skilled at what they do. Their passion for Mediterranean street food shows in every detail of the operation. I've now visited the new Beach location on Laskin Road several times, and each visit reinforces just how impressive this business is. Last year, Avi even gave me a tour of the back of the house. It's state-of-the-art--spotless stainless steel everywhere, top-tier equipment, and a layout that shows real thought and pride in the craft. Parking when busy can offer challenges, but I had no issue. They offer a clean dining room to enjoy your food inside, or on a nice day alfresco on their patio. Customers self bus their tables. On my most recent visit, I ordered Avi's favorite dish, the chicken shawarma in a pita pocket. Outstanding--easily one of the best versions I've had that's loaded with humus, slaw, fries and their in-house sauces. I also met the general manager, Melissa, who was warm, friendly, and clearly invested in maintaining the high standards of freshness that make this place shine. She mentioned that Avi is back in Israel but still travels often, which tracks with the care and consistency the team maintains. I also had samples of their amazing falafel and egg plant which is like candy...yum! The Virginia Beach restaurant itself is clean, bright, and incredibly well put-together. A detail most people will miss, but shouldn't--is the noise-reducing ceiling panels. It's the kind of thoughtful touch that tells you the owners think about every part of the customer experience. Mr. Sharma is one of the most overlooked fast-casual restaurants in Virginia Beach, and frankly, it shouldn't be. This is a long overdue review and it's an easy five stars from me. If you haven't visited their new Laskin Road location yet, you're missing out. Mr. Shawarma holds a special place in my heart and cannot recommend enough.

Unfortunately, the shawarmas were extremely disappointing. What was served did not resemble shawarma at all. Each plate seemed to consist of a large amount of lettuce, only a few small pieces of chicken, and a few grilled tomato halves. None of the 10 people in our group--including the children--enjoyed it. Everyone was surprised that this dish was being called shawarma. I also ordered an iced tea, but what I received tasted more like lemonade and did not seem to be iced tea at all. To make matters worse, our bill came to $626. Based on the quality and quantity of the food we received, I believe the meal was worth no more than $200. Another concern was that alcohol was being served on the premises, which may be important information for customers looking specifically for halal dining options. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. While the lamb chops were excellent, the rest of the meal and the value for the price fell far below expectations. I would not return or recommend this restaurant based on this visit.

The food was ready in about 8 minutes and the gentlemen brought it out to my car, which was very nice. I liked the chicken gyro. It was different textures because of the toppings with a good taste and crunch. The chicken tawook was also good. I liked the beef as well, it was tender and the sauce on it was good. The hummas and tzatziki sauce tasted good also. It made the gyros better. I like that the gyros are rolled kinda long and thin so its easy to eat without everything spilling out. You could easily eat it and drive. The rice was cooked just right. It had no flavor at all, but it was somehow still good... I'd return to try other things. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

I ended up on the combo of their soup and salad since their soup also sounded good. I was hesitant on the strawberries in the wine country salad since I know they're not in season really, but they were lovely. Everything in the salad worked well together and the dressing was nice and vinegary while still tasting of raspberries. It was very well balanced except for the ratio of toppings to greens. I feel as though there was just a little too much toppings. It could've used more leafs. As for the soup, it was a little bland, but after adding salt and pepper it tasted nice. It was mostly soup rather than crab or corn though. That was my only critique really, the temperature was good as well. It could've used some crackers on the side, but it wasn't necessary, just would've been a nice touch. Our waitress was quite nice, checked up on us and got us refills. All of our food came out together and hot. The sandwiches on other people's plates all looked wonderful, and after having a shoestring fry, I can definitely say next time I will be ordering some of those. As far as ambiance goes, it was nicely lit but still moody, which was appreciated. Very chill in there. Only reason I rate it 3 stars is because I feel as though there's room for improvement food wise, and price wise. $20+ for almost everything on the menu is pretty ridiculous. Even for some of the simple items. I don't think the food is that good, proportionately appropriate, or creative to be that much money. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel. I'll probably be back to try more items, I'd recommend coming here at least once to try if you haven't, during happy hour to get the best prices if you can.

Service is polite and fast, food is hot, well seasoned, and fresh, and the indoor and outdoor seating areas are clean. Food: We ate here 2/3 days of our weekend vacation in March. Between me and my boyfriend we got the Chicken Gyro Shawarma, Gyros, Coconut Shrimp Basket, Funnel Cake, and Fried fish baskets. I also ordered a virgin Piña colada. All of the portions were large, and nothing on the menu is over $15. No automatic gratuity. Its counter service, not table service. The lamb in the Gyros were well seasoned, very large, and adorned with Vegetables. The tzatziki is the perfect blend of spices and herbs, the lemon and garlic helping to lighten the heavy meats. The chicken was very juicy and also well seasoned. The coconut shrimp was not deveined so if that bothers you stay away. It was also a little salty which is fine, I just prefer sweet Coconut shrimp. It came with a warmed pre-made people in fktail sauce that was actually very delicious. The fried flounder pieces were a little small but overall flaky and juicy while crispy on the outside. Everything came with a heaping of piping fresh crinkle fries with season salt which were divine. The funnel cake was the perfect mix of crispy, fluffy, with that signature slight oily crunch towards the top. They give you a liberal sifting of powdered sugar with is PERFECT. The piña colada was the best one I had It was very creamy and decadent. They do offer alcoholic beverages and fountain sodas (coke products) in one size, but refills are free if you go up to the counter. They do also sell standard american grill food. Burgers, cheesesteaks, fried or grilled chicken sandwiches, and hotdogs. They also sell wings, jalapeno poppers, mozz sticks, salads (a chicken and greek for any vegetarians). They also have deserts for $9 with the choice of funnel cake or fried oreos. There are no kids meals, but they do offer 2pc corndogs, chicken nugget baskets, and chicken tender baskets for $10-$11. With the portions so large 2 bigger kids or 3 smaller kids could easily split one. Service: Service is fast, polite, and efficient. If you're wanting long smalltalk or pleasantries you won't find it, but I believe that only contributes to the efficiency. They run their restaurant like a well oiled machine. Even when there were 4 groups in front of me (one being a family of five), and only 4 employees, the wait was no longer than 10 minutes and my food was still hot and fresh. Atmosphere: We have gone in the afternoon and evening. Its definitely more busy in the evening, so it can be a little crowded and indoor seating sparse, but service and quality is not affected at all. Whatever old reviews were calling it dirty, it is anything but now. Both the inside and outside are kept very tidy. When it gets busy there may be a fry or two on the ground by the tables, but it is certainly not dirty. They have two large public restrooms 4 wheelchair accessible tables inside, and about 8 tables in a covered outdoor seating area (also wheelchair Accessible.) They also have AC and fans which feels wonderful on a hot day. If we come back to Virginia beach, we plan on just coming to this restaurant only. If you want consistent, reliable, affordable, delicious food, 21st street grill is the place for you.

We ordered mild wings with the fries and for some reason these fries were crispy while mine wasn't. I liked how they fry the wings to order so we know we weren't just getting stale wings that's been sitting in the fryer for a while.
