Mike Sobh seemed to give his best effort to every order at his restaurant, Tasty Kabob, which serves up authentic Lebanese cuisine at 8207 Middlebelt, south of Joy, in Westland. He came from Lebanon in 1987 brought the authentic food from the homeland. We had a fantastic first experience, so friendly Sonia and I met Mike Jr . Started with delicious bowl of Lentils and outstanding. She Loves Fried Kibbeh with Tahini Sauce for dipping, some of the very best ever Eaten WOWED . I had a fabulous Sujuk Pita Sandwich, it's double the size as most places. She had 2 mega logs of Lamb Kafta OMG perfection a must try . Sonia brought a sample of Baba Gnoush a real winner made fresh. I had a small Spicy Hummus a fabulous treat . Once seated a bowl of Toum be Garlic Sauce with bread delivered to the table. They have a large following of customers, we're happy to say a five star experience. Looking forward to another trip next year. I am squeezing out a three rating by the hair of my chinny chin chin. Prices are reasonable with good sized portions. We ordered an assorted platter and it was dull in comparison to the plethora of choices with the same cuisine in the area. The meat was a bit dry and over spiced with (allspice?). It was hard to taste the meat itself. The chicken was a bit charred and dry. The accompanying dishes were fine but nothing to write home about, except on Yelp of course.

    Shwarma Combo is yummy!

Great place for Middle Eastern food. Big fan of the Shwarma Combo. Portion sizes are great and the staff are very friendly. Have never had a complaint in the approx. 10 years I've been going here. Give them a try!

This is how Shawarma meat should be cooked including chicken !

I ordered a chicken shawarma platter and I got grilled chicken ! That's not a true chicken shawarma, shawarma meat - lamb, beef,or chicken is cooked on the rotating wheel... Shawarma - is meat that is cut thinly into slices and stacked in a cone like shape turning slowly on a vertical rotisserie or spit. Well that's not what I got! I will not be going there again ! I am half Palestinian I know how it's cooked ! I called and they tried to tell me that only lamb is cooked on the wheel well they wrong, they woman told me she middle eastern and has been doing this for a long time .... WELL your wrong ! I even called a couple middle restaurants and they all said they cook the chicken the rotating wheel and that's how it's done in the middle eastern..

Door dashed it. Terrible. Could not eat the sandwich. Such a mess. Fattoush salad had no dressing. I guess they forgot. Never again.

Ordering takes place at the counter, so grab a menu there, make your choices and pay. You'll receive a number to take back to your table. Food was brought out in the proper order - appetizers, mains, and dessert, all when appropriate. The food was WONDERFUL(!), so flavorful, freshly prepared, really delicious. We had two wraps, lentil soup, a Lebanese burger, grape leaves, kibbe, and baklava. I would note only that the wraps (pita or lavash) were fairly thin, so grab an app or a side if that's your choice for a main. Lavash wraps are larger than pitas. It's a shame that they don't offer a falafel lavash wrap, but there are lots of other choices on the extensive menu. The clientele included lots of Arabic families, a wonderful testament to the excellent authentic food offered at Sidon. We also stopped into their market and found it to be a bustling place - large, clean, brightly lit, with tons of options and so many freshly-prepared foods. Staff were efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Sidon is a great find!

Parking is tricky in this area of downtown so I parked further away and walked. The exterior of the restaurant is what draws your eye first - it's very welcoming. Once inside, you are surrounded by high ceilings, beautiful decor, and spacious seating. We were seated at a table next to the open wall-window so it felt like outside (they do have outside seating as well). Our server was highly knowledgeable about both the drink and food offerings. She made lots of suggestions and helped us to make our choices. For a drink, they made me a Mule - it didn't have as much ginger beer as a typical Mule but that was okay - it was very refreshing. We started with hummus as an appetizer for the table. They offer different toppings with it but we went with the basic that came with pita and a small side of tuom. They make fresh pita all night long so it was hot when it arrived. Their hummus is the most fluffy and creamy I've ever had. It was a taste delight! I chose the Shish Tawook for my entree. The chicken was grilled and smelled amazing! It came with a few vegetables, rice, and a small side of tuom. It was so good! Due to the freshness of all the food, I did not feel weighed down or listless after eating, which is a good sign of healthy prepared food. Now that I know of another great choice in Detroit, I'll be bringing family and friends to this place in the future. The ambience was warm and welcoming, service was top notch, and the food was amazing!

The only thing I didn't like was that they boxed my food for me, but she didn't pack my whole plate. She left out the pita that was on my dish. I also would have loved to take home the rest of our hummus appetizer, but she took it without asking if we wanted it. We asked our server for more pita and she brought it to us no problem. However, we were a group of three and she brought out three slices of pita all in one tinfoil pack... they also brought out all of our leftovers in one bag. It just felt odd that at a high end restaurant they didn't double check. I would rather box up my own food than have you waste the food I was eating. And my own bag is helpful if I need to bring home a random slice of pita because there isn't enough tinfoil to go around ...

Pretty friendly service from the lady working there was ok, and the burgers are good ( I had a cheese burger and a soda pop, my co-workers ordered a burger and a turkey clubhouse.) I do not recommend you order the clubhouse they use thick cuts of processed deli meat that is gelatinous and fairly gross in my opinion. The clubhouse was 10.99 and described turkey breast.... Deli meat is not turkey breast. And the prices are pretty high for the quality. $2 for a can of soda.... I ordered a cheeseburger which was $8.99 just for the burger and if I wanted a combo another $6 on top. That would have been almost $15 before tax and tip. This is why I ordered JUST the burger and a pop which came to approximately $12 ish with tax. I wish I had gotten a picture of the clubhouse to show how unappetizing it was. While they probably make a great Lebanese dish they seem to lack in the other dishes but then as a business owner, I would not want to serve them if I couldn't provide good quality.... Sorry just my logic. I left a review via google but the owner seems to only be interest in good reviews. Their reply was " we've never had anyone complain in 9 years about the clubhouse" People leave reviews so you can gain feedback and maybe grow and get better. By your reply it seems you're not interested in either. I wanted to return to try the Lebanese dishes but now am hesitant as why give money to a business that has no interest in trying to please all customers not just the ones that leave glowing reviews.
