I was fascinating by how quickly I was in and out of there. While doing my weekly grocery shop, my daughter texting me asking for a certain brand of hair products I have never heard of and I felt so welcomed by the friendly attitude from one of the employees that helped me find it. Also the cashiers and baggers were extremely quick with my order. I didn't order alcohol in my order but the person in front of me did and they weren't too happy with the new ID policy but its not like its up to you guys so keep up the good work. I called to speak with the online shopping to go department as I had a quick concern about my ground beef substitution weight. The weight I ordered was 3.5 lbs and the weight substituted was only 1 lbs. The woman who answered my transfered call who had a lower toned voice was very aggressive from the start and was very rough when answering me. I understood that once the order was shopped, she must follow the recommended substitution regardless of the weight discrepancy. That I have no issue with. I do however have a massive issue with her very aggressive, very rude tone. At the very start of the conversation after I said hello and explained the reason for my call, she already started to aggressively speak loudly and interrupt me. I then asked her politely if she could please speak kindly to me especially because I am not calling to argue or critique. I am a Fresh Pass customer calling to inquire. After I got off the brief call with her, I declined the substitution on the app then called back to speak with the manager on the floor. She happened to answer and I recognized her distincted voice immediately. I asked to be transfered to the manager on the floor and she said ok then put me on hold until the phone disconnected. I called again and spoke to another lady who i told her the reason for my call this time and explained to her how absolutely shocked I am at the service I received from the woman with the low toned voice in shop and go. I asked to speak with the manager. She told me that "Jess" the manager may be on a conference call and will call me back within the hour. I told her that because of the absolutely shocking rude and aggressive woman I spoke with, I am canceling my Fresh Pass and will also put this on the reviews online. This review is after covid! Shaws has changed their shoppers app. The new version is not user friendly,and people in store are talking,and they are not happy. Taking a lot of time out of your busy schedule to try and get sale prices,only to get to store and be charged regular price is extremely annoying. If you are truly angry you pack items up,trek back to store,wait in line at service desk only to be told you didn't clip coupon correctly. UGH!!! At this point in time you have wasted a lot of your precious time to save a few even more precious dollars. Is it worth it, probably not,depending on your budget. At this point,it is more valuable to Shaws than you. Shoppers please write or call Shaws and ask them to go back to old app ASAP ! read more

Went there to grab butter. They were working on the fridge and all the butter was "in the back" according to the worker. When asked if she could grab us some she said "no"... like no?? Its your job, tried to find a manager none could be found. This store needs to have a conversation with their staff about doing the basic tasks of a job. read more

There was one lane open for larger orders. We were second in line, should have been quick right? Not so because both the cashier and the person bagging stopped everything to have a very long drawn out conversation with the people in front of so they could count how many Shaws stores there are between Milford and South Nashua. Now we all know there are 5 and which exit to use to get there. Then they continued having conversations about weekend plans and getting together, but they couldn't remember if there was a manager there that I could ask to get the line moving and the ongoing chats to stop. About the only thing good about this store is that it is usually not busy. Why? Because the prices are ridiculously high compared to other supermarkets and this goes for all Shaw's stores. I only come here out of convenience but would rather go out of my way and fight the crowds at Market Basket which has far better prices. During the recent store grand reopening after they did some minor renovations, I came here twice for the advertised Milford store specific sales only to find the sale items completely sold out with nothing in stock both times! Waste of time and gas! The digital "Shaw's for U" coupons are an absolute frustration and require an online account or smartphone app to redeem. Very unfriendly to senior citizens and those who are not technologically inclined! Of course this is all for big brother purposes to track and analyze spending habits of customers! If it's a sale, just discount it at checkout. Don't require the customer jump through hoops and an app just to get the discount! Hopefully with the Albertsons corporate sale to Kroger, they can turn things around and lower the prices!! read more

Shaws Milford NH, weekly sales and website the worst! Love the sales,hate the aggravation of website Never working correctly,especially in store of all places. There is nothing I hate more than dealing with a faulty Website! Well actually there is,sale prices not written on sticker price,leaving you to think you have the wrong item,or the ad was a misprint? This happens frequently in this store. Only reason I shop this store is because it is less hectic experience than Market Basket. Prices are greatly inflated- I was overcharged for dog food - it was priced at 4 for $5 and they charged me double or $2.50 each instead of $1.25 each I told them they had doubled the price and the store manager couldn't even figure it without a calculator and the cashier couldn't either- I was told it had been a long day.... And it was only 2 pm and the store was practically empty- I replied why isn't the mistake ever in my favor???? People who need a calculator for such trivialities should not work at a cash register! read more

So here's the. Lowdown on Shaws in Milford, New Hampshire. If you belong to Shaw's "Rewards" there are often a few great buys in various departments so keep your eyes peeled on the weekly ads...and join Shaws Rewards. Unfortunately, they often run out of the "loss leaders" so you have to get there soon after the ads are published. Now, having said that, I often have to correct the cashier who's made mistakes, so keep your eye on the register as you checkout. Other than the Rewards prices, the prices generally are sky high...way more than Market Basket or Aldi, both of which are relatively close, in fact there are 3 Market basket stores within 10 minutes of Shaws. So I shop at Shaws in Milford...only when there are great deals advertised and otherwise it's Aldi and/or Market Basket read more

Steer clear of the Shaw's in Milford, NH -- it's pretty and it's big but it could be deadly. I recently had an incident where a customer refused to wear a mask. I talked with the Store Manager who refused to say anything to the customer, and said that Shaw's did not have a mandated mask policy because NH doesn't have one. I told her that I didn't believe her and would call Corporate -- which I did. Shaw's Corporate said that they DO have a mask mandate. I was later contacted by the Milford Shaw's Store manager -- and he clearly had an agenda -- kept saying that those people who don't wear masks have health conditions and I responded then they should use curb-side services. I hate to think how many employees and customers have been infected with Covid-19 because of Shaw's/Milford's lax policy. I actually think the public needs to know which companies are doing everything they possibly can to prevent the spread of this virus -- and those who aren't. Btw, Shaw's in Peterborough & Market Basket in Milford complies with "Safe Practices" including mandated masks. read more

This score is for the Milford NH location. They are great! I shop early and the seafood is always out and they are happy to get you what you want. Stay away from Merrimack NH DW location. They deserve zero stars. They are miserable in the seafood dept. I've been in there even after 9 am and they still don't have the seafood out! If they are putting it out and you ask for anything they look like they want to shoot you. Did this yesterday and didn't get fresh fish. I guess I paid for bothering him. I told him I appreciated him getting it for me and he gave me a dirty look. Wow. Have spoken to the manager in Merrimack. He just argued it's tough to get help. I get that but if you open your store be ready to help your customers or at least don't treat your customers like garbage. Went to corporate and they just want to give you a gift card. I just want okay service. Milford does a fabulous job! Merrimack does not! Not even close. No wonder no one goes there. read more

I use this grocery store quite frequently, but it's getting harder and harder to keep coming back. The 'everyday low prices' seem to be higher than their competitors and things I buy every week cost me more and more. The workers are friendly and recognize the regulars often. However, mgmt seemed to be slow footed to react when a couple brought in their little dog. It's not a service animal and as such, GET IT OUT. I hate seeing a person carry their dog around the store and then pawing through the meat packages (fantastic pun here! ). As if we need her dogs @$$ touching our food items. read more

This review concerns the ONLINE DELIVERY OPTION, NOT the store per se. I used the service only ONCE and never will again ! the GOOD: 1. All items that were delivered were fresh and in excellent condition. 2. Cold items were properly cold and frozen items were frozen . 3. Good selection of delivery times. the BAAAAAAAD: 1. Large number of items do not have a picture. 2. When items do not have pictures they also lack description. In most cases, that is OK, but it would aid in browsing. Also when you come across an interesting item but can not discern what it is, you won't buy it. Bad for the store. 3. Ok now to my REAL GRIPE !!!!!, this part reaaaaaaly stuck in my teeth. The price for getting my items. I just spent bunch of time filling my cart, (I'm mostly blind so it's a difficult chore for me), worth about $ 116. Now Shaws isn't cheap, so that's a minus as well. Than they want to charge almost $ 6 for delivery, ok, that's fair .... maybe BUT, they also charge a service fee of $ 5.89 which according to them is for : " This fee helps support the Instacart platform and covers a broad range of operating costs including insurance, background checks, and customer support." Hey Shaws ! that should be absorbed in your delivery charges ! Lastly, they also 'suggest' a tip for the driver of $ 5.89. Ok, I am all for tipping drivers BUT the cold cash truth is, the total cost of the groceries would have been $ 116 and the delivery + + + would have come to almost $ 18 ! The store is about 14 minutes drive from my house. As a comparison, when I used PeaPod (also a bit pricy), whose store is located about 80 minutes from me, they only charge about $ 5 for delivery if you buy $ 100 worth of items. SO, conclusion, USE WAL MART !! You will pay about 1/3d less in groceries. My Wal Mart does not deliver, but the online serivce gets it all ready for me and load it into the car. Also, Wal Mart Online Grocery policy is 'no need for tipping'. Oh, and pick up is FREE. By the way, you can subscribe to INSTECART free deliver from Shaws, but it will cost you $ 150 a year ! I just laughed a little at the last review. Completely disagree. Incredibly friendly staff, great selection and I do like the layout of the store. Of the hundreds of times I've been in, I've been held up in the checkout maybe a few times including the night time. Luckily I understand staffing issues and working in a customer service job. Being patient goes a long way, never had a cashier who wasn't friendly to me. I'll continue to shop here as my go-to place! If I had a real problem with this store, which I don't, i would just shop elsewhere instead of making myself feel better by writing a bad review on a website.. read more

Absolutely horrible. 15 registers and you are lucky if 4 are open. Get ready to spend 20 minutes checking out EVERY TIME you go. Think you can escape and go to the express registers? Think again - those lines are just as long. There is an hilarious sign in the BACK of the store showing "Never more than three people in line". HA! It's in the back of the store and not where the registers are because people would make so much fun of it during their 20 minute wait. Not unusual to see people just leave there groceries and walk out. Fat manager does nothing but walk up and down and do nothing. She will see a person bagging their own groceries and couldn't care less. Go to Market Basket - always busy but better prices (by far!) and consistently speedy check-out regardless of how many people in line. Oh, and they are pleasant - not like the stiff robots in Shaws. Seriously don't know how this place stays in business. They are lucky the Stop 'n Shop across the street closed. read more
