I have to say I was looking for a sale item and couldn't find it. The lady that worked there couldn't find it either. So she asked the seafood department. He couldn't either so the girl asked the manager Eddy about the product. So he said, go to the service desk and have them give you a rain check. So just in case the next time I went in, I could get that product. As I continued my shopping, Eddie looked for me and gave me what I needed and he told me it was because the packaging was different so he went above and beyond as a manager to help me get what I wanted. I was so happy when he did that I was like wow he actually followed through with it. I do wanna say he did a great job, cahoots to Eddie. Great Job Shaws for the experienced managers. We used their delivery service. Very disappointed. I have MS and my husband has severe Scoliosis now has a hamstring injury. We have been trying out local delivery services. Well Shaw's failed with a capital F+. Granted there was only 2 items out of stock, but my order was missing 22 items that they said was delivered. I applied for a refund and was denied. We lost $52. Never walking in that store again. We did an order with Stop and Shop. They only had 1 item out of stock and got everything else perfectly. I'll stick to Stop and Shop delivery service when we are not able to go in person. read more

I bought a chocolate for students there finding out it was expired. I bought to the store and a night manager doubted that I bought there because I didn't have the receipt. I used my credit card. It was easy to prove. Get your groceries at stop & shop. read more

Shaw's is a horrible place to shop and work, Shaws tends to promote from outside than take more than qualified candidates from inside, that's why so many people complain about the employee, the moral is so low. read more

I absolutely HATE the phone app they force you to use to reduce the price of their overpriced products. It is a terrible customer experience. I have to shop with my phone in my hand and search for "U deals" to clip, which don't show up at the checkout unless you clip them hours before. You can show them your "wallet" if you can find it on the app, but often that doesn't work either. I don't have time to study your poorly designed app. Just reduce the prices, like Market Basket, which is where I will shop. read more

Shaw's has great fried chicken and some good deals. However, you have to make sure the digital coupons go through because often they don't. And the Customer service is often empty so you can't redeem it after. The last time I was there I caught it at the register but the cashier was surly and the supervisor was outright rude. They made a huge deal out of it and even made me show them I clipped the coupon on the app. I occasionally get a nice cashier but I think they get tired of the constant mistakes with the app and it shows in their manner. I was nervous to come here after seeing reviews but was happy after going! It seemed very clean, bright and open. I liked the layout of the produce as well. It's not cramped like other stores and was fairly fresh compared to other grocery stores in the area. They had a decent selection of items throughout. If I could put a negative score I would. I used to love shaws. It's on my way home from work so very convenient. No more I don't care how convenient it is. Market basket is my store now. I went to the shaws in mansfield. 2 registers open. Which I understand short staffed. I had to bag my own groceries which I don't mind. But this is the last time I will go. As I'm bagging my stuff the register person is all done ringing me up. You think they would help me finish bagging but no he just stood there watching me bag. Bought a lobster (steamed there) and 2 clusters of snow crab legs from this location today and both were not good! The lobster was supposed to be live, but the insides did not look fresh and the legs were salty to the point of being inedible. Nothing like the fresh lobster I had last week from a seafood shop in Marblehead. I steamed the crab legs and they were fishy and totally falling apart. The ends were even slimy. I definitely wouldn't recommend going here for seafood if it's out of convenience. It's not worth it! read more

Reliable and local, you can't beat that! Parking: There's always plenty. General Inventory: Always very well stocked. Can't remember a time when I couldn't find what I was looking for. Occasionally an herb or something in produce, but the team is usually very helpful to look in the back for whatever it is you may need. Deli: Friendly and helpful. I only wish they had the computer screen and pre-ordering like Stop and Shop does, which makes it even quicker to pick up your deli meats on the go. They offer good prices, and a lot of different brands/selections Seafood: It seems that they share the staff with the deli and you can almost never find someone waiting in seafood to take your order. You generally have to wait for someone to run over from the deli. Often times if I'm in a rush, I don't even bother waiting for seafood and choose something else for dinner because the wait can be a bit much. Their seafood selection is relatively fresh, especially for a large supermarket. Produce: While not the extensive supply of Market Basket, their produce offering is PRETTY GOOD. Way better than Stop and Shop who offer rotten green vegetables almost every time I go in... but nowhere near the turnover and supply of Market Basket or whole foods. Most days, this is adequate. I am a very regular shopper at this grocery store and can usually make it in and out pretty quickly. They probably could benefit from more of the "express self-serve check-outs" since at lunch time, sometimes there's still a line... however you can usually get out of here pretty quickly, unlike Market Basket in which you might as well give up a day in order to get your groceries. read more

Consistently very good to excellent. Actually the best store in the chain and have been to many of them through the years. Would have ranked it 5 stars except one has to reserve that for Market Basket. If you focus on the circular buys then I would definitely give it 5 stars. You'll only get a decent price if you have their saving card, and the items your getting happen to be on that special savings card sale at that time. Otherwise you're paying way too much. If this is a quick walk for you and you forgot 1 item or so in your Market Basket trip, sure, go here. Otherwise save your cash. The parking lot in this plaza gets packed all day, all around EXCEPT in front of Shaws. Total opposite of Market Basket in Danvers. However, I would suggest going here if you're trying to teach your son or daughter to bike ride or rollerskate. Their wide, clean, customer free aisle would provide a great environment for the novice rider. read more

I was shopping at Shaws in Beverly this evening (bearing in mind the number of COVID cases on the North Shore right now) and was checking out when something extremely troubling occurred; the bagger in my checkout line when I was checking out removed his mask so he could sneeze on his gloved hands. He did politely say "excuse me" and proceed to mumble as he put his mask back on. I asked the woman at the register to pass me my groceries and I carried them out. Clearly this employee was given the wrong responsibility. Disgusting. read more

I live down the street, so I shop daily here. The people are always friendly and helpful. There is a salad bar, soup choice is limited (2-3 usually chix noodle, chili) , chicken wing bar (I don't think they have boneless), olive bar. Lots of choices. There is a health food area, which is confusing because my chips may be in the chip aisle OR they may be in the health food chip aisle. The bakery cakes are moist and yummy. Lots of bread options, wide aisles, good lighting, not usually crowded. Prepared pizza is ready to go by the slice (long wait for a special order pie), Great produce section. Good parking lot, not some annoying design. read more

The store is clean and well stocked. The people are very nice. There are a couple problems though. The produce is usually past its prime and the prices are way higher than they should be, even with their special card. I go here mainly for their pizza at lunch. They make pizza right there and usually it's very good. Although sometimes it's super greasy. 1 slice will cost you about $2. read more

Let me start out by stating that I don't do my weekly shopping at Shaws, due to the high prices. I go in when I just need a few items. Quality & service varies. Today's visit was poor. There were exactly six green peppers in the bin. None were too fresh. At the deli, the older woman that waited on me does not feel it necessary to speak to her customers. When she came over to me she just stared. I asked her for a quantity of salami SLICED THICK. Most deli personnel will show you the cut when you ask for something other than the ordinary. Not her. When she was done, she simply threw the package on the counter: did not ask if I wanted anything else. When I got home, the salami was sliced paper thin. Since I only had a few items, I wanted to use self checkout. Three of the four were shut down. About eight people in line for the one that was working. Overall, from pricing to service, this store lets you know that they really don't give a damn. read more

I live less than a three minute walk away so this store is very convienient although way pricier than Market Basket. I usually go there for some basics and stuff on sale. You need to know your prices, for example a pint of Ben & Jerry's will set you back $4.79 as opposed to $2.50 at MB! They recently added an in- store Dunkin Donuts. The store is always clean and pretty well stocked. I have found the employees to be very friendly and helpful. read more

I bought 4 pounds of King Salmon today what's 16.99 dollars per pound. The person who served me was the same I saw last week leaving the rest room without washing his hands. He is hard in understanding what costumer want and giving them a hard time. He packed the salmon into a ball. He has no idea how to handle fish. I can't wait for wholefoods opening up. read more

Let me say that I'm generally NOT a huge fan of Shaw's. However, this store is about as good a supermarket as there is. Prices: hey prices are high everywhere but if you are careful with the items you buy-as in buy a lot of items that are on sale- it's not bad. Also, if you want good produce, you have to pay for it. Gave one star because you can't give less. If you really enjoy p*ss poor retail experiences this is the place for you! They have really great sales, just never actually stock the items advertised. But that's okay, there is never anyone working the sixteen registers anyhow. Luckily they have self check out lanes, unluckily at least half of those are broken at any one time. I met the new manager a couple weeks ago, he introduced himself when he heard me say they don't do customer service there any more. He said to give him a chance and he would improve things quickly. Yeah, not so much. Here is a good one, I was at the "customer service" desk one Sunday, Kristen (Multiple facial piercings, really love the green one in her nose) and Melissa were both behind he desk. They were talking to each other and never acknowledged my presence. I started timing them, it took 3 minutes before they even looked at me. Never said a word, did pick up my lottery card and sell me my ticket (Melissa). Then in a loud voice she declared " I HAVE TO PEE SO BAD!" Women across the store turned to look where that came from. How totally professional I have a tip for you, there is a Stop and Shop 1 mile down the road. They have people at the registers and BRAND NEW self check out lane machines. read more

I have tried to purchase cases of a certain frozen food, that I have been CONTINUALLY told is no problem, and it can be in store within a week. I have driven there (not easy, as I am disabled) and been told 'sorry, they are not here'. (mistakes happen), I ordered them again. Drove down there.. to be told 'sorry, they are not here'. Before leaving, they convince me that there will be no further issues, and GUARANTEED there would be in 3 days. Ok.. again, I order. I call before going to pick up, and told 'sorry, they are not here'. I then spoke to the MANAGER of dept.... and I was talked into trying again... Making this my 5th TRY... and did so. I was about to go pick up, when I decided to call.. and guess what? Yup... 'sorry, not in'. This has inconvenienced me to no end. I have spent lots of time, money and energy. These items are for the elderly and I have now 'strung' them along for 5 weeks!! I am beside myself here, and really upset. If you can not do something, then say no. It is pretty simple to do. If you DO PROMISE... then follow through and get the product!!! Especially, when it is promised and screwed up SO MANY TIMES. I would have shopped elsewhere! I am sure no person will reach out, and I am sure this will be 'swept' under the rug. Nobody seems to care... nobody seems to want to do good on their promise... Nobody seems to think it is wrong to continually promise something to someone and then, simply not give a damn. Nobody seems to give a Sh**!!!!! read more

Now I go here once an while but I usually go to Stop & Shop. Food: I don't go here for the meat because its really expansive. That being said I think there fruit is regulator price but the vegetables are expansive but there really fresh. Overall: I say if your willing to go the extra mile to get fresh fruit and vegetables come here. read more

I don't usually shop here since it is out of my way. When I do come in, it is clean and well stocked with fresh foods. In November 2014, I was shopping in this Shaw's and passed out! The staff couldn't have been better! from calling an ambulance to staying at my side, it made a scary experience better. I don't know the names of the people who assisted me, but from the manager to stockers, they were exceptional! Fortunately, I don't make a habit of passing out and everything is fine. Run in on my way home from work and can find everything I need pretty quickly. Parking lot is always chaotic plaza is very busy. The women Debbie at the deli always remembers my order and is always patient and friendly I always get deli when she's there. Also produce always looks great the produce manager was very helpful!! Just wished that would sample more bakery I always want to try new treats but a little pricey to buy then and up hateing it read more

I only shop here because it's local, otherwise not at all impressed with this store. I just left there a little while ago. At 12:20PM on a Friday afternoon, there are exactly THREE checkouts staffed. They have 16 checkout lanes in the store. No matter what time of day I go into this store, I have never seen more than FIVE registers in operation tops! At 8:30 in the evening, it is normal to see only ONE register staffed. Of course they have the self-check out lanes, however there is normally either 1 or 2 of these out of order, otherwise long lines here as well. Using these self-check outs if another experience entirely. Practically every transaction you need a clerk to come over for assistance. If you merely reach into your bag to adjust items, it flags the help light to go off, as apparently the system thinks you are trying to steal or something. Perhaps this store should remove maybe 9 or 10 of their checkout lanes and make room for more merchandise, since they NEVER use more than 5 registers at any given time. read more
