I am in town on business and was in desperate need of a hair cut. I have a short bob that had grown out and had no time to go to my regular stylist of 6 years before my trips, so in desperation I found this place for a cut only. Shear Excitement was one of the only salons open on a Monday and open later hours also so I chose them although apprehensive. They got me in right then and a stylist named Courtney cut my hair. I was sooo worried because you can really screw up short hair, but she did a GREAT job. The place isn't the fanciest and that worried me A LOT at first. She was also really fast which worried me, but the finally result was exactly what I wanted so I appreciated that she was good and quick too. Highly recommend Courtney. My stylist (I am so sorry, I forgot your name!) was awesome. Short haired girl, very sweet, awesome stylist. I've only been once, but had a great experience with my cut, the friendly staff and yummy treats while you wait :) My boyfriend also goes here regularly for his cut and he is always happy with it. Gina has been my hairdresser for 5 years in New York and is AMAZING. I have really curly hair and don't let anyone touch it except for her. She really knows how to listen to what you want. When I colored my hair before her the hairdresser didn't listen to me and turned my hair red. Gina not only fixed it, but made me look like a bombshell. She's colored, highlighted, and trimmed my hair. I'm hoping to do balayage in the future. When I found out she was going to Florida I was so upset but after spending winter in NY I decided to visit Shear Excitement for some face framing highlights and a trim (and some sun). I have received nothing but compliments since. The salon itself is very spacious and clean, which I loved. If you go to Shear Excitement I highly recommend Gina! I am very picky about my hair, I have been going to the same person for the better part of 15 years but as she is retiring i had to be brave and try something new. I left the salon absolutely thrilled and a day later even more so. I was so fortunate to have been booked with Jordan. She is so sweet and a pleasure to sit with for a few hours, but she is also beyond talented and has a very good eye for what will look good on you. I switched up my chunky highlights to now have a mix in a subtle way and the color is just beautiful, she also changed my cut just a little and it very flattering. I would highly recommend her to anyone not sure of looking to make a transition to a new stylist. Will now be my new hair place!!! Cut appears pretty good. The stylist I had the appointment with got changed on me when I arrived. I did not receive the conditioning treatment that was included and my stylist did not want to dry my hair, wanted me to let it air dry. Whatever you do, DO NOT allow Eda Ivonne near your hair with scissors! My hairdresser was out, so they scheduled me with Eda Ivonne. Eda was friendly enough, in fact, she's a really nice girl, but clearly, she doesn't know how to cut long hair. I brought a picture with me so she could see the style I wanted, (a typical layered cut for long hair that angles to frame the face). I wanted the back of my hair to be rounded, but I ended up with uneven layers and a V in the back that looks eerily similar to a rat-tail. I have an appointment with Courtney later today to see if she can fix this disaster! Update: So I just came back from seeing Courtney. Wow, that girl is amazing! Thankfully, she was able to fix the disaster cut I received from Eda Ivonne. My hair looks far better now. From now on, Courtney is the only person I'll see at Shear Excitement Thanks Courtney! read more

I had a really bad experience since they have specific days for people who come in with coupons and the person kept changing the appointments. The person who answers the phone, Alli and the supervisor Cathy, were extremely rude. Once I called them to complain about how badly they were treating the customer, they would hang up the phone. Let me start by saying this is my first bad review...ever. I had a horrible experience. I went in to have a Balayage. I showed my stylist a few pictures of what i wanted and I told her I don't like the caramel brassy color. My hair is usually easy to get to a nice light blond. My hair ended up completely brassy, and not blended. My hair was completely blond. I said I would come back another day to have my hair fixed. **I called and I ended up talking to one of the stylist who was COMPLETELY disrespectful when all I wanted was an explanation of how toners work. She gave me so much attitude. We ended up yelling, and I had to calm her down because we were going nowhere. ** I went back to get my hair fixed by a different stylist, and the manager showed up to guide the new stylist. (By the way I asked the manager if she could be the one to fix my hair, and she basically said no, because she was booked for the next two weeks. I said I would wait, and she still made up excuses). The stylist who fixed my hair was so sweet. She was supposed to add brown to my hair to blend the color and give more dimension. My hair ended up a dark RED at the top. So she had to do it AGAIN. She finally got a good brown, but to my surprise, it looks RED-BROWN in the sun. By the way, when I went back to get my hair fixed, the stylist said I would need a haircut pretty soon because my ends were damaged, but the 1st stylist had given me a haircut the weekend before. I wish I could give more stars because the main stylists were very sweet, but I can't give stars on niceness. I paid around $250 in total and I will never go back. I just left this Salon with both of my daughters. We stopped in for a TRIM, no wash or style, just a split end TRIM. I even made a point of telling the stylist when my youngest took her turn, I was ok with a couple inches being trimmed as she has hair all the way don her back (all one length) imagine my shock when my 9 year old came around the corner with BANGS and not just any bangs, ABOVE HER EYEBROWS!!!!! I am in disbelief that not asking the parent who was present in the salon if this was ok, did not even cross the womans mind. now my daughter is home bawling her eyes out because she has gotten a drop jaw reaction from everyone we have encountered. I called the salon and the initial person who answered seemed very uninterested in my distress, i said I would never return and she said "ok". The stylist did call and apologize, but at this point those are words, there is nothing to be done to fix this ,that a very long period of time won't be involved. After searching for a salon I was told about how "great" Shear Exicitement is by a friend of a friend and how wounderful the stylist Tan is. The first time she cut my hair after growing it in for 5 years after a bout with cancer which left me bald she botched it up so bad I had to go back the next day to have Tan fix the haircut and it looked even worse & she still charged me full price for the 2nd fixer cut and I still looked better when I was bald with cancer. Four months, later after my hair grew in I decided to give Tan a 2nd chance, when I called Tan to adviseher that I would be 5 to 10 minutes late due to rain and bad traffice,I was told by Karen(who answered the phone) after being put on hold for over 5 minutes,That Tan COULD CUT MY HAIR BUT NOT DRY IT, YET I WOULS STILL BE CHARGED FULL PRICE FOR A WASH, CUT & BLOWDRY,I explained I had to go to dinner after my cut and I can't go with wet hair, I was told by Karen that Tan had to leave the Salon by 8pm and had no time to dry my hair if I was not there by 6:45pm because she also had another haircut schedule after me which tells me my cut would have been rushed and my hair would have looked like crap again for 3 months till it grew out again.You cant do a great cut in 10 munutes, Maby this was a God send. just to see what they would say I explained I really needed to have the cut that evening & I was going to drive around looking for a salon that was open & would take me so I could get my hair cut cause the dinner I was attending was that important, I was told that perhaps I should do this that Tan had no time for me & what I wanted. I now have an appointment at the BILLY SULLO SALON in Ft. Lauderdale which is what I should have done from the get-go months ago the Sullo Salon will go the extra mile for the customer & will say open the extra 15minutes to finish a client because client satisfaction is what they are all aboutI refuse to put any stars for Shear Excitement they dont deserve any. My favorite hair salon in South Florida! Lyndsay does my cut and color. When i first started seeing her, my hair was severely damaged and broken from my previous colorist overdoing. She has been able to get my hair back to it's original health and fullness while still keeping the color great. She knows I get uneasy about haircuts and has always exceeded my requests. They also have a good front desk staff who are always able to accommodate me and book what I need. read more

Melanie is the best. After being highly recommended to this salon I went and asked for the person who is good with color and fine hair. I was sent to Melanie and she is great with my fine, delicate hair. My color is always perfect. I went there recently and Melanie was away and the stylist I got was not good with fine hair and really butchered it. Melanie was able to salvage my hair and get it healthy looking again. I have seen some great hair cuts especially on people with long thick hair. So many of the stylist are good. But Melanie is awesome. If you want a good stylist you will have to wait for an appointment because the good ones are booked. read more
