What a wonderful experience in customer service and a quality hair cut I had recently. I walked in two hours early by mistake, (it was my first time there), and they acted like it was no big deal. I felt like a doofus, but they were so kind. The stylist I was scheduled to see wasn't available but they said Caty was. The woman up front said she's good, she does her hair, and she had great hair. Caty was friendly and skilled. She really demonstrated the difference between just getting your hair cut and getting a really good cut. Last time I went to an inexpensive place where they just trimmed an inch or two off, and my hair looked the same. It didn't have that great feeling and look like when you go to a salon. It was just a little shorter. Caty knew what my hair needed to give it some lift and life. A quick blow dry with some product and I looked and felt so much better. I live In the Central West End and drive the 45 minutes to Shear Lock Combs. That should tell you how much I love the salon. I tried to switch to a salon closer to me, but had a terrible experience. Alysha has cut and colored my hair for the past 7 years. She is straight forward and honest with her opinions about what colors and cuts would look best. It is insanely hard to find that in a hair dresser. I would absolutely recommend this salon to any of my friends or family. read more

I got my hair cut by Debbie and she was very good at giving me what I wanted. She kept asking me my preferences and the end result was perfect. The men's cut was 25 which is decent for the area. She made great conversation and was friendly. The salon also has an adorable dog running around if you're into animals! read more

I've been going to this place for about 10 yrs and always use Casey Gammon. I actually followed her from her previous salon! I get cut, color and foils and always get my eyebrows waxed. You can tell her specifically what you want or just let her do her thing. I've done both and never been disappointed. If you show her a picture of a style you want but your hair won't look the same (due to texture, thickness, etc) she will be honest with you about it, but she will also give you options of what would work as close as possible. I am completely satisfied with Casey and the fabulous job she does on my hair. I never want anyone else to do my hair! The 4 star rating is due to the salon setting, not Casey's work. Although the salon has been updated over the last year it has a sort of outdated or just ehhh vibe. It is clean and all the girls that work there are really nice. Having to find a new stylist is one of the scariest things I've done since we moved to St Peters earlier this year. After having the same stylist for over 5 years, nervous was an understatement. Ashley was absolutely wonderful! She listened to my requests, gave feedback on what she thought would look best, and was patient when I asked her to take a little more length off, despite knowing her next client was waiting (I didn't ask for the right service when I made my appointment, so the time slot wasn't quite long enough). She was very explanatory regarding her process, as it was slightly different from what I was used to, as well as very thorough and gentle. I really wanted to like this place because my nail tech was soooo nice. And they got me in there pretty last minute. But sadly I had a very bad gel manicure that took an hour and a half, and is chipping off a week later. Sorry guys, but please get the gel technique down. It shouldn't take so long and it should last longer than the length of a regular manicure at $30 a pop. :( I have to get them redone immediately. Ugh. I made an appointment to get my 16 year olds daughters hair highlighted for the 1st time here & requested a partial foil with Casey. My daughter went in last Saturday with her Granmother ( I couldn't go) she was there 2.5 hours to come out with not a noticable difference in her hair. They went to pay & it was much more that expected first of all according to the website for a partial & but they didn't complain right then thinking maybe it would lighten. After getting home & looking @ it we didn't see highlights so my mom called as she goes to Casey. Casey would not call her only texted & argued that we didn't complain right then! We waited a day and Casey told my mom she did a baylage which was not what we requested and all we wanted was for her to fix this and add a few highlights to my daughters hair & make it look noticeable. After many more texts from the hairdresser and me calling the owner, who never returned my call, finally Casey agreed to add the highlights we wanted in the first place to my daughters hair. We went back in, it was extremely uncomfortable but she did it! It took 1 hour total and now looks amazing!!! That's all we wanted! A good hairdresser apologizes and normally wants to please clients, not argue & make them feel bad! My mom was a client of Casey's but will never go back. I liked how she fixed my daughters hair the second time but DO NOT like how we were treated & will never go back!!!! read more

Shop owner is not a friendly person. She would rather lose her stylist customers then work out a problem. Offered to show her pictures of why my daughter was upset with a hair color treatment and she didn't want to see it. Then accused me of things that were not true. I was planning on still going there because I liked the work my stylist did but won't return because of how rude the owner is. read more

I have lived by Shear Lock Combs for over 30 years and never went in because I thought they would be too expensive. I finally made an appointment with Alysha and she is great. I don't usually go to a salon to have my hair done but I am now a returning customer and so satisfied I wouldn't go anywhere else. I am an older woman and Alysha listens to what I think I want, makes suggestions and has never disappointed me with the results. I work at Sam's Club and the girls there have asked for her number to have her do their hair so to me that is a plus, if they like what she does then she is doing a fine job. I have had her color my hair with several colors, purple being one of them and loved it. read more
