A hidden spot since you would easily drive by it if you didn't know it was there. It's an exclusive place for Algerian food and it a tasty blend of Yemeni belonging to Middle Eastern flavors. If I misrepresented the food type, please reply back here and I can update this to the right information. Cons: Small staff and so it is difficult to know when they can help you or when to place an order for food. One or two seemed overworked since they have to serve everyone including the fast takeout and the dining area. It's a new business and that we in the learning stages. Pros: Comfortable and nice interior design elements to bring back from their native town. Nice and welcoming host to help you order and serve you. I am not sure what they language speak. They are a pleasure to be around. Good size portion and the food is very tasty and flavorful. Hit a few thumbs up below if you feel this helped you to get a chance to try their food out. After reading Mike Sula's review of Sheeba Mandi House in the Chicago Reader, we put SMH on our list of "musts." Anyone who loves exceptional food would be well advised to do the same! When we walked in, owner Abu Hani was dining with his family. He nicely suggested three dishes for newcomers to Yemeni food: the mutapq (pan fried lamb folded in bread), fahsa (a concoction of meat and potatoes served bubbling hot), and zurbian, a rice dish similar to biryani. All three were crazy good! Portions are generous, service is prompt and courteous, and prices are very reasonable. Heck, we left with enough leftovers for a second meal. One tip: no alcohol is permitted.

I can't explain how delicious and aromatic the rice was... This was a spectacular meal. I just came in to find something that was healthy because I'm on a diet but the truth is I ate three times more rice than I should've but it was absolutely delicious. I HAD to get another meal to go for my wife.

I was totally confused as to what to get because the closest thing to Yemeni food id had was greek/generic "Mediterranean" food so I knew about hummus and kebabs and baklava but that's the extent of my knowledge. Worker who took my order was super friendly and answered all my questions. I got chicken mandi and it FELL OFF THE BONE. I've never had chicken so tender before in my entire life. Incredible.

Of course the dill rice is always perfect and the green spicy sauce is a definite must as a dab that will add a perfect kick to each bite. My friends and I hit Noon at least once a month for our "vent session" and the waitstaff know us by now. They know we will need a nice glass of wine (heavy pour is needed-lol). And they bring the food in waves so we have time to sit and enjoy. I love this place on a weeknight because it is always bustling with people. Families, groups of older gents out for their weekly get together and friends like my table. Love the vibe! Please know- you can choose the dine in "north side" of the building for a nice outing with full bar service or you can choose the "south side" entrance for a casual faster service vibe geared for delivery pick up and tv to watch for a quick dine in. I find the staff to be very nice, welcoming and they will explain anything you don't know about. The menu is very detailed and lots of pictures. Last week, Jorge, our server, made sure our wine glasses were full and told me I would love the chicken fassenjan. As always- his suggestion turned out to be my new favorite!! Thanks, Jorge! I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile, and finally went today for lunch with one of my buds. I presume this is a small family-run business. A young man was our server and rung us up at the register too, though I do not believe he did the cooking of our meals. They serve familiar Turkish dishes, and if you do not know them then the pictures on the menu will be quite helpful. The place has a homey atmosphere, and there was a minimal lunch crowd this Saturday afternoon so the food came out fairly quickly after we placed our orders. I enjoyed my "kofte tabak" (kofte plate) with grilled meat mini-patties, rice with chickpeas, two kinds of "wraps" and a side salad. It was pretty good, though could have used a flavor boost with some sauce or other condiment. My bud ordered the "tavuk izgara" (grilled chicken), which he seemed to like though one of the chicken chunks was undercooked so he left that piece alone. We ordered cans of soft drinks, and were also served a small pitcher of ice water. I'm glad to have a Turkish food option in my 'hood now, and though our lunch was "good not great" I think My Doner is worth another try sometime.

Had a lot of take home to split. Everything here is great. The chicken Berlin is worth fighting over. I tried the chicken doner Iskender-so tasty!. The large, flavorful mixed grill contributed to the food overload. Lots of take home, yumm! Along the way we also had their hummos appetizer, homemade bread, yogurt (sprinkled with crushed walnuts & drizzled with olive oil). Finished with a bite of their homemade baklava with walnuts. Everybody left happy and full. Great flavors. Co-owner John hails from Aleppo, Syria and took refuge in Turkey, just across the border. He has done a very good job of learning English, and has brought an awesome restaurant to my neighborhood. Better pics next time!
