Ryan got us more then we could of ever thought out of our insurence claim. You see, Ryan has the same software as the insurence companies do on his lab top! This means that he can do the work for what they can pay, but he going above and beyond this....Ryan was able to get me back my damanges that were left out by my insurence adjustor. He ending up getting me back over 5800.00$$$ and did my roof and it looks great! The crew was clean and on time and the Owens Corning Preferred Contractor warranty I received was great and free. TL/DR: Merritt Roofing has completely eroded my trust in their products and service. I do NOT…read morerecommend. 8-months after installation, we still don't have a roof we can trust, and they seem to be done supporting me. We did our due diligence and spoke to several roofing companies before committing to Merritt to fully replace our roof. We liked the salesperson/Project Manager, Jason (who was fairly new to the company, but being mentored by another, Bryan), and the price was in the middle of the pack (just over $10K). We even went ahead and paid extra for the "Platinum Coverage" for added piece of mind. We did everything we could think of to receive a good quality service/product. August 2025 - The installation crew did such a bad job on our roof that Merritt have since told me (as if it would put my mind at ease) that they will no longer work with that crew. That's fine for the next folks, I guess, but doesn't help us at all. I understand that they do still work with the contractors of the crew, just not those exact installers, so no guarantee that the way their other crews behave will be any better. We were also surprised to find out that Merritt contracts in installation crews, as part of what we were hoping we were paying for by going with a large, named company was a dedicated installation team. We could have hired random contractors ourselves. The edges of all of the shingles at the ends of the roofs were cut so badly that they were crescent-shaped, and the shingles underneath were exposed. There were a number of chunks taken out of the shingles by carless ladder placement. One of the crew had decided to fix part of a gutter that he had dislodged by shooting a bunch of nails into it, shooting a nail through the bottom of my gutter in the process, and causing a leaking gutter. They had also cracked the soffits (The vent underneath the edge of the roof), and it was just hanging out. They hadn't even tried to repair it. Although this has now been put back in place, it is still cracked. There were numerous other issues with the installation, but the team packed up and left without saying anything to me, and the Salesperson/PM wasn't around either. I called the Salesperson/PM when I went outside to look at the roof, and let him know that I saw some issues with the roof. He came over and agreed that it wasn't acceptable. The team was called back to address, and one of them showed up. He replaced a couple of shingles, and then tried to leave again. He made it clear we weren't happy with the edges of all of the roofs, and that they needed to address. It was scheduled that they would come out a few days later and replace all of those shingles. So immediately we went from having a new roof to a repaired roof. When the team did come to repair the roof, they were supposed to start at 8:30 am. The first person finally arrived at 10:20 am. and they starting working at around 10:40 am. Once the repairs were completed I pointed out some areas I wasn't happy with, and was put in touch with Garrett Zarecky, the Merritt "Production Manager" and was told that they would settle in the next couple of months. Garrett scheduled a date with me at the end of September to come and inspect the roof. He also made a number of comments along the lines of "If we need to replace the whole roof, we will" and that he would check inside our attic space, if he felt it necessary. September 29th 2025 - Garret game to inspect the roof, did not go inside the attic, despite saying he would. He told me something along the lines of "I wouldn't be able to see any issues from in there anyway". He also noted a lot of my concerns, but told me he was happy with how the roof looked and how it was performing. He assured me that this roof was as good as new, despite admitting that they no longer worked with the crew that installed it. Nov/December 2025 - I was cleaning the gutters, preparing for winter, and noticed that there were still a number of shingles that had scuffs and even gouges out of them. There was also the head of a nail pushing through one of the shingles at the back of the house, close to the edge. There were a numbers of other issues with the way the shingles lay and looked cosmetically. I reached out to Jason, Bryan and Garrett, the Production Manager. Jason had left the company, which seemed odd for a person who had only started there a few months before, so Bryan came out to inspect the roof. He agreed that it looked like the shingles had been damaged in some way, possibly as a defect in the shingles, and asked Garrett to inspect the roof. Garrett told me that the damage wasn't caused by a defect, but by foot traffic. The fact that there had been enough foot traffic on my roof in the days after it was installed to cause damage, seems to be another indication of how poorly it was installed. Merritt's "Repair Guy" (Garrett's words), Alonzo, came out in December and removed large areas of shingles, replacing them

UPDATE: After I posted this review I got a call from the company within 24 hours asking how they could make things right. They quickly scheduled a touchup with Brice and he did a great job. Some trim we were ready to paint showed a good cleaning was all that was needed. We were also delighted with the quick and efficient cleaning of all windows inside and outside. This was done quickly and efficiently. We will use this service again when needed.

At first ABC seemed like a great value.. low cost of installation for new gutters and guards…read more Unfortunately, now that some time passed, the craftsmanship and quality are not holding up. When contacted, ABC decided to deflect and blame the roof (keep in mind no issue for years before the change in gutters) as the issue. Upon requesting them to come out and take a look to fix the issue they responded it would come at a cost.. which I agreed is fine. After several attempts to get someone onsite to diagnose and repair the issue they stopped responding to me. I've since asked other professionals to review and diagnose the issue. As one can see from the photos, a drainage issue was created by installing the gutter guard under the shingle and above the drip edge which created a bump/gap and does not allow water to roll down into the gutter. The issue is exacerbated now that it's had a few years to present itself as shown by the dark staining on the plywood. I now must pay out of pocket to fix the issue at a cost equal to or greater than what ABC originally charged me for installation of all new gutters.

The Gator Metal Roofing crew were here mid morning. They got right to work and we're very efficient. They removed the ridgeline, old flashing from exhaust pipes and electrical riser. They then worked on any soft spot repairs and placed a vapor lock down. More later. read more

What they did for me were roof repairs on about a 10 year home. The real reason Southern Star should be a must call for homeowners is I have solar panels. There was some roof damage, caused by squirrels, that precipitated us needing roof repairs. Well, if you have a solar array on your home just getting someone to just look at it has its challenges. Southern Star was the only company I got a response. The only one out of 5. Sure there are logistics to work through when you have solar panels. At the end of the day, the quote given was very reasonable and they were able to do the necessary repairs ASAP. Just surprises all around. If you need repairs on your roof, you should not hesitate to put Southern Star at the top. They are truly super stars in a business that may not have the best of reputations. Thanks to you all.

The estimate was scheduled promptly and the estimator Rhett was friendly and professional. Their estimate was in the middle of the 3 we received, but $2,000 higher than the roofing company we hired to install our new roof. When I texted Rhett to tell him we had gone with a roofing company whose estimate was more budget friendly for us, within moments I received a hard sell text telling me how the brand of shingles they used were far superior to any other brand of shingles out there and that I needed to consider that in making my decision. Believe me since this was the first new roof on my house in 25+ years I did my research on shingle brands and didn't choose a roofing company using some bargain basement brand of shingles! That $2,000 we saved is now more money that we are able to spend on other needed house projects.

I asked him some questions about the work I was planning on doing for the house I just bought, and he was able to get me an initial quote really quickly. Attached to the quote was all of New Roof's social media, insurance, and license information which was really nice. The price I paid vs the price I was quoted was about 15% different, but I chose to have 700$ of custom apron flashing added and was warned of the cost associated with some repairs that needed to be done underneath the actual shingles before hand. Alex was very quick to get back to me and very respectful to my home (taking off his shoes, making sure my dogs could use the bathroom while the roof was being repaired, etc). We were well warned about what the process of getting the roof replaced would be: the noise, the debris from the roof, the time it could take, etc. The best part of the process was that they were actually able to fix a major moisture issue in the roof I was unaware of, and my house smells a lot better now :). The crew that came to work on the house were great - I didn't personally talk to anyone but it was clear they were working hard and they cleaned up the yard very well. I got pictures of my roof before, during, and after. I asked a bunch of questions along the way and Alex was very responsive and answered all of them. I got about half a dozen quotes for my roof before I made a decision - New Roof was on the lower side of the quotes I got, they did not charge me a steep fee which was great (2 other quotes I got included one and the fee wasn't cheap), and I really appreciated how quick Alex was to respond to my messages and that I never felt "sold" during this process. My roof wasn't easy, the house was built in 1979 and had a roof that was previously done poorly installed and I think they did a great job replacing it and fixing the issues that were a result of the previous work. Also! From the time I paid to the time the job was done was a week :) Fast turn around time! Attached is a photo of the new roof - don't judge we are remodeling lol. But it looks great

Mike came to do the estimate the next morning. One day later, his crew came out to do the job. They were quick and efficient and the new gutter looks great. They even replaced the old curved connecting sections that the broken piece fit into so it looks extra sharp. The price is about what I expected to spend. Stacy, who answers phones and does scheduling, called to make sure I was satisfied before mailing out the invoice. This is a nice touch, because I'm used to paying contractors in cash at the completion of a job, whether I am satisfied or not.
