This place was a little overrated. I waited 20 minutes for nachos that were very mediocre. Everything was kinda overpriced. The staff was nice. Not a ton for the vegetarian. Hummus was nothing special.

I have been wanting to try the Shamoo Grill ever since it opened. I arrived with a group on a rainy day, so we chose to eat inside. There's a lounge area with both a regular table and several higher tables right near the grill area, but this is not a true sitdown restaurant. It's more of an indoor food court where you order food and carry it to your own table. I had studied the menu ahead and opted for the Shekamoo Grill chicken kebab and their eggplant dip with the upgraded pets. A single kebab is nine dollars but if you have more people, they will reduce the price of the kebabs to seven dollars each. I sat at a table to await service and was gestured over when my food was done. I shared the delicious chicken kebab with a couple of friends who also took tastes of the eggplant dip. The dip tasted was original and had a hint of mint in it. The pita chips were the perfect accompaniment. This was a dish that isn't available in San Luis, so it was fun to try something new. We sat and talked and sampled all the different dishes we had gotten from the different vendors in the restaurant and had a wonderful time sheltering from the rain indoors I did feel like the food was a bit overpriced for what amounted to take out. My lunch was $30, but I'll return and get the eggplant dip again!

The best food at SLO Ranch market. Chicken is excellent and they are very generous with the portions from the rice to sauces, to bread and amount of chicken. I would come back often to have a nice meal like this. It took a little while to receive our food but kind of expected for a Saturday. Quality of the food made up for it. Outside the restaurant is the best place to eat to catch some live music and get some sun. If you like this type of plate and food, I would say probably the best in SLO !

Pretty new Persian food place-- fast walk from where we were staying at the Residence Inn. This version of Mediterranean food is very tasty. The white sauce is perfect, refreshing with a hint of mint, to put on the rice, chicken, and salad. The salad is cucumber and tomato, a fresh element. The rice is fluffy and seasoned. I had the saffron chicken and though it was well cooked, the seasoning was just a little bitter. Because everything else was so delicious, we're gonna say that this was just a temporary glitch! If we lived locally this would be a place we would come back to a lot! Service is via pager, though they delivered our order to our table. It's inside "the Eateries at SLO Ranch" and has lots of tables and seats in an interesting location.

Came on a weekday for lunch and it was surprising how many people were already there for lunch. -Sambouseh: Good but felt more like a vehicle for their sauce than anything. -Hanger skewer: Standard. Glad it wasn't overcooked like another place I went to. -Crostini with chicken: SO.GOOD! This was my favorite thing I ordered -Koobideh wrap: Surprising that there was rice in it. Not used to that. The meat was good but the chicken will remain my favorite protein from here.

We visited on a beautiful warm day. A little busy for a weekday afternoon. We all ordered wraps and an appetizer to share. The food is amazing. Full of flavor and so delicious. We had a question "what is Sabzi sauce"? We were told it's their take on a chimichurri, so a mix of herbs and oil. We look forward to trying a variety of the other offerings. Shout out to the owner that came out to check on us. Yes, everything was perfectly delicious! See you soon and thank you

I tried the nachos and my husband tried the koobideh bowl and both were fantastic! The nachos were especially impressive - loaded with plenty of perfectly cooked meat and topped with flavorful red chile and yogurt sauce. I loved the creative twist of using pita chips instead of tortilla chips; they added the perfect crunch and held up so well with all the toppings.

We were so excited to try authentic Persian food - something we don't have much of where we are from - at this quaint food counter at the SLO Ranch Marketplace. We got the Shekamoo Plate ($32) which easily feeds two and is packed with so much flavor. For our two kebabs, we picked the saffron chicken and koobideh. Our favorite was the chicken which was juicy, tender, and so delicious! The koobideh was a little dry but pairing it with the shallot yogurt made it better. The plate comes with many sides - the soft and warm pita bread with a bright, flavorful hummus, the cool and refreshing shallot yogurt and shirazi salad, and grilled onions and tomatoes. The kebabs sat in a bed of saffron rice which we found to be ok. But overall the presentation was beautiful in the dishes they came out in! We were only disappointed that at the time we went (4:30pm'ish on a Friday) , they were out of the eggplant dip which we were so looking forward to trying based on other reviews. And because I didn't plan it out well (I forgot the shekamoo plate already had hummus) we ended up with more hummus than we wanted when we subbed our eggplant dip order with hummus instead. However the pita chips were really good and I can only imagine it would've been amazing with the eggplant dip! Great service, friendly front counter young lady. The owner came out to check on us too which I really appreciate!

Just really really good Persian food. Service was great and easy to find seating anywhere in the market.

The first thing my sister said when the food arrived was, "Wow!" I agree, wow! We got the Shekamoo Plate. More than enough for two. Chicken grilled to order. Warm pita. Super fresh shirazi. Well priced. Nice setting (brand new). Lots to see and do at the shops nearby. Highly recommend!

Don't sleep on this place at the SLO ranch farms! It is so good and the owner is so friendly! Hits on the menu include the saffron chicken skewer that is super tender and juicy and the koobideh (sp?). The green sauce it is served with it out of this world good. They were out of the eggplant dip, so they subbed hummus with the toppings and it was delicious. I'm craving it and I think they should add that option to the menu. I hear they do catering, too. Seems luke an awesome assortment of food for a party! read more

Great place to stop and stretch your legs not far off the 101 freeway. It is located in SLO Ranch Farms & Marketplace with several other wonderful businesses. New, trendy, family-friendly indoor/outdoor food hall space with very clean restrooms. We got the Shekamoo Plate for sharing tender saffron chicken and hangar steak kebabs, saffron basmati rice, Shirazi salad, hummus, shallot yogurt, and warm pita. The menu also includes some fusion dishes such as the loaded potatoes which were awesome! Prices are good and excellent service. Our compliments to the very kind chef.We were also eyeing a few other dishes on the menu for the next time we are passing through. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

This place is in what I would call a food court. You walk up order and sit down. I do like the way they have actual plates and silverware. The food was quite good. We ordered the Shekamoo that came with all sides. my wife and I shared it and it was plenty of food. The Lulu kebab was well cooked and everything was tasty. The hummus was excellent. read more

Thank you Mark. We call it Koobideh Kabab. Luleh kabob is just kind…
I was so excited to come to Shekamoo. We don't have anything like it for many miles, and certainly not any Persian food. Mind you it's kabab everyday (4 kinds), and one special stew -- not a full menu. Located in the lovely SLO Ranch marketplace in a food court-like area, my lady and I ordered the The Shekamoo Plate [$32] -- 2 kabob skewers, rice, and all 5 sides. This, my friends, seemed like a good way to try most everything, and oh, we ordered an Eggplant Dip [$12], too. Well, it was all prepared beautifully on multiple plates, and the chicken was grilled/charred, loved. And, while of the sides were good (shirazi salad, grilled onion & tomato, hummus, pita), the rice was just okay (no flavor, needs butter & salt), and the chicken was the worst thing -- how can it be both tender and stringy and an odd texture for chicken breast? Maybe the chicken used? It was so weird. Love the staff, love the idea of Persian food here, but the end product was mehhh. read more

It was different. It definitely took awhile to come out, they make everything from scratch I think. It was good, just not great, didn't have a lot of flavor for the dish. We moved to San Luis Obispo last fall and soon after decided to host our wedding reception in the backyard of our new home. Since half of our family is Persian, we were super happy to discover Shekamoo Grill. After just one visit, we were so impressed by the quality and authenticity of the food that we knew we wanted them to cater our wedding. We reached out to Sina, the owner, who helped us put together the perfect menu for our 100-person reception, with appetizers, mains, and sides that accommodated all of our guests. The food was outstanding, and our guests couldn't stop talking about it. One of the highlights of the evening was having Sina and his team grilling on-site. Our reception was a huge success, and Sina and his team played a big part in making it so memorable. We were already sold on Shekamoo before the wedding, but now we're even bigger fans. Totally recommend Sina and his team for any catered event (or just heading down to SLO Ranch for a great meal). read more

GREAT FOR LARGE PARTIES, TOO! Delicious food, every dish we've tried, and great folks running the restaurant. We like their food so much that my husband and I served it for his birthday--selecting a large carryout order for 30 guests, including main course, sides, and appetizers. Owners Sina and Lindsey were so very helpful in coordinating all that with us, the price was quite reasonable, their staff was great to deal with, and our guests raved about the food--from first stuffed date to the last juicy kebab. Major vibes from this spot. The ambiance in the new SLO Ranch Farms food hall literally shines in Shekamoo Grill's seating area. It feels bright and luxurious while the tantalizing aromas of that succulent chicken and grilled steak greet you. Hopefully you brought some pals to share the Persian nachos (they make their own chips!!!!) and paella. Vibrant and fresh flavor in every dish - for lunch my fave is the koobideh (beef and lamb mince kabob) wrap, add Sabzi sauce. At dinner time, I'm scarfing down that lamburger and a combo plate with saffron chicken and hanger steak. You won't regret it! The method to ordering here is "fast-casual" style, where you grab a buzzer upon ordering and return with it to the counter to retrieve your plates. It's pretty simple and I like that I can grab my cutlery from the water station on my way back to my table. They serve beer and wine from tasty local purveyors, like Saucelito Canyon (get the gruner vetliner!), Volatus, and Colony Mash Brewing. Oh, and don't forget dessert! I could go on and on about this place... but TLDR; Shekamoo Grill is where dreams come true. Feed your inner foodie and nourish the soul. read more

This is a difficult review because the quality was great, service was great presentation was great. But $38 for a combo plate is crazy work. I know things have gone up in price but that felt very excessive. I didn't know what to order so I asked if there was a combo plate. So I ordered what was suggested. I don't see the value. 2 kebabs some rice and hummus even if it was tasty. I should be able to get lunch for me and my wife for that amount of money. That was a $25 plate maximum. I may have ordered the wrong dish, considering the quality I should give it another shot. read more

We hired Shekamoo to cater a large event we held in the SLO Ranch Pavilion. From start to finish, the owner was direct, communicative and friendly. On the day of the event, very little communication was necessary because everything was already planned out in advance and set up in the space for us. The best part, however, is the food. They take incredible care in preparing their menu, and that dedication and taste was not lost with mass production. The food and dessert was incredible, and staff was very well prepared and thoughtful throughout. I would highly recommend Shekamoo for a meal and for catering! read more

Democratic governor We to 2 women in out 60's were very disappointed this in our chicken kabob lunch six pieces of broiled chicken on about a cup and a half of white rice was $14. This is called a plate. If you want the hummus, it's two dollars. If you want the salad it's +2 dollars. If you want the pita bread it's two more dollars each. We waited 30 minutes for our lunch. I finally went to the counter and asked where it was. He said. ' oh they're it now just 10 more seconds. ' I will not return there for lunch again. Oh yeah, and the chicken was nothing special. 5/5 dining experience. The food was delicious, fresh, reasonably priced, and well portioned. shekamoo introduced me to new flavors (sumac) I was very pleased with. The chimichurri is epic. I had the saffron chicken kebab plate, very good. My only critique is for there to be more colorful garnishes on the plate. Persian food on the Central Coast. We were visiting the SLO and Cambria area for a few days and found the Shekamoo Grill in San Luis Obispo. It's about a mile or two from the Madonna Inn, in a relatively new food court at 811 Froom Ranch Way. The food is very tasty, we had two Saffron Chicken plates, which are generously proportioned, actually large enough to share, and very reasonably priced. Sina, the owner, is a friendly and sincere guy, who visited with us for a few minutes, and shared his goal of providing Persian cuisine with a mixture of flavors. Whether you live in SLO, or are in transit between LA and SF, a stop at Shekamoo Grill may definitely be worth while. read more

Came for dinner last night. The food was delicious! Started with the crostini and the basil pesto was so good. I had the hangar steak kabob and it was cooked perfect medium rare. The rice had good flavor and there was a good portion of it. The pita bread was warm and there was enough for 2+ people to share. Wine choices were limited but the Rose I chose was pretty good. Shekamoo Grill is an absolute must-visit! This newly opened Persian restaurant in the SLO Ranch Farm Marketplace is already making a name for itself with its incredible flavors. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles. The food was outstanding, every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Persian flavors. We started with the loaded potatoes that have a shallot yogurt, mint pistachio pesto, and crispy onions. You have to try these! As well as the hummas and housemade pita chips - perfect amount of garlic (for us garlic lovers)! The steak was perfectly seasoned and juicy, the chicken kabob was tender and flavorful, and the nachos with their pita chips topped with koobideh beef, red chile sauce, shallot yogurt, fresh tomatoes, and basil were pure perfection! We also tried the Lamburger - the caramelized onions and tomato jam made the dish! The owners clearly take pride in their food and service, making you feel like a welcomed guest in their home. Whether you're a longtime fan of Persian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Shekamoo Grill is a fantastic addition to the SLO food scene. We will definitely be back soon! Highly recommend! read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Shekamoo Grill in San Luis Obispo, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As a SLO native, I can confidently say this is one of the best new restaurants in town. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The menu is packed with delicious options, but the Saffron Chicken and hanger steak were the true standouts - both incredibly tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with basmati rice, shallot yogurt, and a refreshing shirazi salad. I also trioed the lamburger and it was fantastic. For starters, the Eggplant Dip with garlic and herb pita chips is a must-try. The roasted eggplant combined with garlic and caramelized onions delivers a rich, savory flavor that's simply unforgettable. They also offer a potato starter that's equally fantastic. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're familiar with Persian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Shekamoo Grill is a must-visit in San Luis Obispo. I've already eaten there a half dozen times since they opened. read more

Everything from A to Z earned an A+ from us. Great service, a clean and welcoming space, and an overall fantastic experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind and clearly takes immense pride in his craft. It shows. The ice cold cucumber water was such a refreshing touch, and the hangar steak salad was outstanding. The proportions were perfect, with just the right balance and texture of walnuts, feta, and cucumber. The dressing was absolutely delicious. We also got chicken and rice which was amazing as well. Being part Lebanese and having worked in the restaurant industry in my younger years, I can appreciate good Persian / Mediterranean food and the difference that proper prep and genuinely fresh ingredients make. You can absolutely tell the food here is handled with care and quality from start to finish. Again A+, we will return again. Thanks! read more

We hired Shekamoo Grill to cater our wedding, and they absolutely delivered! The food was a huge hit with all of our guests - flavorful, beautifully presented, and served fresh. From the juicy kabobs to the perfectly seasoned rice and fresh salads, every dish tasted homemade and high quality. They were also very professional throughout the planning process. The team was responsive, punctual, and worked with us to customize the menu to fit our needs. On the day of the wedding, the setup was seamless, and everything ran smoothly. We got so many compliments from guests asking who did the catering - the portions were generous, and the flavors were authentic. If you're looking for delicious Persian or Mediterranean cuisine for your special event, we highly recommend Shekamoo Grill. They helped make our day even more memorable! read more

So excited to see them have a brick and mortar location after enjoying their food at Farmers on Thursdays. Shekamoo Grill is a hidden gem of San Luis Obispo. Located in the new SLO ranch farms (just off Los Osos Valley Road). I ordered the Saffron chicken plate, which includes flavorful basmati rice and a delectable yogurt. My friends ordered loaded potatoes and Persian nachos (cool fusion) which they loved. Owners and husband and wife team, Sina and Lindsey, were both at the restaurant and even talked with us for a few minutes. Very warm couple. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is friendly. It definitely gives the sense of a caring small town family operation and you can feel how passionate they are in having their customers experience their family's cultural cuisine. can't wait to come back :) read more

Shekamoo is the best fast-casual Persian restaurant in the Central Coast of California! Located in the charming SLO Ranch Farmers Market, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes authentic Persian koobideh, chicken, hanger steak and veggie kabobs, plus delicious appetizers, and several creative Persian/American fusion dishes. The service is exceptionally friendly and efficient. Leila, working the register, did an outstanding job taking orders and helping deliver food to tables, even while managing a busy line. The owner, Sina, personally came to my table when I asked to meet him, welcoming me with genuine Persian hospitality. This will definitely be my go-to lunch or dinner spot anytime I'm in SLO. read more

I've been hearing about this new spot from some of my traveling California Coastal friends - they say if you ever plan to do road tripping in Cali to stop and treat yourself here. So I'm excited that a group of friends and I are in fact set to road trip in March and will definitely set our points of rest to include this establishment - looking forward to this treat which I understand is a family ran business - extra bonus points! read more
