My friends and I (a group of five) decided to try and stop by Thai Palace . We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Tuesday and were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start to our experience. For food, we ordered two orders of the chicken satay, the pad thai, yellow curry, and two mango sticky rice desserts to share. Overall, the food was delicious. The chicken satay was probably my least favorite dish of everything we ordered, but it was still good. The standouts for us were definitely the Pad Thai and the yellow curry. The real star of the meal, however, was the mango sticky rice. It was one of the best versions I've had. What made it special was how balanced it was the coconut cream and sticky rice had a savory taste that paired well with the sweet mango perfectly. Many mango sticky rice desserts I've tried are overwhelmingly sweet, but this one had great balance and the mangoes were perfectly ripe and sweet. All five of us absolutely loved it. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. The staff were friendly, but not very attentive. My friends and I are Filipinos, we typically eat our meals with a spoon and fork. When our food arrived, we immediately asked for spoons, but they never came. We ended up making do with just our forks for the entire meal. The server checked on us a little after receiving our meals and asked how everything tasted, but after that we rarely saw anyone until we were nearly finished. There were a few things we requested that never made it to the table. Overall, the food was excellent and I would definitely come back, especially for the mango sticky rice. The service wasn't bad, but a little more attentiveness would have made the experience much better. read more

So disappointed. We've been ordering from this place for years. We got our order today and it was so disappointing. The eggrolls are now half the size they used to be and have bean noodles inside. There's like no veggies inside them. The pad ha prow had more veggies than chicken. The chicken is tiny shredded with big pieces of veggies. It tasted good but was a sad portion size. We were trying to get a quick bite before a show at the Fremont and the restaurants on either side were jam packed with a waiting list. This is a bit off the main street and not as crowded. We were able to get in and out in 45 minutes. The waiter was just a little bit better than us and seemed to chastise us a bit. Not rude, but not nice either. We had an appetizer sampler plate and a Thai noodles with vegetables. Tasty but I expected the vegetables to be cooked. It was sort of a salad with fried tofu and noodles over it. It was a tasty dish but I would not order it again. I have eaten lots of Thai food, including in Thailand. The place was pretty but the food, though good, was not outstanding. We are a Thai family visiting SLO to tour Cal Poly and stopped by downtown for a quick bite. Thai Palace was wonderful! We had the soft-shell crab apple salad, tom yum noodles, BBQ pork skewers, pad Thai, along with a few other dishes and desserts. Everything was delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and served in generous portions. The staff went above and beyond, making us feel so welcome. This place is serving up some really good Thai Food. Stopped by for dinner on Wednesday night and had a really nice dinner with my wife. We stopped by at 5pm and got seated immediately. Our service was very kind and helpful and we placed our order within minutes of being seated. We ordered the Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice and the Cashew Nut with Chicken which was the STAR of the night. Absulotely great dish packed with flavor, a must if you are here. The pineapple fried rice was also amazing. Both dishes are a 10/10. The Pad See Ew was good but nothing great and would have to rate that dish a 7 out of 10. Overall, I would definitely come back again if I am in the area and craving Thai food. Make sure to check them out, defenitly worth checking them out. A while back they changed the mushrooms to something I didn't prefer, so I stopped going there for a while. But they changed it back to the original type of mushroom I love. So, they won me back! We started with the fresh rolls. They are served with tamarind sauce, we asked if we could have peanut sauce and they said yes, they were good. Getting together with all the boys is a momentous occasion, so we decided to look for a new place to try out. We came across Thai Palace and had heard good things about it, so we decided to try it out. Located in the heart of downtown in a little block walkway, Thai Palace boasts a modest exterior that is blown away by the beautifully decorated themed interior. The environment provided a nice contained dining experience that we liked. Our waiters were very kind and patient with us as we struggled to choose items from their extensive menu. We ended up ordering their Pad Thai Noodles, Yellow Curry, Pad Can Seafood, and Sweet Crispy Basil Chicken. We didn't come in with super high expectations, but we were all super impressed and happy with our dishes. Everything we ordered had excellent flavor and came in good quantity. With the high quality food, good customer service, and nice ambiance Thai Palace is definitely a place we will look forward to getting again in the near future! read more

The food and the service were great but could use some improvement. I came in the evening to get a nice warm dinner after exploring the area. I waited 20min for a table even though I was the only one that needed a table. They offered to sit me across from the open doorway which I politely declined because it was a cold breeze and I would be facing the alleyway. Waited another few minutes to sit at a table nearby after I suggested it. I ordered their appetizer platter which was amazing and good portion size. I ordered the Panang curry with a small side of rice. I asked for it to be spicy and it wasn't, the flavor fell flat. I've always eaten Thai food so I was surprised how watered down the curry was. It wasn't rich and creamy like I'm used to. Everyone makes things differently but it was very obvious the curry was "stretched". Maybe coming in the evening two hours before closing wasn't the best decision? read more

I go here maybe 6 times a year. For the most part the service has always been good. The Tom Kha soup is the best in slo country. The reason I wrote this review is because my egg within my pad thai had a huge egg shell incorporated to it. I munched through it thinking it wouldnt be that bad. But it was like a four of a egg's shell! The crunchiness lingered after spitting it out and continued for several bites. Im a little concerned for this restaurant's constancy. I will say the pad Thai is not super traditional, seems like its been very Americanized. It doesn't come with peanuts or a lime and it lags mung beans... call me boujee but if I'm ordering here and spending close to $50 Itd be nice to have a little garnish.
