So delicious!! This is our favorite Thai restaurant in SLO county! Staff I are always friendly and the food always hits the spot. Don't forget to ask for Thai chilies!

Spicy Basil, Fried Rice, Pad See Ew.

After trying nearly all the Thai restaurants in SLO and the broader Central Coast, I can confidently say that Papa's Thai is the best in the region. The staff is kind, goes above and beyond to make you feel at home, and memorized my favorite meal after only a couple visits. Everything is tasty, flavorful, fresh, and consistent with each visit. I've enjoyed the Pad Thai, Pad Sew Ew, Drunken Noodles, Basil Chicken, Egg rolls, fried rice, papaya salad, cucumber salad, and many more dishes. If you want great Thai food, this is a great family to support and the best place to go.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and ordered family style. Didn't make any reservation. There is plenty of street parking. You order first a cash register before choosing your seat. We ordered the following: 1. Kao soi -- coconut milk based curry soup with chewy texture egg noodles). It had really tender chicken breast and well flavored soup that pairs well with rice as well 2. Shrimp pad see ew -- love how it's a dry charred stir fry; I love when pad see red aren't too saucy so this was exactly how I liked mine 3. Spicy basil chicken (hot) -- lots of fresh vegetables and basil which we love. It comes with rice. We ordered hot spice level; has a small kick but not too spicy in my opinion 4. Mixed vegetable -- fresh dish with good brown sauce. 5. Mango sticky rice -- green sticky rice I believe from pandan; very sweet and fresh mangos! They put the coconut sweetener sauce on side which is nice so you can drizzle as much as you like. Overall delicious The restaurant had lots of seating indoors and some outdoors. They provide takeout boxes and utensils so it's nice to be able to self serve and finish your meal without having to wait for anyone.

Service meh. Food not the best. We ordered the pad see ew combo and fried chicken rice. Wouldn't recommend or come back for. My husband is not a picky eater and didn't like it but we still ate.

I love this place! This is our favorite Thai spot in SLO. Not only is the food incredible, the service is wonderful and the staff are so kind and welcoming. Plenty of room at tables, clean, and love that they have copies of the local paper to eat, read, and relax. Not pictured are the fresh rolls and the red curry, both are amazing! Spice was accurate to what was requested :-)

I love Papas Thai. Absolutely love their food and the people who work there. My friends and I have been coming here for years. I have never had a single complaint with the food. My favorite is their chicken pad Thai. It's also amazing that they help support the local schools and community.

Quality/Quantity - Beef Pad See Ew - My daughter's favorite, except she got beef this time...? Chicken Pad Thai - Okay. Pork Eggplant - My wife's usual. I guess we are all creatures of old habits... Overall all the food was good. And they do not use MSG! Thanks. Atmosphere - Small local business, limited indoor and outdoor seating. Major street construction currently. We had to park a block away and walk around the construction. The construction also closed the major street to through traffic, which must really hurt business. Small shared mall parking, but we chose to NOT deal with the construction and walked. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm, closed Mondays. Clean enough bathrooms, see picture. Service - Counter service, just like the previous business. I like the self-service to-go container area. It saves us so much time if we have left overs. But your portions are not big enough to need to go containers, lol. And we are light eaters. Price - $51 + generous tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2020.

Our first time here today for lunch, immediately drawn in by the delicious smells wafting out to the patio. Lots of seating including a tall table for 8 which was perfect for our group of 7. A bit stuffy inside but preferable to the heat outside. Staff was helpful and friendly. We ordered -pad see ewe with chicken, -drunken noodles with chicken (my favorite, yummy vegetables, and medium spicy) -red curry (good flavor, comes with a small bowl of white or brown rice) -sautéed green veggies with tofu (asparagus, snow peas, so tasty!) -tom yum soup (the chicken was a bit over cooked and the flavor a bit heavy compared to others I've had but still good) -veggie fried rice (okay, a bit bland but I appreciated the broccoli florets) Overall a super satisfying meal and we would come back if we lived here!

On our central coast college tour, I appreciated that this Thai place had the following five spice levels: --Mild --Medium --Hot --Thai Hot --Extra Thai Hot Plus a nice little Buddha Shakyamuni with offerings.

For food, we ordered two orders of the chicken satay, the pad thai, yellow curry, and two mango sticky rice desserts to share. Overall, the food was delicious. The chicken satay was probably my least favorite dish of everything we ordered, but it was still good. The standouts for us were definitely the Pad Thai and the yellow curry. The real star of the meal, however, was the mango sticky rice. It was one of the best versions I've had. What made it special was how balanced it was the coconut cream and sticky rice had a savory taste that paired well with the sweet mango perfectly. Many mango sticky rice desserts I've tried are overwhelmingly sweet, but this one had great balance and the mangoes were perfectly ripe and sweet. All five of us absolutely loved it. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. The staff were friendly, but not very attentive. My friends and I are Filipinos, we typically eat our meals with a spoon and fork. When our food arrived, we immediately asked for spoons, but they never came. We ended up making do with just our forks for the entire meal. The server checked on us a little after receiving our meals and asked how everything tasted, but after that we rarely saw anyone until we were nearly finished. There were a few things we requested that never made it to the table. Overall, the food was excellent and I would definitely come back, especially for the mango sticky rice. The service wasn't bad, but a little more attentiveness would have made the experience much better.

The eggrolls are now half the size they used to be and have bean noodles inside. There's like no veggies inside them. The pad ha prow had more veggies than chicken. You order at the counter and are given a number. Since they weren't very busy, they brought the food to my table, which I appreciated. The prices were on the high side, though fairly typical for many Vietnamese restaurants in California. I ordered the pork platter with rice and fried egg rolls. The portion size was about right. The rice was fine--nothing particularly memorable. The pork was a generous serving and had visible grill marks, but it didn't seem freshly grilled. It appeared to have been grilled previously and then reheated. It was served hot, but the texture and presentation were not what I would expect from freshly grilled meat. Fresh off the grill would have made a noticeable difference. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside, but the filling was dry and fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they weren't a standout item either. The plate also came with iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, and pickled carrot and radish. The cucumber was fine, while the pickled vegetables were a bit more sour than I prefer. The biggest surprise was the dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Instead of the typical Vietnamese dipping sauce, which is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, this version had quite a bit of chili added and was much spicier than expected. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Overall, the meal was good, but not memorable enough to justify going out of my way for it. The prices felt a little high given the fast-food atmosphere. If I happened to be in the area again, I might stop in and give it another try, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return.

Thairiffic hits my bay area food snob craving on every level. Ironically, this was the last of the Thai restaurants I tried, and for good reason. It looks dinky and drab from the outside. The name is a dad joke (which I love). Visiting on a random weekday evening, the place was close to empty. As far as appearances go, the place didn't give much to hope for. However, I was beyond pleasantly surprised after receiving my order for pad see ew + pad thai. There were three things immediately apparent that made Thairiffic stand out: 1. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, Thairiffic honored my request for maximum spice. There is a definite kick for their "Thai hot" level. 2. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, the Pad Thai had a balanced flavor profile. Other places DOUSE the pad thai in sugar - yuck. This was a Pad Thai with savoriness, saltiness, sweetness, sourness, and spice. Yum. 3. The pad see ew had a distinct wok hei + golden mountain sauce flavor. Nice! I will also say that the shrimp in the pad thai was decently flavorful - same with the beef in the pad see ew. This is in contrast to the often "secondhand slap on" approach to the meats/proteins that I've had at other Thai places. Lastly, the price point here is I think the lowest of all the Thai places I've tried. If I could, I'd give it another star for that alone! The pad kee mao was okay. I think I'll stick to the pad thai and pad see ew. There's a decently sized menu with many other options (eg kao soi) which I'm excited to try. Above all else, I'm happy to find a go-to Thai place that hits the spot in SLO!
