I am a sucker for advertising. I had no choice but to stop at The World's Largest Steakhouse in Amarillo after seeing their billboard for over 100 miles. I had no choice but to stop at Wall Drug in South Dakota after the same. And so after seeing Tiktoks and Reels for Shelby's, a detour to get a kebab was not going to be missed. Still busy during the lunch rush, there were only two people working this afternoon. One older gent trying hard to take orders and call out orders. And a younger dude working the kitchen and trying to keep up. I chose a beef shawarma wrap and it only took five or so minutes. Loaded with beef, fresh fries, pickles, spicy garlic and more. And then wrapped tight before being grilled to perfection. Oh so delicious, it's a good thing there isn't a Shelby's in Charlotte (yet!) or I would be eating them every day. Ordered a schwarma, side cole slaw, and pop through Uber Eats. Restaurant didn't give my pop to the driver. I tried to call restaurant right away but was stuck in a voice loop telling me to order online. Also coleslaw was ridiculously overpriced for what I got (maybe a forkful if that in a small container) and they didn't give me a fork to eat it with. Scrumptious mixed shawarma platter. Both the chicken and beef were juicy and flavourful. Mixed with their multiple different sauces/dips (especially the garlic sauce), the meat was absolutely incredible. Must get the fries with this platter. Crispy fries that soak up the juices of the meat so well. I almost never have fries without ketchup, except with these golden babies. The salad was a nice, fresh touch, as well. Wished the platter came with pita bread to dip in the remainder of the garlic sauce. Also, not an ideal place to drop by for food if you're in a rush, as the food did take a while to be prepared. I wouldn't go into this place with high hopes that they will hold true to the word express in their business name. On more than one occasion, there is quite a wait for the food to come out, and if you're in no rush, the wait is definitely worth it. Now this isn't the healthiest of Middle Eastern cuisine, it's more of the delicious greasy kind. It definitely hits the spot if you're feeling like you want to splurge and not counting calories that day. Even the side salad isn't the typical fatoosh, oil based dressing, but a creamy dressing topped with feta cheese. The shawarma plate was really good but i recommend the sandwich for sure. It was really tasty and authentic. The service was friendly and looked like they were working as fast as they could to get the orders out. The place was really wet from the snow and when I voiced my concerns someone quickly took care of that situation so no customer would slip. If you like cold rice and cold chicken, this is probably the place to go. I decided to try something different because I always get Pita Pit at the UCC and saw someone standing outside Shelby's so i decided to give it a try after 2 years at UWO I can say with confidence that it will be my last. Although the man running the food truck was pretty nice, the same cannot be said about the food. Upon eating the Chicken and Rice that i ordered, there were 2 things that I immediately noticed. 1. Both the chicken and rice are cold and 2. The rice was not even half-cooked, it was still very hard. The rice was either cooked for 2 minutes or it was refrigerated or frozen and then microwaved for a good 10 seconds. Very disappointing experience. If you want bad shawarma, this is the place to go. Decent shawarma, then Barakat, and great shawarma, then Babaz. read more

Came here for dinner on a trip to London, I had a shawarma wrap - it was great, it was flavourful, and the meat wasn't too dry, and it had tasty sauce, though it was a bit overloaded, so it was slightly messy. I really like this company's offerings and having previously visited their sit-down store at 223 Horton St. E., so after seeing their food truck I had to stop in for some chicken shawarma. I've tried their chicken shawarma a couple of times with their homemade bread and it's delicious. I recommend it. If I may give one suggestion, I would say that the final dish contains too much salt. They combine several different parts together for a final product (seasoned chicken, multiple sauces, bread, etc.) and I'm not sure where the excess salt is included, but I think it takes away from the natural, healthy ingredients. I'd visit more if the processed food products (like salt and non-traditional middle eastern sauces) were reduced. Other than that it's great. read more

All day every day!!! I usually pick up and take this home, they have a big line but it goes pretty quick. Few ppl sitting and eating inside but I think the shawarma fries are best served at home with some beer! Its delicious, the only thing I would point out is that their shawarma fries have a honey-mustard like sauce which most ppl don't expect... Personally I'm down with it!!! Is this the BEST shawarma in London? I don't know - there's at least 2 others that are contenders (see my other reviews). read more

Swing and a miss. After reading all over Facebook about this mythical beast known as the shawarma poutine SAY WHAT? MY FAVOURITE MEAT AND MY FAVOURITE UNDERGRAD POST BAR FOOD ARE A THING NOW? THAT IS LIKE IF JOEY AND DAWSON HAD A BABY AND THEIR BABY HAD A BABY WITH COREY AND TOPANGAS BABY AND THAT BABY TOOK OVER THE WORLD anyways yeah as I was saying, shawarma fries. I saw it on Facebook. Usually all I see on Facebook are clickbait links THAT YOU CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, IT MADE ME SOB and poorly written political rants from people who are too busy ranting from their mom's couch about politics to actually work and pay taxes and be a part of the system. So a conceptualization as cool as Back II The Future's hover boards caught my attention. I found out via some clicking that I could make an order ready for pickup to save an extended wait without using the nightmare of an app that is just eat, by going through their website. Regular shawarma fries. $7.90. Ready by the time I drive from my office to the store. Done deal. By the time I get there is when it all goes downhill. $7.90 is a good price for a meal that covers all your food groups - meat, potatoes, and awesomeness. BUT, the thing that I got was both representing something that looked like a stoned 7-11 employees art project made using his employee discount, and also was about the size of a costco sample. And, to top it all off, the person at the counter tried to charge me $9.10 for an order I had an email confirmation for $7.90. We worked out the pricing difference via a manager coming out the back, and I was able to sit down to eat my sample dish. Shawarma fries in concept would be a deconstructed shawarma on top of a bed of tasty, crispy, delicious fries. In execution, you might look at them and think you were rolling with Jim Morrison at Woodstock '69. Pics attached The thing that I got had a bunch of strange borderline unidentifiable toppings that did not make sense to be on any dish labelled "shawarma" or "fries". Including mustard, BBQ sauce, and what looked like cold 7-11 nacho cheese sauce. I ate it anyways because the only thing I hate more than wasting food is pants and family members who want to kiss on the lips. But I didn't enjoy it. The small serving for the cost of a shawarma/salad/drink combo at their competitors turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I gave the restaurant two stars because of two reasons: - the dishes appear to be innovative and original and not a carbon copy of every other menu n this ethnicity in London. They even have chicken and waffles, something I haven't found since fritou closed - The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean Otherwise, eating shawarma fries was kind of like cheering for the leafs. You're excited because of the reputation and the expectation that they will be good. Which makes the letdown even harder, and akin to something like entering an arranged marriage and entering the honeymoon suite with the goal of consummating the relationship and finding out you married a lawnmower. I've been going to Shelby's since 2015. The drop in quality with their new locations and with the numerous price jumps has left a rather sour taste in my mouth. Also getting rid of higher quality add ons like garlic toum for squeeze bottle garlic sauce is odd, and sort of screams "we're trying to save money". Speaking of which, I know it is a pandemic, but now they give you about 1/2 of the meat when serving a chicken shawarma plate compared to when I went in about 8 months ago, and about 1/4 compared to when I went regularly in 2015. Surely these changes are related to opening 3 additional locations (1 of which did poorly). Kind of disappointed with the direction they've went for their business but understandable. read more

This would have been 5 stars but I went in person to pick some food up and saw that none of the employees were wearing face masks, and they were talking and laughing as they were making my food. Generally this isn't something that bothers me, but considering the current situation this is definitely a health hazard (aerosolized droplets from people talking and laughing are bound to land on the food they are preparing). Shelby's is a good place to eat, but not the best the sharwama I had. The place is nice and clean. There menu consists of various choices, plus family and catering options. I had there poutine and chicken shawarma, and both were decent. The poutine has overwhelming amount of bbq sauce, which took away the taste of everything else. read more

The portion size is good and the interior while not fancy, is always clean and has lots of booths for you to relax and enjoy your meal. My partner and I ordered a couple of chicken shawarma wraps through Skip the Dishes. The food arrived really fast, so it's surprising that the food wasn't very warm. The description from the website says: Chicken shawarma wrapped in homemade saj bread stuffed the Shelby's way with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, fries, and drizzled with hummus, creamy garlic, and tahini. I ordered mine "Shelbys way/lettuce." I didn't request any changes. It was so dry and bland. There were literally no tomatoes, no pickles, no hummus, and I'm pretty sure no tahini. Just chicken, some seasoned french fries, some sad lettuce, and a minuscule drizzle of garlic sauce. I won't eat from here again. I've had some amazing middle eastern "fast food" in my life, but this absolutely was not it. read more

I wish I could give a 0 for customer service. The owner and manager must have shit for brains. Not only can they not cook a falafel properly, they can't understand basic words/instructions saying "No meat". I get my order which contained chicken and a falafel that tasted like it was freezer burnt. I call them, and state my complaint, and right from the get-go they were argumentative, and yelling at me, how everything was my fault, that they couldn't understand what "No Meat" meant, how it was my fault that they didn't understand how to use a telephone, just to clarrify that No meat, means No meat. They wouldn't redo the order, nor give a refund, but the owner said..well what we could do is..give you a 10% off on your next order, but we wont issue you a refund on our stupidity. I then hung up, and phoned Just eat...the representative phoned them, they were also very adament on their stupidity, even when the representative asked them "Didn't you read when it said "No meat"? The representative told me that they didn't "click" what that meant. Just eat, gave me a full refund on the chicken orders...at least Just Eat knows how to be professional and how to deal with customers. read more

I've never had food here that I didn't like! Mixed shawarma platter with hot sauce is my favourite. The salad, mix of Greek and fattoush, is lovely! And the rice is so flavourful, I could eat it for days! All the wraps come in this amazing saj bread that makes it fresh and not too heavy or bready. But the wraps must be eaten right away! Absolutely awesome! We are here for the first time today and we're very impressed. First, the restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. Next, the portions are large, especially the platters. Won't go home hungry here. The taste is amazing! The chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and salad are truly great. Very tasty garlic and hummus. The hot sauce wasn't as hot as I'd like, but still good. FYI Shawarma or Shawurma (Arabic: / ALA-LC: shāwarmā;) is a Levantine Arab[1][2] meat preparation, where lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats are placed on a spit (commonly a vertical spit in restaurants), and may be grilled for as long as a day. The Beef Kabob, was actually Kafta, also not the same thing. The Galric they use ... yeah its Mayonaise. The Salad ? Not Fattouch ... its a mild cesar ? Terrible. Fries ? McCain ... seriously saw the bag at Costco. This is the Starbuck (basic white girl) version of Lebanese food. Overpriced, Plain and flavourless with small portions. It pains me to see actual Middle Eastern people serve food like this. I dont understand where the postive reviews come from. Save your money, visit Barakat or Paramount ... Actual Authentic food.
