We have been taking a lot of clothes to get dry cleaned here for over a year. The last time we had a vintage screen printed jacket that was accepted without looking at it and came back ruined. After many calls, trips back and text messaging, customer service offered us a refund of $20 (less than the original cost of cleaning which was $35). When original receipt with the $35 dollar charge was sent them, they sent back a receipt allegedly rung up at the same time and date as the one we supplied with the $20 charge and refund. How could you have done a refund at the same time and date and the original receipt?! Offering $20 for ruining a jacket with the excuse that they are not responsible for damages is insulting and ridiculous! Then who is responsible??? A screen-printing business we consulted to repair the jacket stated that Sheldon should have never tried to dry clean as the chemicals they use are damaging to the printing. read more

Guys I would highly recommend you not go here. The last time I did the girl messed up my suit. The girl was also very rude to me smelled like weed with a horrible smell of alcohol coming from her breath and just was not dressed work appropriate at all. I'm pretty sure the girls name was Skylar eberspeaker so if you ever go in while she's there I would just recommend going somewhere else. This girl needs to be fired! This dry cleaner does a terrible job. I brought in a dress to be steamed and they charged $17 and when I got it home the wrinkles were all still there. Brought in a coat previously to have cleaned and specifically marked where there were spots to treat and I swear they just took the stickers off and said it was done. The spots clearly had not been touched. I have had it. I will never use Sheldon again. Do not recommend. read more

I've used Sheldon's for my everyday dry cleaning so I didn't hesitate to use them for my wedding dress and my husbands suit after we got married. We dropped them off in august and my husbands suit was done quickly. Months passed and I started to worry. It did have red wine spilled on it so I just thought that was the reasoning. My husband finally reached out in dec/Jan and stayed in touch with the regional manager for awhile until they told us they had lost it. It was obvious the regional manager worked countless hours to find the dress and that meant a lot. At first, they offered a refund based on the insurance claim we filled out when it was dropped off which was basically the total amount that we paid. A few days later we were told they could get us the same dress from the designer for half off and personalized (covered by Sheldon's). I really didn't want to go through the long tailoring process again so we said we'd just take the original refund. However, he later said they'd only refund us for the half price dress since their offer was the lower price. Incredibly let down and I don't feel like anything I drop off is safe now, and that I wouldn't be fairly compensated if something else happened. We won't be returning to Sheldon's. read more

Their washing machines don't use enough water. so they don't get your laundry clean. The building is new, they have lots of nice places to sit while you're there, the cafe is a good perk, they have TV's the watch, but the point of a laundromat is to clean your clothes, and they don't. (unless you put a half a load in, which would be expensive) It's a bummer. read more

Deceivingly Disappointing! My boyfriend and his family use this dry cleaner only because it is very conveniently located, but even they have reported their garments have come back with tears, extra creases and new stains. I only went there because my boyfriend had dropped off my black suit jacket and was flabbergasted at what came back, it was obviously not pressed or cleaned and looked worse than it's original state! I've been to many cleaners in my day and even if a hem came undone on a pair of pants at least it looked clean. QUALITY OF SERVICE -1/5 * Sheldon appears reputable and nice since they are a chain, but the quality of their services is sub-standard. I was told they do not dry clean in-house, but are sent off to a central cleaning house off 28th St. which to me explains why the clothes come back damaged. I imagine they hire low paid unqualified laborers that couldn't care less about their job and the customers they never get to meet. I would trust a small moms and paps place that have the motivation to give care and attention to their customers clothes over a chain dry cleaners like Sheldon. CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/5* I feel like the women that work here have the potential to be nice, but appear defensive because they know what a bad job their cleaners do. They don't offer refunds, but will re-do the service. I felt I was at a loss either way so I gave them another chance worried I'll probably have to donate my suit to Goodwill or toss it. It came back pressed, but still had crumbs of some sort on it and shiny press marks all over. PRICE 1/5* I don't think they are cheap compared to other places so an even a bigger reason not to use them over their competitors. LOCATION 3/5* Centrally located of the East Beltline in a strip mall on Knapps Corner, BUT very tricky to find if you are unfamiliar with the area as I learned from my own driving in circles experience! ADVICE TO SHELDON OWNERS Please do a quality control check on your cleaning staff and implement some basic standards. I know in Grand Rapids you may not have a ton of competitors, but there are some that your customers will switch to and eventually those establishments will grow and buy you out I'm sure. After hearing complaints from other people about the damage, creases and unpressed clothes and my own experience, I would not return and do not recommend it for you, I still can't believe what a joke this place is...I had to laugh it was so bad! read more

These guys are awesome! I brought a suit in on a Friday afternoon and needed it back on Saturday. They assured me it would be done at 3pm on Saturday. I went in at about 2:30pm and my suit was already done. I got home and was very pleased to see they did an amazing job. The suit was perfectly clean and pressed. About 5 days later, I received a *HAND-WRITTEN* card in the mail from the clerk that helped me, Stephanie. I have never received a hand-written card from any cleaner before so this was a very pleasant surprise. The card also included a coupon for 25% off on my next cleaning. I am happy to say that I have found my go-to dry cleaner and will be using them again very soon. read more

They destroy your clothes and then blame you for it, do not use their wash and fold services. This is now the third time I have sent a bagful to be washed and they have returned my clothes damaged/shrunk/stained without any comment. When I bring these issues to them the response is always "we received the garments that way" or "you should have expected shrinkage/damage due to the nature of the fabric" and I receive no apology or reimbursement. These are all clothes I have washed before without issue on my own but suddenly when "professionals" do it they come back unwearable. I will not be using this service or others from them in the future and I advise you not to either. read more

Very confused by Sheldon Cleaners pricing policy. They charge $3.20 to dry clean a man's shirt and $6.55 for a women's shirt. When I dropped off my shirts to be dry cleaned and said they were men's I was charged $3.20 each, as opposed to the $6.55 and they came out just fine. I will no longer use Sheldon for anything. Terrible service! Asked to have normally laundered shirts dry cleaned and they told me it was "against the law" lol I asked her to look in the computer and she would see that I have done it before, and if I'm asking and paying for it why not? She said I can charge you for dry cleaning, but at the plant they go by the label and they wash it. I asked to dry clean, because they have a finish on them , or are dark in color and I don't want them to shrink. I also told her that in the past, they have laundered 100% silk shirts, labeled dry clean only, and turned them into 1/2 tops! So that isn't the case. The girl rolled her eyes at me. I said to her, is that how you treat all customers? They ask you to put a tag with special instructions, and you roll your eyes at them?There was another women there supervising, and she stood there with a smirk on her face. Interesting choice if supervising personal! I have come here for 7 years! I come ever week, and spend thousands of dollars a year here! They have terrible customer service, and high turnover with employees. So I am DONE! I will pick up my order, and will not be back! read more

Returned to GRR after 15 years in CA. Bought a home in Ada and wanted to establish with a local service. Took 3 Brooks Brothers suits ($1800 ea.) and 6 Polo pinpoint dress shirts ($140/ea.) in for cleaning...total loss. The suits were pressed to the point of fiber breakage and Egyptian cotton texture loss...shine returned. All 3 had multiple buttons broken or missing. Shirts all bled color and a total loss. Here's the insult. They send them out to a "Garment Institute" who blamed the manufacturer for all incidents. Net...I lost over $5000 in top end clothes and Sheldon denied responsibility...SERIOUSLY. These garments had previously dry cleaner involvement and no problems. Bottom line: if you have nice clothes and go to Sheldon...be prepared for a total loss. Sheldon Cleaners ruined two new shirts (burned), a pair of my dress pants (stained with unidentified substance!) and a pair of my wife's dress pants (permanent crease that she didn't ask for) over an 18 mo period. We kept going back because Sheldon has a location near our house but that proved to be $350 mistake. Sheldon Cleaner's never offered to pay for their mistakes. The only remediation they offered was to try to take the crease out of my wife's pants but they creased them again...leaving multiple crease marks!! I do a lot of travel for work and have used dozens of cleaners across the country and I can confidently say that Sheldon's is easily THE WORST cleaners I've ever come across. Needless to say, my wife and I will never use them again. Pity, because they're only a couple block from our house. read more

After I dropped off my bedding I got an email with a fifty percent off coupon. I called the cleaners and they would not let me apply it to my order an hour afterwards. I cannot possible rate this store low enough. I Picked up my dry cleaning and was told that "one pair of pants wouldn't be back until tomorrow" Stopped in the next day...still not there. The staff said they were going to put a "tracer" on them to find where they were and would call me the next day. I never received a call. I called three more times and was told each time they would contact me. Never once did I receive a call. I'm not sure if this is how all of the stores are ran but I can tell you the one at Knapp's Corner is worthless and because of that I will never use Sheldon Cleaners again. I will gladly drive an extra 10 minutes to use a different Company. read more

I had several dress shirts dry cleaned here and they came out pretty poorly done. They were wrinkled and seemed like they were not even cleaned! Worse, one of the shirts had a slight tear afterwards. read more
