Painting and other maintenance as far as appearance is concerned, has been deferred many years here. For instance, the parking lot is big, but the asphalt is cracked and could use sealcoating. Gas pumps show their age. Inside is equally unspectacular, and time-worn. I didn't see many options as far as coffee is concerned. There is a basic selection of snacks, drinks and convenience store items. One thing they DO have, is a HUGE selection of smoking, ahem, 'paraphernalia,' such as glass pipes and bongs. What elevated them from 2 stars to 3 stars was, quite simply, a kick-ass price for regular unleaded gasoline. I must have driven by at least a dozen gas stations spread over three towns yesterday, and Tiogue Gas was BY FAR the cheapest of ANYONE. It's amazing how much gas prices range. Tiogue Gas was charging $2.21 (not including the 9/10 cent) for regular, whereas most places were around $2.35. And, they were an incredible 28 cents lower than the Shell gas station at the corner of Tiogue Avenue and Hopkins Hill Road, which was selling regular unleaded for $2.49!

The gas station is connected to the wholesale club which makes it convenient. Usually, there are no lines or only a few minute queue to get gas. I've noticed that the gas prices are also the lower compared to other BJ's Gas stations that I go to in Johnston or Seekonk. With the BJ's One Mastercard (no annual credit card fee), I get 10¢ off/gallon at BJ's Gas which is great to have savings on top of savings.

The employees at this Dunkin' are always friendly. The store - which not only looks clean, but has a nice, clean smell - has two bathrooms, and has a decent assortment of drinks and snacks. It looks like they recently added some frozen food coolers. There's not much parking in front of the store, but they do have a large number of gas pumps. Note that they do charge a higher price if you use a card instead of cash to buy gas (it's not a deal-breaker for me since I almost always use cash to buy gas). Because the store is close to the intersection of Tiogue Avenue and Hopkins Hill Road, pulling out can be somewhat difficult sometimes, but not as bad as pulling out of the Cumberland Farms just up the street on Tiogue Avenue.

There are four pumps and an amply-sized parking lot, and it's in a location that is convenient, yet not too difficult to enter and exit. Gas prices were middle-of-the-road. Inside, the store is small, but does not feel cramped, and it appeared to be reasonably neat, clean and well-stocked. It has a decent variety of drinks, snacks and basic grocery items. The amount of space devoted to smoke shop items - which include cigars, glass pipes, bongs, vaping supplies, etc. - is impressive, and the displays are brightly lit with LED rope lights. Shelves of gum and similar items under the front of the checkout counter are also brightly lit with LED rope lights, giving the store a bright, cheerful atmosphere. And the man behind the register was equally cheerful. They get bonus points for carrying my favorite Arizona drink.

It's in a very busy location (across from Centreville Bank), and trying to turn left out of the bank is a harrowing experience, with people constantly pulling in and out of Speedway. The store itself is okay (there is a high employee turnover, with constant new faces), but its most serious flaw is lack of public restrooms. With Cumberland Farms - which does have bathrooms, and a better selection of food and drink - so close by, it usually makes more sense to go to Cumby's instead. I usually only stop at Speedway for gas, if I'm driving on the same side of the road.

In fact, I stopped here for a couple Red Bulls the other day after passing by the Cumberland Farms just up the road, because Cumby's parking lot was jam-packed. This location, at the corner of Cowesett and Coit avenues, is usually easy to get in and out of, and it is conveniently located for me. Given its small size, it's definitely not a full-service convenience store - just some basic snacks and drinks. It reminds me of an old-school gas station convenience store, like one I used to work in about 30 years ago when I was in college - not many of these left in an era of super-sized Cumbys. Although I have stopped at this location occasionally over the course of many years, I only just found out on my last visit that they have a public bathroom - I assumed the store was just too small to have a public bathroom, so I never bothered to look or ask for one. There is only one employee on duty here at any given time - that's all that is needed - and the employees who work there have always been polite. All in all, this is a good alternative if you are in a hurry and just want to grab some gas and/or basic snacks.

I've driven "boxes" for years from Jeep Wagoneers to Subaru Foresters and no matter what car wash I've taken them to the brushes have never done a good job cleaning the back of the car. It isn't a problem at the ones that have crews who dry your car afterwards because they hand wipe the back clean. This automatic one makes the back look clean as a whistle and at just $5.00 for the basic wash it is one quarter the price or less than a staffed car wash. (Plus you don't have to leave a tip. :) ) If you've had the same problem with getting your vehicle totally clean pull into this Shell at the corner of Cowesett and Coit Avenues. You won't be sorry. :-) PS - It takes bills but not cards and doesn't make change so if you don't have the right change you can go in the store first and they'll give you a receipt with a code to put into the payment machine at the wash.

It's understandable that this store was never updated, since it sees less traffic than its sister stores. Knotty Oak Road (a/k/a Route 116) is mostly residential and leads to the town of Scituate, which is not heavily populated. Gas prices here were middle-of-the road: not the cheapest, and not the most expensive I saw while driving around multiple towns today. It's a small, plain-looking brick store, with a more limited selection of drinks and snacks. Beverage coolers looked like they needed to be restocked. The store is not as organized as newer Cumby's stores, and I don't believe they have a public bathroom (although I forgot to ask). I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in the store. The two employees behind the counter were helpful: when I had trouble finding a non-king-sized Snickers bar, one of them directed me to the right location. As I went to pay for my Snickers bar, one of the workers was curious as to why I was taking photos of the outside of the building, so I told them I do gas station surveys. I guess there's not much excitement around these parts. Anyway, this Cumby's has been here quite a while and nobody on Yelp had reviewed it thus far, so now it's official ....

By my count, Coventry has four different Cumberland Farms locations, and when I used to work in…read moretown, there were three that I stopped at pretty regularly, depending which way I was headed. My favorite of the three (rated 5 stars) was the one at the corner of New London Turnpike and Arnold Road. My least-favorite among the three was 785 Tiogue Avenue, which I rated at 3 stars. I would rate this one slightly higher, at 3.5 stars if I could, but Yelp does not allow half-star increments when leaving ratings, so it will stay at 3. Anyhow, this store has a different layout, and feels slightly more cramped than the other two stores. The bathroom was reasonably clean, considering the amount of customer traffic. I rated this store slightly higher than the Tiogue Avenue store because the parking lot is larger here. While it's still on Route 3 (Tiogue Avenue and Nooseneck Hill Road are just different sections of Route 3), this store is located on a slightly-less-congested part of Route 3, although the trade-off is that motorists are able to drive much faster, so caution is still required.
