QQ Market - Don't you LOVE old skool cracked seed shops that still use da glass jars to hold da cracked seeds?

The people who run QQ Market are so friendly!…read more While I was in Chinatown yesterday to get a Chinese BBQ plate for my pops, I just so happened to pass by a local business called - QQ Market, and what caught me eye were da large glass jars that held all of da local Chinese cracked seeds in them. Nothing like da old skool cracked seed stores, as it brings back a lot of fond memories for me as a kid when I used to go to da cracked seed stores to buy snacks. Now-a-dayz, whenever you walk into a cracked see store, all you'll mostly see is "pre-packaged cracked seeds", gone are the old skool glass jars. Upon walking into the store, I was greeted right away, and the nice kid who was working at the store offered me up some cracked seed samples as I was browsing around the store. After deciding on buying a half pound of seedless lihing cherry, he quickly packed up my order, and processed my payment of cash. As I was getting ready to leave the store, I guess his mom mentioned to me about their stamp card, and promptly gave me a stamp card after she stamped my card. Besides all of the great cracked seeds they sell here, she also mentioned to me that they do popcorn lei's, as well as cracked seed lei's which are prefect item for graduations, or birthday parties! A nice little find, and if you just so happed to be at the Maunakea Marketplace, you'll find QQ Market tucked away near the entrance area of the marketplace off of Maunakea Street.

Qute... Not exactly…read moresure what it means or represents but know that it does offer some cute and unique items that are not commonly found in other asian markets around in Chinatown. Thank you Nadine C for showing me this super cozy shop in Maunakea Marketplace as she had remembered being luck to for a special find that I wasn't fortunate to have located but enjoyed the various snacks items they have here just took me back when I was in China as we visited a nearby supermarket had the same type of vibe selling small individual snacks and by bulk/weight as well. The staff there knows exactly what each items are and are ready to inform you if you have any questions is nice versus a blank stare that I usually get but this fun shop has other fun merchandise as well beside snacks and will return to check them out and hope to find some Quteness as well. Thank you!

A small convenience store that sells Asian goods and daily food specials. Call in for specials…read more No air conditioning here or tables. Just take out. It's pretty dark inside. A variety of unique drinks such as a zero sugar watermelon and strawberry flavored sparkling seltzer water. Thanks Donna O.! Interesting items you won't find in a Safeway. Similar to 1-2 Buy, but on a much smaller scale. Service was 4/5 stars. Nice lady said she will contact me when the ginger plum candy comes into the store! Free parking is limited here. Careful as you enter and exit the parking lot. Big dip. Prices appear reasonable here. Check expiration dates before buying. Ambiance: 2/5 stars. Food: Drinks were refreshing and hydrating. 4/5 stars

Shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. Donna O. raved about Provinces Snacks on School Street. I read her review and knew that the shop had some free parking spaces next to the snack/convenience store. One thing that could be improved in the shop is the air-conditioning... I think there was none. Service was very pleasant! The cashier knew Donna when I mentioned her name. Shop keepers usually want to know how you found out about them. Merchandise was plentiful and had much variety. Basic groceries, cookies, candies, chips, etc. were neatly arranged on the shelves. Sanrio character plushies, keychains, and other items were either by the cashier or behind her. I looked at the Sale Items and got the Roasted garlic-flavored peanuts. They were good, but didn't have much garlic essence. LOL! I'll return and try something else like Spiced Braised Beef Flavor Lay's potato chips!

Their spicy shrimp is arguably the best on the island, I would say yes even better than kahuku or…read moregios or whatever is out there now. It's a hole in the wall, tucked away in a random street behind ward, and I'm not sure how anything else tastes but their spicy shrimp is really tasty. Can't speak for the health part either, but they also de-shell the shrimp which is super nice because I never eat the shell at other places and basically peel the marinade off.. so in that sense service is amazing also. I forgot to take pictures!

Literally a mini mart…read more.. Located on the corner of Ward and Halekuwila across Longs Go-rae is a very tiny mini mart is basically a place to be for snacks and to quench your thirst and is the place for $8 bento which is a nice combination mix plate filled with variety of meats on rice as well as spam musubi. Get there early for the best variety as at times when I swing by after work for there wasn't that many choices as all musubis were sold out but did manage to grab one of their spicy pork bento. Their spam musubi is cooked in some. shoyu sugar sauce which is nice and is topped on a generous amount of rice. Parking is available right in front or along the side of the building as well, the owners are just quietly manning the shop sitting there until you're ready, but are nice and friendly as I asked what each items in the variety of bentos, a great convenience for value and yummy munchies. Thank you!
