The gas pumps are not labeled as having ethanol (as required by state regulations) so I went inside to confirm on several occasions. None of the employees could verify whether the gas contained ethanol or not. This is important to me because I would rather use gas that is ethanol free if possible in my motorcycle. WARNING I to go this Shell station 4 to 5 times a week, but I am extremely disappointed with my experience this morning. The cashier as usual had trouble finding my cigarettes which is okay it happens and grabbed the wrong pack. Trusting the employee, I ran my card. While still standing at the counter, I noticed the pack was incorrect and pointed it out before leaving. The cashier realized the store was actually out of my brand, but refused to refund me. She claimed that because my card already went through, I "had to keep" the wrong pack. An employee error is not a "final sale." Forcing a regular customer to pay for and keep an item they did not want--simply because a card was swiped--is unacceptable. No apology. No have a nice day just - unnecessary attitude . If I did that to my customers I wouldn't have a job. If wasn't on the way to work I would asked for the manager immediately! Constant Awful morning service. Know your customers. Know your products or ask and acknowledge your mistakes. Fake empathy is better than showing annoyance. I will be taking my receipt and business across the street or ANYWHERE else for that matter. I used to love this store until the owner outed himself as a complete jackaloon tonight. I bought a homeless guy outside the store a breakfast sandwich and a couple of cans of tea. The homeless guy was being polite and was simply heating up his breakfast sandwich in the microwave (at the offer of a store employee) when the owner came out asked the homeless guy to leave simply because he was homeless. I asked him why and he said, "Because he'll loiter." When I told him he wasn't loitering, he told me he wouldn't negotiate with me. Was a complete jerk to the homeless guy and to me. I'll drive all the way to Wheaton to get gas before I give this ding dong another dime of my business again. What a clown. read more

This shell gas station is quite nice. Even though it's located right next to a fast food place. Trying to get in and out of the pumps is quite hard. Other than that I like filling up my cars here. Shell gas stands for high quality gas, a top tier company that makes good gas for your cars. So I rather fill up at this location than the one that's across the street. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They pride themselves in customer service. Always very attentive especially when it's very busy. Usually during the early afternoon hours. They greet every person that walks in and out. I've become a regular and go out of their way to greet me personally. Which is why I keep on coming back time after time. The inside and outside are very clean. They always make sure the floor is nice and tidy clean. They have good specials on anything and everything that you need. From snacks to drinks and if you are feeling hungry they also have very good beef stew. For a cold day or a slurpee for a hot day. All in all I'll be coming back here. So dear fellow yelpers if you're in the area be sure to stop in for anything and everything you need to hit the road. read more

I stopped in at this station last night 5/26/24 at 12:20 AM. I purchased $40.50 in gas and then went in to use their restroom. I was on the road and needed to use the restroom and therefore decided I would purchase gas while stopping to use the restroom. The door to the restroom was locked. I inquired with the worker who had earphones on for something. He took the earphones off when I inquired to tell me it was locked overnight. I then asked if I could get the key to unlock it which I could totally understand to keep non-customers out. He then repeated it is locked and I could not use it overnight. He said it with kind of a rude tone to it like I was doing something wrong about inquiring to get a key to use the restroom. I had a suit coat on and was professionally dressed so it wasn't like I was looking like someone coming in off the street and since I was the only customer at the station if he was paying attention at all he would have seen I had just pumped the gas that I had. I disagree with this policy as if I had any knowledge their restroom would have been closed I would have gone down the road a mile or two. I will not darken their door again with their uncaring attitude and policy. read more

The shell at waukegan rd and 176 in Lake Bluff is employed/managed by people that don't know how to do their job. Gas pump won't clear previous transaction and idiots working Sunday 4/23/2023 at 7pm had a attitude that they were doing me a favor by alowing me to buy fuel there, which I didn't do because they couldn't get it working and could care less about customer service or me spending my money there. Not the first time issues with the employees, advertising led sign at corner had price and at register price was higher, when I complained the cashier said " it's only $1 more, not a big deal" and nothing she could/would do about it. Thanks Grove Mart! I am a consistent gas customer and stopped in today to put air in my tire - $1.00 quarters only. I went in and asked for change and was REFUSED! I was told I had to buy something. I ended up buying a .$.25 piece of candy and leaving it there just so I could get 4 quarters. I am purchasing YOUR air service and you will not give me change. What if I filled my tank with gas using a credit card, would you have refused my request for change? GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Exchanged a propane tank and the new one had a bad valve and leaked badly. Went back and they refused to exchange as the manager wasn't there. Being Father's Day I needed a working tank. Manager called on the phone and lied to me repeatadly that they ran out of tanks the night before (I had already had the gate to tanks open and there were plenty of full tanks). Ended up paying AGAIN for a new tank and they more then happily took my full one back. Poor managment and crooks. Sorry whoever gets the bad tank next as I am sure it will be back in rotation. read more

The lot is a little difficult to get in and out of but since all three stations match each others price on this block might as well use the more modern Shell. They are open until midnight and reopen at 5am. read more
