I stopped to put $20 in my car before heading back to the city, only to discover they preauthorized $175.00 for my purchase. I called Amex and they said they would look into it, but even mor suspicious is when I called the station and was bold a) there was no manager b) the manager was at the store c) it was AMEX that was holding the charge. Obviously what they do is over authorize your card, get the deposits ASAP and then refund the overcharge, after they have used your money for a week. It's been 4 days and still pending so AmEx is going to flag the charge as fraud, which it is. I spoke to a friend that lives nearby and she said they do it all the time and the only way around it is to pay with cash inside or pay for a specific amount of gas. I vote for never going there again as long as I live because there is NOTHING posted about the 800% over-authorization, Mobil does not have any such policy and AMEX says it's a violation of merchant agreements and are investigating this practice. I wouldn't be so mad if it wasn't the only card I had with me and their crazy overcharge flagged fraud prevention (I never charge more than $50 on this card) and then couldn't pick up my dinner. This is a predatory business practice and you would be better off running out of gas and using roadside assistance than this den of thieves. It is not normal, nor legal.

In need of household goods, we made the trek and figured there was at least a few options available. We were wrong, this place is not a typical grocery store. It's a food emporium, with tons of aisles and plenty of choices. Was surprised they didn't have any manned stations (meat, deli, and fish usually have someone there with fresh products). This place just has more aisles. And while we might have one or two cases of a specific type of item, you got full aisles. And not just one aisle, but multiple. And many different brands and types. It's impressive to say the least. The discover only for card payments was a little weird. But not an issue since they take cash. Price was fairly reasonable as well. All-in-all, a fun trek for a mundane task. If you need to find a product, check woodsman's. They probably got it

They have cruddy hours. They are open Sundays usually but…read moretell me they get a shipment Saturday morning and if they run out by Sunday that's too bad for Sunday shoppers. Since Saturday and Sunday probably are their biggest shopping days of the week you would think they would care to give Sunday shoppers a good experience at least equal to Saturday shoppers. You pay to get treated like a criminal at Costco. They scan your id on the way in and compare your cart to your receipt on the way out like we are all recovering thieves. Inventory and offerings are inconsistent and unreliable. Try not to grow to like anything too much because odds are it will be gone for weeks or months before you see it again or they will just stop carrying it altogether. Also be prepared to have pushy sales people accost you throughout the store. It seems Costco rents floor space and takes a cut of proceeds every week from different carnival barkers selling some new gadget, cheap jewelry, car remotes, or mobile phone services. They used to have good meats at good prices but it seems good meat deals are harder to find. Clothing offerings are pretty mediocre. They definitely could offer some nicer clothes than they do. They push more and more shelf space away from name brands towards Costco Kirkland brand. They do have decent gas for good prices and good deals on tires and installation. They sell batteries at good prices but don't install them which is something they should offer.
