I had always avoided this Shell since their gas prices were usually the highest in town. I won a gift card from work and my car needed gas so I decided to fill up here. $5.99 was the price of a gallon of regular gas on 7/27/2026 and there was no one at this gas station when I showed up in the morning. I had an issue using my gift card at the pump so I went to see if anyone in the store could help me. The doors were locked but there was an old man at the window who helped me with my payment. I asked for a receipt which he printed for me since I wanted to make sure the entire gift card balance was used up. He didn't say anything or look at me while I was there. From the outside looking in, the store appeared to be empty. It didn't seem like they had anything to sell and if they did, it wasn't much. The lights weren't even turned on except for the little sunlight that was shining in. The gas station overall was very clean. It was big and had a lot of room to drive around. There were multiple ways to enter and exit. There was a service center but it was closed. The air and water machine costed 4 quarters to use. The guy that works at this gas station was one of the meanest people I've ever randomly encountered. I am LIVID after an encounter with the "person" who inhabits this establishment. I parked my car in an area that 1) was NOT under his authority and 2) I was only going to be 5 minutes, INCLUDING getting gas there. Unfortunately, most people don't check yelp reviews for gas stations, so I finally became terrorized by the owner at this gas station. I had some bird poop on the hood of my car, so I pulled in to get it squeegee off. I wasn't asking for any special service like air for my tires, bathroom, parking while at the Mexican restaurant. All I wanted was gas. His number 2 pump was not working properly and I waved to him to let him know I was having a problem. After a third try we were finally able to get it to work. Let me be clear, I wasn't doing anything wrong, it was a glitch he had to address with his pump. He was so rude and obnoxious towards me that I let him know that I wasn't going to patronize his business in the future. DO NOT COME HERE!!! I don't typically leave reviews but I recently had a very unpleasant interaction with an employee/owner (older Asian man) at this station. I parked at the stall and was using the squeegee to clean my windshield when the employee yelled at me and asked if I needed a car wash. I replied "no" and he told me to "get out!" First of all, I am not a customer of Shell and after today's ridiculous experience I will never be. Too bad Yelp doesn't let you give 0 stars. Like many of the other reviewers, they are absolutely correct when they talk and describe the extreme unprofessionalism and inappropriateness at this location. I show up and say that I would like to use my fuel rewards. The worker, older, looked to be asian, immediately gives off an attitude via body and facial expression. I resume to write my number down and he tries to enter it since I always use the Alt ID method. He fails to punch in the correct number twice and just throws the money back in the sliding container and says no. Then I tell him just charge the money without the rewards and he hesitantly takes the money. The worker there should carry himself a little differently. That's the last time I pump gas at that Shell. An old Asian man manning the cash register, refused my payment because it was in coins. His response was "we don't accept that" (mind you, they are not pennies). In the midst of the storm, I ran out of gas and have no money with me so I searched for coins in my car just to make it home. This guy refused to accept my coins. They are not dirty, they are spare changes in my car. What hurts the most is I didn't steal or anything, I was still paying with money in a smaller denomination. He looked at me with uttermost disgust when I asked him why "they" (Shell company) don't accept coins as payment. His response was "well we have to roll coins to deposit it in the bank". I dropped by this gas station this afternoon to fill up, expecting to use the same fuel rewards network card I use at any other Shell station. The cashier spoke little English and directed me "inside the bay" to see the manager, who was inside the service bay. This manager, Sam, has helped me once before trying to get the card to work at his pumps. The last time, over a month ago, he said to run it as a credit card, then told me to call Shell if it did not work. This time was different. Sam was very aggressive, walking me to the front of the station. He thrust a form at me, saying I needed to apply for another card. When I reached for the form, he formed his hands into fists and took a swing at me with no warning. Why? I suspect that as an intersex woman, he had an issue with my gender identity, deliberately calling me sir when I corrected him several times and offered to show him my identification if necessary. He even claimed not to read English. I told him to call the Alameda police, after which he did and gave a twisted version of the account, not allowing me to speak to the dispatcher. Two nice officers responded and took a report. Sam apparently and suddenly had a change of tune, telling one of the officers there was just a misunderstanding. Consider that Sam repeatedly called me sir, did not care about customer service, told me he did not know if I am gay or something. He would not answer when asked if a person's gender identity (or their legal true gender) threatened him in any fashion. This is clearly a gender discrimination issue, where he told me he did not want my business and to get off his property. All I did was go there to get gas and instead received this treatment. If you care about supporting equal rights for all, regardless of gender, race, color, etc, you may wish to choose another gas station for your business. Not once did I even dare ask him about his racial orientation, if he came to this country because he may have wanted to escape persecution in his home country or anything. I just wanted to buy gas and to find out why the discount card still did not work.
