Listen don't sleep on the gas station smash burger. Took less than 10 minutes for two burgers and seasoned fries. You order at the counter and there are tables off to the side of the store to sit and wait. The edges of the burger were crispy, and everything was fresh. The seasoned fries were so yummy! One of the better smash burgers in the area, for sure.

Amazing little hole-in-the-wall! Inside the gas station, there's a service window where Shelly serves up fresh and delicious burgers. Simple, fresh, and ACTUALLY GOOD. Love the sense of community it brings and we will 1000% be back. Perfect place to pick up and a burger and picnic at the park.

I never thought that I'd be writing a review for Yelp® or any other site praising a burger place inside a convenience store / gas station. But Shelly's 'Smashburgers inside Midwest petroleum in Sunset Hills (at the corner of Gravois and Lindbergh across from Sunset Ford) has quickly become my favorite go-to place in the St Louis area for smashburgers. I've ordered delivery from there once and I have eaten there in person once. Delivery from GrubHub was hot and delicious. Ordering and eating moments after preparation whilel the fries and burger was steaming hot. I ordered a Shelly's double burger with cheese with the standard toppings (American cheese, pickles and mustard) and garlic parmesan french fries each time. When I ordered by delivery, I also ordered a second smashburger thinking that the burgers would be small. Regarding visiting the burger place in person. Except for the fresh grill, it's a standard gas station convenience store. There is a small amount of indoor seating however I chose to eat mine in my van so I didn't get good pictures of the smashburgers in the huge amount of garlic parmesan fries that I ordered as a side. The kitchen closes at 8:00 p.m.

It was OK. I waited almost 20 minutes for food. The weird part was knowing where to stand because when you have to wait that long and the pick up is located in the line to check out it's awkward. Everywhere I moved, somebody needed to be where I was or they started standing in line behind me even when I was nowhere near line, when I was standing in front of the candy. Everyone is saying how great this but I think they just want to tell people that they got a Smashburger in a gas station. It really is no better than steak 'n and actually not as greasy delicious. The sign says made fresh to order but what it doesn't say is they wait till they get a bunch of orders and then make all the orders at once. That's at least what the cashier said to me. But I also heard him telling people that it would be three minutes. So the whole experience just wasn't great and we won't be back. Steak 'n Shake is literally less than 2 miles away. We got a combo and you get a large soda. We got the garlic Parmesan fries and it wasn't very good. I think in addition to getting that garlic powder on there, you need some salt and so I would say they were much more garlic forward than Parmesan. There was not a good balance. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. Oh, by the way, the candy was on sale two for five, but you had to have the card which he didn't ask me if I had. But without it each one is like $3.75 with tax. That's a lot of money for candy.

I've been eyeing this spot for months and was starving after work. I also needed gas... and this place is located inside of a gas station. I know from experience, that sometimes these type of places are the best! And-- I was right! This place was awesome. I actually ordered a Kid's Burger because I'm not into double cheeseburgers, too much meat. The burger was so juicy; flavorful and CRISPY on the edges. The toppings were fresh and the Shelley's sauce was delicious! I also got an order of fries with Red Hot Riplets seasoning and they were super crispy and flavorful. Take-out only, food is ready in about 5 minutes. Staff were friendly, you order and pickup at the gas station counter. I would totally come back if I was in the area!

Great smash burgers and fries for a reasonable price. I had the double spice smash burger and traditional fries. Excellent cheap lunch....did I mention the 32oz fountain drink, all for less than 12 bucks!!

Headed to the movies at Ronnie's tonight and stopped into Shelly's Gas Station to grab snacks and food beforehand. This place ROCKS!!! Every kind of snack, lots of hard ciders and canned mixed drinks along with the typical fare. Also lots of homemade goodies and then you can also get Smash Burgers and fries! Guys at the counter were super nice and helpful too! Here's a tip...order the burgers first since they take a bit ...made to order with the crispy edges too. Also, bring a big bag and then you're all set for the movies!

Incredible burger, fast service, and you order it directly from the gas station register. One of the best burgers in town, no doubt!!

Service was great at both the counter and the table. I had the Split & Melt which was delicious. Crispy smash patties, gooey cheese, buttery bread. The mac and cheese was amazing, the onion rings were flavorful and crispy, and the fries were also very well seasoned and crispy. Overall, everything was a 10/10. Price: All together, with a dollar tip, I paid $27 and change, which to me is incredibly pricey for counter service. $2 for a dipping sauce is steep, and for a small container. Next time? I'd skip the dipping sauce and homemade lemonade to save $7. I'll be back but not running to pay this much again. The storefront: the direct out front, small parking lot was packed and people were going into the gated lot to find parking. Only one person working the counter when you first walk in which lead to a long line at the dinner rush that seemed to be moving pretty slow. We got in before the rush and got our food quickly after. Staff were kind and very helpful! Fairly clean with the food runners circling tables often to remove trash.

The reason is the food, sourced through Street Food by Brasas. This is not brewery food that apologizes for itself. Pretzels, wings, both worth ordering again. The pizzas (barbecue, pepperoni) land in that rare category of elevated bar snack. I'd happily return for a table's worth. It's a single patty, with Pepper Jack Cheese, Tomato-Onion-Jalapeno Relish, Drizzled with a Tangy Fire Ranch and served on a Martin's Potato Roll. The burger was juicy and had those crispy edges that a smash burger is known for. My favorite cheese is Pepper Jack, so that was a big plus for me. The relish added that extra kick that made it a true, Firecracker. I can't enjoy a burger without fries and Jack offers long skinny fries. They had a crispy shell and a soft hot inside. Personally, I didn't care for how everything is served without a plate and with the burgers in the paper bags. I think the paper bags the burgers come in are a great idea to stop your hands from getting messy, but I had to take the burger out to realign everything so that all the bread wouldn't be at the very bottom and it just became a mess.
