Sandwiches and chips were good -- tuna and a chicken cheesesteak. Also enjoyed a vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing and a slice of lemon blueberry pound cake. Loved that they had Pepsi products.

I never thought that I'd be writing a review for Yelp® or any other site praising a burger place inside a convenience store / gas station. But Shelly's 'Smashburgers inside Midwest petroleum in Sunset Hills (at the corner of Gravois and Lindbergh across from Sunset Ford) has quickly become my favorite go-to place in the St Louis area for smashburgers. I've ordered delivery from there once and I have eaten there in person once. Delivery from GrubHub was hot and delicious. Ordering and eating moments after preparation whilel the fries and burger was steaming hot. I ordered a Shelly's double burger with cheese with the standard toppings (American cheese, pickles and mustard) and garlic parmesan french fries each time. When I ordered by delivery, I also ordered a second smashburger thinking that the burgers would be small. Regarding visiting the burger place in person. Except for the fresh grill, it's a standard gas station convenience store. There is a small amount of indoor seating however I chose to eat mine in my van so I didn't get good pictures of the smashburgers in the huge amount of garlic parmesan fries that I ordered as a side. The kitchen closes at 8:00 p.m.

It was OK. I waited almost 20 minutes for food. The weird part was knowing where to stand because when you have to wait that long and the pick up is located in the line to check out it's awkward. Everywhere I moved, somebody needed to be where I was or they started standing in line behind me even when I was nowhere near line, when I was standing in front of the candy. Everyone is saying how great this but I think they just want to tell people that they got a Smashburger in a gas station. It really is no better than steak 'n and actually not as greasy delicious. The sign says made fresh to order but what it doesn't say is they wait till they get a bunch of orders and then make all the orders at once. That's at least what the cashier said to me. But I also heard him telling people that it would be three minutes. So the whole experience just wasn't great and we won't be back. Steak 'n Shake is literally less than 2 miles away. We got a combo and you get a large soda. We got the garlic Parmesan fries and it wasn't very good. I think in addition to getting that garlic powder on there, you need some salt and so I would say they were much more garlic forward than Parmesan. There was not a good balance. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. So there you go. Make a decision based on what you think is good to eat and a good value for your money and not Instagram bragging rights of eating a good burger in a gas station. Oh, by the way, the candy was on sale two for five, but you had to have the card which he didn't ask me if I had. But without it each one is like $3.75 with tax. That's a lot of money for candy.

I've been eyeing this spot for months and was starving after work. I also needed gas... and this place is located inside of a gas station. I know from experience, that sometimes these type of places are the best! And-- I was right! This place was awesome. I actually ordered a Kid's Burger because I'm not into double cheeseburgers, too much meat. The burger was so juicy; flavorful and CRISPY on the edges. The toppings were fresh and the Shelley's sauce was delicious! I also got an order of fries with Red Hot Riplets seasoning and they were super crispy and flavorful. Take-out only, food is ready in about 5 minutes. Staff were friendly, you order and pickup at the gas station counter. I would totally come back if I was in the area!

Headed to the movies at Ronnie's tonight and stopped into Shelly's Gas Station to grab snacks and food beforehand. This place ROCKS!!! Every kind of snack, lots of hard ciders and canned mixed drinks along with the typical fare. Also lots of homemade goodies and then you can also get Smash Burgers and fries! Guys at the counter were super nice and helpful too! Here's a tip...order the burgers first since they take a bit ...made to order with the crispy edges too. Also, bring a big bag and then you're all set for the movies!

I recently stopped by after an appointment in STL. It was right at lunch time and it was also, opening day for the Cardinals. So when I entered, the line to order was already long. To my surprise, the one lady taking orders, moved that line quickly. So I give her major kudos. When it was turn to order, I was ready. I went with a Double and swapped out the American Cheese for Pepper Jack. For my side, I tried their Salt&Pepper Onion Rings. After ordering, I took my number stick and took a seat at the bar. Once seated, the bartender welcomed me and I ordered a draft beer. I barely had completed my Wordle and my burger basket was being slid in front of me. Before taking my first bite, I admired the crisp edges and actually ran my finger around them. My first bite was heaven. It proved to me that all a good smash burger needs is; ketchup, mustard, onion and pickles. The Onion Rings were made in house and the simple seasoning of Salt & Pepper made them a winner. While dining at the bar, I learned a new trick. If you're going to be sitting at the bar to enjoy your smash burger, you can order it from the bartender. That's right, no standing in line to order, you can go straight to the bar. Great staff. They all hustle and provide friendly and professional service.

I used to love Shake Shack, but frankly, this was my last visit. I ordered the regular Shake Shack…read moreburger, and it was ok, but it was $9.79 for just the burger. AND it was so tiny. I mean, really, really small. It just wasn't worth the price. I also ordered a regular Shake Shack chocolate milkshake and it too was very small. But it also tasted "off". There was something about it that just didn't sit right. There was too much chocolate to the point you couldn't taste the ice cream flavor at all. I was going to have them remake it, but honestly, it just didn't seem worth my time. The people who work there are very friendly and kind. The place also seemed immaculately clean. But my experience was frankly rather negative. Thank you for the good times, Shake Shack! You had a good run. But there's no value to your food, and things just don't taste the same as they once did. Epic fail.
