Like other winter markets the focus is more on meats and the produce is limited to root vegetables, garlic, onions, and a few apples. There are also vendors selling soaps and wool products. Meats available include poultry, beef, pork, and lamb. The vast majority-possibly all- appear to be pasture-raised or grass-fed. Also available are line-caught Alaskan salmon and locally-raised fresh trout. All of the vendors are quite friendly and more than willing to describe their products and offer cooking tips. This is why I love farmers markets. I had a bit of a hard time finding it at first- it's not in the Gregg School anymore. It's in a former storefront along Millheim's Main Street. It's just past the light, and it'll be on the right if you're going east on 45. It's nearly directly across from the meat store and wine shop- which are also worth a visit if you are so inclined.

He was ultimately very glad we did. We (my wife, my son and myself) were greeted by the owner John who proceeded to let us sample every cheese and jelly they make. There were so many varieties and they were all legitimately delicious. They were not ordinary either. They are truly European quality artisanal cheeses. He had excellent pairings of the jellies and cheeses too, and those jellies were also out of the ordinary and delicious as well. At the end of our sampling and engaging conversations (he is truly a warm & friendly gentleman), he took us on a tour of the cheese caves. For me, this was something to behold. It was like being on one of those travel shows in Europe! I intend to visit whenever I get the chance when visiting my son at Penn State.

That's not so with this International Market in State College! They had a plethora of Mediterranean, South American, Asian, and European products. Another great thing is it is somewhat organized by region, so you don't find random things next to each other. The store is located in an old house so you go from room to room while shopping. It can feel a little bit cramped but I was surprised by the amount of products they sell. There are lots of refrigerator and freezer goods too. The prices seem high for American groceries but as far as I can tell they are typical for an international market. I'd suggest reading other reviews and checking expiration dates. I'm new in town and have only been once but I understand they may not have high turnover for some products that may end up past their expiration. Just use your brain. Not sure if they take cards- I always assume there's a card minimum or that they don't take card so keep cash on hand. The only disappointing thing was their fresh produce. It was the size of a cocktail table and had about 6 items total. I'm sure there are other shops in town with better produce selection but as far as cultural variety, I'd say this International Market takes the cake.

I've been too many farmers markets, in my local area and one other one out of area, including this…read moremarket. Well in the area, from out of town visiting, decided to stop at the market. The vendors for a smaller market, were abundant, fresh pasta, mead, veggies, produce, pizza, honey, goat products, and a few bakery items. Huge compliments out to the organizers, it was amazing to have someone welcome you, and thank you, as you left the market. All vendors were friendly, whose stands that I visited and helpful. The gentleman that sold the Goat products, I do hope in the future to buy; as he was kind enough to call to find out stores in Altoona that sold their product. Highly recommend, Crumbkowski, Christina who is the pastry chef and owner, had an amazing set up, allowing customers to sample little pieces, buy whole squares, in addition to cookies and muffins. The Amish stand that had homemade potato chips, were out of this world; I'm sorry I didn't buy more to freeze. Great atmosphere and hope to return next time in town. When in season the corn on the cob is plentiful and offered by a number of venders. Te same is true if the tomatoes, cellery and other vegetables. In addition the market offers baked goods and meats. In a very short time from opening the baked goods are in short supply. If you love fresh vegetables you will not be disappointed with this event.

The number of people there selling goods was small, maybe about 7 booths. There was some sort of meat booth, eggs, plants, cupcakes/sweets, kombucha, fresh produce/candles, and eggs. I love that everything is local and everyone was super sweet. We bought a bunch of kombucha, a coconut cupcake, and a soy candle. It was a lovely outing.
