I like non-big box artsy coffee houses like this. Take your time. Sip a nice roasted brew and get away from it all briefly.

Cute little cafe with different seating options. It was fairly busy when I got there but luckily a table opened up to sit at. Great place to do work, cozy. I got an iced dirty chai with almond milk, basically $10 which for the price I don't think was super great but not bad. I would come back for the atmosphere though and try a different drink.

Great coffee, but majority pour overs so expect to wait. Love that you can select from various roasts. I'm a medium or blonde roast guy myself, thanks for asking! Daughter is gluten free, they actually had an almond thing that fit the bill. Latte, 12 oz black coffee, and almond thing totaled $15 -- not bad for a Java infused Daddy/daughter date. Plenty of parking in shared lot, free wifi, and restroom on site.

Favorite coffee shop in Charlottesville. Cute and cozy inside. Good coffee. Nice place to study if that's your thing, or to catch up with friends. I was happy with the vanilla latte I recently ordered.

Sensational coffee and they made me the most beautiful swan latte! It was almost too pretty to drink!

Shenandoah Joe's is my favorite coffee shop in Charlottesville. They have a diverse range of espressos and coffee beans. I always get an iced lavender oatmilk latte and I find that the coffee taste isn't too overpowered by the milk or the syrup. Both locations are great but I love the coziness of the Ivy location, which makes it a great place to catch up with friends and study during a rainy day.

We got cold brews after a hike and they tasted really watered down and were super creamy. I would ask for very easy milk if you prefer to taste the coffee. Or ask to put it in yourself. I've been to better coffee shops in Cville. Friendly staff.

Are you a coffee snob or do you prefer a coffee shop experience that isn't mainstream? This is your heaven. A place where speed of delivery is replaced with quality - freshly ground coffee, higher end filters, and a dedicated friendly staff member in charge of the pour over station. Want to read a book or do work as well? The environment is ultra relaxing, charming and cool! Had I lived here, this would be my go-to place.

It's a raining day and I didn't want to be stuck at home. Shenandoah joe is one of C'ville locals' favorite. After living here for a year, I can't believe it's my first time discovering this piece of jewel! Great coffee, very cosy decor and seats. Absolutely love it and will come back!

Comfortable spot with very good coffee. A bit slow, but probably just small town speed. People that work there were great.

Really limited selection, extremely rude staff. I tipped them but only out of habit. Is tip regret a thing? Would not return.

My croissant tasted as though it was sourced from Costco; it had been heated up, which made it marginally palatable. I asked for a large cappuccino and got a drink that tasted as though a sugary syrup had been added to it. There was a huge volume of milk, which I guess was OK, and a small amount of OK-tasting espresso. The breakfast was convenient enough that I figured I'd go back for a second round the next morning. However, when I arrived at the coffee bar on Day Two, I was told that the person who would be staffing it was "running late" and that the croissants had not yet arrived. The front desk person found it in her heart to pour me some coffee from the huge urn at the coffee bar. I was grateful for the free lobby coffee but headed outside for my official breakfast. Outside was better.

There is a good amount of seating with two large shared-space tables and smaller circular tables, and there is free wifi access. The cafe offers coffee, tea, and draft options. I've only come in for coffee and tea twice and felt that it was overpriced for what you get. They only offer their iced drinks in the large option, and it's probably because the iced drink consists of 8-10 large ice cubes that take up a majority of the space of the cup. The iced chai and hot soy latte tasted good, but were standard. The food was kind of meh - I ordered a biscuit which was barely warmed up. Overall, an okay cafe (probably not my first choice to go to), but it will give you a caffeine fix if you need it.

As usual, I'm looking for the best coffee roaster to go to, and Lone Light Coffee was on the top of my list in this area. The coffee shop is on the smaller side, but it was warm and comfortable. The baristas were nice and three of them gave me their input on which single origin I should choose for my pour-over. POUR-OVER - MKT Price +6.50 for Mohammed Aba Nura - Ethiopia (tasting notes: Strawberry, white chocolate, hazelnut) I wanted the craziest tasting option they had, and they recommended this one since it's pretty popular and well-liked among customers. However, one of the barista said he didn't really like it himself. I figured I should still try it. The sips I had while it was still warm was pretty juicy and sweet, but I really didn't like the notes once it cooled down (about 20 minutes later), which tasted sour and off-putting. I should have listened to that one barista and went with a different single origin option. Overall, good roaster -- just unfortunate that I tried something that wasn't for me. The baristas seem knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I would love to come back next time and try another single origin offering.

I wouldn't recommend trying to get work done here during a busy time since it's not a huge space.
