Sterp slope back to front, wet and wild grass soaked my feet but I didn't mind. I had a wonderful chat with a woman who had been to many places I've been, up and down the coast. After about fifty minutes, we picked up and left, continuing our walk around the dog park, it was quite beautiful - blue grass is a real think, albeit not exactly blue.

The fencing appears to be secure and in good condition - standard chain link - with one exception (picture included). If your dog is a jumper or a large dog that is motivated, you will want to walk the fence line for your dog's area. There are tennis balls for the dogs (lots of them) and buckets of water. There were five other dogs in the dog run while we were there, three appeared to be together and one of the three was very aggressive; they got their own area as the other dog owners steered clear. Lots of parking and a porta-potty for the humans. And it is loud at the dog run, because of the proximity to I64. And of course the dog run is located in Cherokee Park, so you can get your steps in before after your pooch gets theirs. Dogs must be licensed and members of the dog run association. No free lunch, but a welcome substitute for a large back yard if you are a resident of Louisville metro.

There was a good amount of people but it didn't feel crowded. There first stop was a little gift shop with and information desk, snack bar, and bathrooms. From there the trail to the forest giants was super easy to follow. After walking to the giants, I drove the path to see the Tin Man and canopy walks. I love how accessible all the big attractions were and how beautiful the forests are. It's worth stopping in if you're visiting the area or a local!

It is amazing that people in our community have stepped up so that we can have this area for us and the dogs. They have been updating it for years, and it just continues to get better. I personally like the fact that they require current Rabies, DHPP/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines and that they keep track of everyone who comes in with the FOB system. It's incredible to me that I can walk the paths and feel totally safe while my dogs run and play off-leash!

Like broad run turkey run does offer very cool walking trails and breathtaking views. While they don't have a splash ground or traditional playground like broad run they do have a great area to relax in front of the brown foreman silo. Which is a unique attraction itself as you can climb up there and take in all the views from high above. Like most parks and things to do in the parklands park system you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose to do. Loads of family fun to be had.

Like everything at these parks, the tower is open to the public and free, without any hassles. The water pressure at some of the fountains was a little weak, but overall the presence of free and clean facilities is an asset to anyone in the greater Lousiville area, as so much of Kentucky is either pretty but not open to the public or open but without any manmade improvements.

It also has separate areas for large and smaller dogs, which I appreciate. The one negative aspect of this park, as compared to others, is that there aren't any toys or structures for the dogs to play on. There's one tiny fire hydrant on the larger dog side, but that's it. Both the large and small dog sides offer water fountains for humans and dogs. The fences are also lined with plenty of bags and trash cans for picking up poop. Although, people seem to forget to do that pretty often at this park. The park is open 24 hours, and is usually pretty empty.

This park has plenty of parking, and a lot of room for your dogs to run. There is two sections : one for small dogs and one for large dogs. When the park is empty, I see people with big dogs using the small dog side, presumably because it's grassier, so the dogs won't get dirty as easily. Even then, the side for large dogs is still very grassy, and your dog won't get too dirty unless it's rained recently! The park is well maintained, and everyone who visits seems to do their part in cleaning up after their dogs. My dogs love coming here! The people and pups are so kind :)
