Chris Sheppard stole more than $20,000 from us. We hired his company in 2024 to fix our deck and house exterior. We paid the down payment and they did a small amount of the work. He requested that we pay the balance and we were stupid enough to trust him and pay him the balance. We never heard from him or his company or saw them after that. This has been the nightmare contractor experience everyone dreads. We hired Chris to redo our roof and gutters, paint the house, and fix a few screens after hail damage. I wish I had paid attention to the warning signs - often had to call multiple times to get a call back, he ignored emails for weeks, and would show up 3 hours later than he said and sometimes not at all, with no communication. After we paid an upfront deposit for the work, it became even more difficult to get a response. I had to call multiple times a day to finally get a crew out to paint. The house was painted, but the crew left tools and nails (literally dozens) all over our yard and driveway. They found multiple issues that Chris said he would address and never did. I told him I had purchased new lights and numbers to put on after painting, and asked multiple times to have an old satellite dish removed and discarded, and none of that was done. But it only got worse from there! Chris did not answer emails or phone calls for months after that. We paid him in August, watched dozens of new roofs go up over the summer, fall and winter, and finally in February he replied to an email saying he "shuts down work in the winter" and assuring me he would get to our roof in April. April came and went and he did not respond to a single email or call. We have lost thousands of dollars we paid as a deposit for work that was never done and we have not received any response about a refund. Put in for a quote on our kitchen cabinets and I got a response in about 10 minutes. It was a great price quote so I asked for a call. He called right away and from there he had good communication and was very professional. He was on time and did a great job on our cabinets. read more

Had Sheppards put on a new roof 4 years ago as my cedar shake roof was damaged by hail. Owner Tom fought the ins adjuster in regards to the roof being damaged by hail. Tom was an advocate for my cause. Finally got the new roof approved and ins. Then, I noticed a bubble on the roof and tried to get someone from Sheppards out to see if this was an issue or not. The service after the installation has been abysmal. Texts, calls go unanswered. Still trying to find out if I have an issue with this bubbling of an are of the roof. Can't say enough God things about Chris and Sheppard's Total Exteriors. Our gutters had become clogged and filled with debris, overflowing with all this rain we've been having. I used the Yelp quote tool ( which is also excellent and essentially aggregates company quotes in one place for you) Chris responded right away with a good and reasonable quote, better yet he was on a job just around the corner and said he could start the same day! Chris arrived after his other scheduled stop and got right to work. He did a great job with our gutters and showed me pictures of the completed work. We have used Sheppards Total Exteriors twice! They are wonderful! Last year, they were so accommodating in getting our house ready for our daughters' wedding. They were patient while I took FOREVER to decide on the right paint, then our restrictive HOA denied our choice (apparently "white" is not on their color-wheel), then approve later. It was frustrating (because of the HOA), but Sheppards was great and got on the job just in time to make our house beautiful for the wedding. read more

During the storm, I watched water cascade over my gutters; nothing was going down the drain spouts. Chris came out the next day after I contacted him and he did an incredibly thorough job. The gutters were filled with leaves and twigs. He not only cleared the gutters, he flushed all the drains and found a problem I will need to get resolved, but had he not checked everything, I would never have known I have a problem. He showed me pictures of the gutters after he was done - all were clear! I highly recommend Sheppards Total Exteriors. Chris is professional. We have lived in our home since 1996 and have had our house painted many times by at least four different painting contractors. I started looking for another painting contractor who not only paints houses but also repairs and replaces siding. I have seen "Sheppard's Painting" and Sheppard's Total Exteriors" signs in a several yards and then a friend told me that they are a very good company so I added them to my list of contractors to call. We needed lots of siding repairs due to a roof replacement that left a lot to be desired. We had no idea that the roofers neglected to put up new flashing material after they removed it where the roof meets the fireplace. The damage was extensive and we needed to get the siding replaced and repaired before further damage was caused. I called the first two contractors on my list to get an estimate. Each guy had a totally different take on what was needed to repair and paint our house. There estimate felt like they were guessing, one said that they would know more once they got started, the other one said the range could be anywhere from $4,500.00 to $7,500.00 and I had to keep my same paint colors. I was not impressed with them at all. I called Sheppard's and spoke to Debbie she was so nice and helpful. She set up a time the next day for Tom to stop by and take at look at my house. From the start I could tell that Tom was different than the other contractors. We walked around the house and he pointed out the problem areas we chatted the whole time, he was so easy to talk to. We talked about the colors and he said "you should always change your colors for the best results", that made sense to me and after spending 30 minutes together he gave me a written estimate; which was very fair for everything, I accepted it and wrote a check for the deposit to get put on his books. When Sheppard's crew showed up they started in right away. They were efficient and skilled. I was amazed how they prepped the house, using the first day to get the house ready to be painted that impressed me because the previous contractors used a few containers of caulk, I don't think they even used any primer before they started to paint. Sheppard's attention to details was incredible! They replaced a lot of the siding, power-washed the whole outside of the house, scraped the chipped areas, caulked where needed and then primed all the areas that needed it. They worked hard throughout the three days they spent on my house. At the end of each day they picked up everything and made sure my gates were closed so my dogs would not get out. I would HIGHLY recommend "Sheppard's Total Exteriors", for siding repair or replacement and "Sheppard's Painting" for superior house painting. Check out the before and after pictures. read more

Buyer beware! Check your roof to be sure what your are invoiced for is actually done. I used Sheppard's painting (aka Sheppard's roofing and Sheppard's total exteriors) a few years ago and was so pleased with the work that I hired them this summer to repair my home after the hail storm in June. Needless to say, the job performance was not the same. I foolishly hired them without even shopping the job out. I also referred them to a friend. All I'm going to state here are the "no grey area" facts. At the completion of the job I was presented an invoice. On the invoice were 8 vents and 325lineal feet of drip edge. When my husband went up on the roof, you could see the STILL dented the vent covers. Only 1 was replaced. Also from my kitchen window I could see the old drip edge was a different color than the new. So we had to call the contractor and after listening to him defend his crew, make him go on the roof with my husband and see that the items were NOT replaced. After be adjusted the invoice for the items that were just NOT done, my invoice dropped by $2210.86! That's a lot of money The best part, the contractor made me feel like I was screwing him. Also, my friend went up on their roof... Same scenario! As a business owner I would be concerned what my crew was doing with materials not being replaced but not this guy. I'm sure someone's Uncle has a nice new roof for a material costs. So ... Check your roof!!! Don't let these guys get away with these horrible business practices! read more
