I'm the middle of Grant Park on the corner of Loomis and Memorial sits this well kept, well stocked and overall great neighborhood Ace Hardware known as Shep's! I am rarely on this side of town, but recently stopped here on the way back home in an effort to avoid the big box stores for a small item I need for a repair. Shep's turned out to be the exact place I needed it to be and I was able to scoop up what I was after and head home without stopping anywhere else! When you first arrive you may see parking as limited and street only, but given their location and attachment to the next door market, they share a covered parking garage that provides you plenty of parking! But if street parking is your thing, there is plenty of that as well. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by an associate who promptly took me to the aisle I needed and helped me find the product. He was very friendly and helpful on the floor and then escorted me to the registers in the back to ring me up when I was ready. In between the goods and the register, I did walk around and explore a little and I was impressed with their selection of items, the flow of the store and the overall cleanliness as well. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood Ace Hardware. While it sadly not in my neighborhood, I certainly could see myself swinging back in if the need ever arises again, until then I will happily recommend Shep's to my friends in this area of town! read more

The employees at this location truly operate by the value- The helpful place. This is a smaller location but neatly organized, with everything one would need for their home project diy or pro. The staff is attentive and provide valuable insight. I walked in looking for sand paper like a rookie and picked one that goes like a belt on the tool however I was looking to use it by hand. The staff members approached me and helped me pick the right one with correct coarseness for my project. The checkout process was a breeze and they helped me learn and signup for their rewards program. I'm glad this is my neighborhood Ace Hardware. There is ample of parking besides the store. It can be seen from regular traffic. They offer plastic free packaging. Shopping is a pleasure here, kudos to staff and a management. read more

On May 6, 2025, I stopped into this establishment to purchase some black spray paint for an art project. I am an African-American male in his early 60s. I usually dress in a suit; that's how I was brought up to always look your best. As I am being rung out at the register, the cashier, a middle-aged Caucasian male, looks at me and says, "Your address awfully nice for going out tagging." Then he chuckled. I found this to be highly offensive when I called him out on it. He responded well: " I don't see anything wrong with it. I was just making a joke." Rather than the warehouse-y experience of a Home Depot or Lowe's, where sometimes clueless employees can be hard to locate, I am fortunate to live near Shep's Grant Park Ace Hardware, which even if it's part of a major chain, feels like the same neighborhood hardware store that your dad would drag you to and where he might ask questions about household nonsense you probably didn't care about. It's far from a massive place, but they do usually have what I'm looking for as long as its within the normal stock of an old school hardware store. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful and it's never crowded at all. If you need some bulbs or air conditioning filters, this would be the place to go to. read more

This is probably my 2nd time ever going into an Ace Hardware due to Home Depot, 2 mins from my house, not having what I needed. I'm so happy I was in the area and able to get what I needed from this store with no issues. I walked in, and the store was fully stocked and they were adding more stock, which is great. If you have to get a transponder car key done here, enter at your own risk. These people messed up not one, but two transponder car keys I trusted them with. It was obviously a lack of experience. It seemed like there was no experienced key person at the wheel. The first attempt by a young man was the worse I've ever seen. I think I could have done better with a file in the dark trying to use the Force. The second attempt was done by a young lady. She was a little better. The key when inserted one way, could turn, but turn it over, and it wouldn't turn, and was hard to remove. Now I have to spend more money on another set of blank transponder keys. I'm sad to say that this, my favorite hardware store, no longer accepts cash. This is unacceptable. I've never heard of cash transmitting covid. Printed on every US paper currency is "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". That means I can use paper currency to pay for anything anywhere in this country. This also discourages certain (undesirable) people from even walking in the door. Make no mistake about it, this business is discriminating against those who by no fault of their own can't open a bank account. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. Every employee here are super nice and are over the top accommodating. The store is always immaculate and everything is in the correct place. I love the convenience of having this so close to where I live. The only downfall is that it is a good bit more expensive to get supplies here than the big box stores, which is expected, but sometimes the convenience out weighs the price. I was so excited to check out this Grant Park location. My husband and I try to frequent "the little guys" and we love the Ace Hardware in East Point. Unfortunately, I will never return to this location. There was a customer at the register checking out; so, we waited on the red "social distancing" marker. We were the first person in line. Apparently, the line was forming in another place AFTER we got in our spot, unbeknownst to us. An Ace team member, I'm assuming a manager, comes over to ask if we needed anything. We told him we were waiting in line. He just points in the direction of the other line, that formed AFTER we started a line on THEIR social distancing marker. If this isn't an appropriate place to form a line WHY do you have a marker here? And WHY couldn't you use your words to tell us where to go? And WHY would you make us go all the way to the end of the line if we'd been waiting where YOU marked FIRST before anyone else? We were made to feel uncomfortable several times during our visit. He tried to make up for it by opening the door for me as I carried my daughter in her car seat. Too little, too late, sir. We won't be back. read more

I ordered a grill through Ace's website to be assembled and delivered by Shep's. Apparently the corporate backend system glitched and let me complete the order although I am a mile or so outside their delivery radius. When the grill wasn't delivered, I called the next day to check on it, and we discovered the mix-up; it was showing as a pickup on their end, which wasn't possible for me. They were very understanding and wanting to make it right, and went out of their way to go ahead and deliver it within an hour of my call. Excellent service. I went looking for some bolts to fit a tv stand that I recently purchased because I misplaced the manufacturer's supplied bolts. The representative literally looked at the directions for the tv stand and helped me to figure out what bolts/supplies I would need. I just at stopped by this place to get a replacement battery for my car key fob. The salesman at the counter was not very helpful. I didn't know what type of battery it takes so I asked the sales man if he could tell me. He says in a very dry and nasty tone "we don't offer that kind of service here. You can go online look it up and do it yourself". I didn't get his name but he had dark hair and wore glasses. This will be my last time ever shopping at tHis location. Purchased item in Florida to assist my elderly mother with fixing a lamp. I was visiting her so I could help pre and post-op cataract surgery. Had to make a quick turnaround back to Atlanta. Went to the store today in GP to return the item, still in original packaging, unopened, receipt and bag. They will not refund the item. I emailed the owner directly and he still refuses. They told me I need to go back to Fl to return the item. Such a shame, as a home owner in the area, I hoped they would be accommodating and gain a new life time customer. (yes, I got the full explanation as to 'why' they can't take it back.) I know rom experience working in retail and sales for many years, that you always have the ability to say 'yes' and establish a positive relationship with your clients. It's one thing when someone is trying to rip a company off, another when they approach you with sincerity and ask for your consideration. What sets this shop apart from all the other hardware stores south of the amazing Grand Handy Ace of Tucker is the persistent commitment of their staff to help.
